About

Moody Blues On Tour

The Moody Blues are '60s English rock band known for their progressive rock sound and their role in creating the "concept" album. The group originally started out as a rhythm and blues band, but with the release of their 1967 album Days of Future Passed, the band created a sound that was a mix of classical and rock music. Days of Future Passed is widely considered the first concept album and their fusion of rock and classical music was dubbed art rock or progressive rock. The Moody Blues released 12 more albums after Days of Future Passed until they took a break from recording between 1991 and 1998. During the break, they toured extensively all over the world performing on stage with a live orchestra. In 1999 they released Strange Times their first Top 20 album since 1983's The Present, and they followed that release with 2003's December. To date, The Moody Blues have sold over 70 million albums worldwide, and they've had 18 platinum and gold albums. About the Show The Moody Blues live shows are a bit like traveling back in time with some old friends you know well but haven't spoken to in awhile. The music is fun and familiar even if everyone is a bit grayer while enjoying it. The show will see their most successful album, Days of Future Past, played in its entirety and in sequential order for the first time on tour. Expect to hear many of their other hits as well, and with a discography spanning 50 years, they have many fan favorites to choose from. The band is fully aware of their "old guy" status being in their seventies and still touring, so expect to hear some self-deprecating jokes regarding their age and longevity in the business. Ultimately the band puts on a wonderful performance that will appease fans regardless of whether you've been a fan for 50 years or discovered the group in recent years.

    THE HALL OF FAME

by GARDNERMAN on 7/23/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

THE 11TH TIME THAT I HAVE SEEN THEM AND BY FAR THE BEST OF THE 11. THE GROUP HAS NEVER SOUNDED BETTER AND I LOKE HOW THEY ADDED SONGS FROM THE ALBUM OCTAVE. THERE IS NOT A GROUP OUT THERE THAT BELONGS IN THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME THAN THE MOODY BLUES. TWO HOURS OF CLASSIC SONGS PER4FORMED TO PERFECTION AND SUNG BY THE BEST VOICE IN ROCK N ROLL JUSTIN HAWARD. AWSOME CONCERT.

    Moody Blues Really Rock!!!

by Rinny1 on 7/23/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

I am a guy who really loved the Moody Blues music in the 60s and 70s but never had the opportunity to see them in person. Wow, am I glad that I did see them. They put on an amazing show, this is truly one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time and they still know how to get everyone in the place on their feet and rocking to their music.

Moody Blues have still got it!

by MBFAN on 7/23/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Still enjoyable after all these years! Even if a couple of originals aren't touring with the band, the show was very memorable. Behind the band the video screen was showing psychedelic images as well as pictures of the bands performances of the past.

Moody Blues at Humphrey's San Diego

by BigMoodyFan on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Great concert. Have seen them 7-8 times from 1970's on. Nice mix of new and less common tracks from their old tracks, in addition to the old standards. Missed Ray Thomas, but the girl replacing him on flute was very good and a nice change.

    Moody Blues @ Humphrey's

by puter on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

The band is still awesome, after all htese years. The venue is intimate -- not a bad seat in the place. It was the first concert of the tour and there were some sound mixing issues, but it was still great.

    So great!

by kkkat on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

This was my first Moody Blues concert, although I have been a long-time fan. What a show! The crowd must have been around my age - when did I get so old?!? The band was spot-on and a real treat. The Humphrey's venue was new to me, too, and it was perfect. It's not half bad listening to a top-notch band in the open air on a balmy evening while surrounded by palm trees and sailboats.

    Moody blues needed their vitamins

by munchkinator on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Love the Moody Blues, always have. I saw them up in Woodland hills on April 09, 2009 and they rocked the house. In fact, they we're so awesome, that when the tickets went on sale for Humphries in San Diego CA for July 21, 2009, I immediately bought 3. Well, they must of forgotten how to sing and harmonize last night. They trashed the last song of the night, "Ride my seesaw" and sang falsetto in " I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band". It was still a concert with the Moody Blues, but the guys really needed to get their act together.

    Moody Blues- amazing!!!

by eyexam on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

It was a flashback to 40 years ago; the "Moodys" sounded as clean and polished as they did way back then (and I remember those days!!). Sorry to see that Ray Thomas is no longer able to tour with them but his replacement is awesome. Don't miss them!!!

    MUSIC GREAT

by PLAZACYCLE on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

They were just perfect in their music, a blend of older and newer music. Strong vocals and great instrument instrument playing. Three problems: Sound techs didn't have the balances any where near correct for facility. One stage light was always blinding the right side of the audiance. The smoking was not stopped around the edges of the crowd.

    Timeless music.

by Meg50 on 7/22/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Womderful perfprmance in a gorgeous outdoor venue. The music was hauntingly beautiful and sounds as fresh today as it did back in the 70's and 80's. I was awed by the backup singers, the instruments, especially the two sets of drums. The Moody Blues is a fantastic band and a definite must see the next time they are in the area.
