The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Bad ending to a Good Show from a disappointed fan.

by MrTRockNRoll on 12/10/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

I attended the Marshall Tucker Show at BB's that night. I have been a fan since 1973. The show was very good. What really left a sour taste in my mouth was that the band played for about an hour and twenty minutes. When the set was over and they walked off stage we barely got to cheer them for their terrific performance. Within seconds the PA at BB's began to play some weird rap song and no encore from the band. I spoke to the guys working the soundboard and they told me that it was not the Management at BB"s that dictated the end of the show but it was Doug Gray the Lead singer who called the shots. This was also told to me by Marshall Tuckers sound board guy. I asked him if when the band plays in their home state do they do an Encore he told me that they always do. Being the last date of 2010 for the guys I guess that they must have been tired or something. According to the management at BB's they could have played as long as they liked. It was not only the fact that they felt that the crowd did not deserve an Encore that upset me but that they did not even give us a chance to cheer for them. I do feel that not doing an encore is a slight against the fans from the NY city area. Also I was not the only one who attended who felt this way. When I do visit South Carolina I will be looking up Gary for that Drink he said he would buy for all the fans who attended, he definitely owes NY one. Bad ending to a Good Show from a disappointed fan.

  • Cant sing anymore

    by ngw1 on 12/7/10Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 2 out of 5

The singer should hang it up. I respect him and what he has done for this band but when your voice is shot its shot.

  • They still have it after all these years.

by Anonymous on 12/7/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

BB King's in NYC is a fabulous venue to see anyone. Small, intimate and not a bad seat in the place. Marshall Tucker Band gave a great performance. Nice and personable with the audience. With one original band member, the show rocked. What talented guys. Would go again to see them. The show rocked ...

  • amazing

by buzzbeeonetwothree on 12/6/10Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

seen them 25 years ago in Phila,,, time has aged their faces and their voices but it was still a great concert.. would go back again if they came to penns peak.... The fella playing the keys, flute, and sax was GREAT to say the least...... He was a show all by himself.. for the change of voices due to age " and we were already aware of this of course" This fella on the flute and sax made up any disappointments that anyone could have had, and i dont believe there was any from anyone. The area that i was sitting in everyone thought they band was still great. and as far as i am concerned,, YES, THEY ARE AS GOOD AS EVER

  • Sad, but time to hang it up

by Idearc on 9/2/10Stockton Inn - Stockton NJRating: 1 out of 5

Unless they can get someone who can still sing, they need to retire. Can't you See, Heard it in a Love Song, was embarrassing. I've seen Marshal Tucker 4 times since 1974. Last time this summer in Jersey at the Stockton Inn. They can still play, but I felt like cryng. At least I still have their DVD's They didn't even do 24 hours at a time, which at least instrumentally they could still play.

  • Marshall Tucker Band Still Rockin The House

    by oms1276 on 7/19/10Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

They can still bring down the house!!! Although its not all of the original members they still sound and play great.

  • never saw show

by Anonymous on 7/19/10Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 1 out of 5

The ticket stated the show would start at 7:00. By 8:00, no one was on stage. We didn't mind because Marshall Tucker was sure to be on soon. Imagine our surprise when we found out there were 3 warm up bands. We were truly disappointed. If we knew about the other bands, we would have come much later.

  • This sound was AWFUL

    by gggg8888 on 7/18/10Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 1 out of 5

The opening bands were WAY better than Marshall Tucker. The sound was terrible. And when we went to go talk to the sound guys to ask them if they could turn the volume down and fix some of the levels, we were told to just get away. Wish I had saved my money.

  • Satellites are sorry, Marshall Tucker great!

by cabooster on 6/22/10Ho Chunk Casino - BarabooRating: 3 out of 5

It was sad to see the Georgia Satellites without Dan Baird, he obviously made the band complete. Rick Richards is still aphenomonal guitarist but supporting cast just ain't cutting it. As far as Marshall Tucker goes, what a GREAT band - the new members really carried out the spirit of the old band and the craftsmanship showed. Only complaint was the band left without an encore. I'm sorry that was crappy! Ho chunk is not the best place to see a live show, I'll take Potowotami Northern Lights in Milwaukee any day. Basically a convention hall with chairs.

  • Singer stoned - ruined songs

by JayArr on 6/21/10Ho Chunk Casino - BarabooRating: 1 out of 5

by mkkk on 6/21/10Ho Chunk Casino - BarabooRating: 1 out of 5

  • Too much warm up band

by Fyjf on 6/21/10Ho Chunk Casino - BarabooRating: 3 out of 5

Georgia sattelites played way too long and Marshall Tucker Band way too short. Expected a better show.

  • Georgia Satellites were more entertaining

    by Catalina2 on 6/20/10Ho Chunk Casino - BarabooRating: 2 out of 5

The bands were okay, to much instrumental playing. When they sang you couldn't hear what they were saying.

  • MARSHALL TUCKER BAND/GEORGIA SATELLITES

by Ninfa on 6/20/10Ho Chunk Casino - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

both bands were awesome the flute/sax/keyboard player was exceptional (for lack of a better word) Marshall Tucker was great The whole band was very entertaining. Georgia Satelites was very good, do not suggest for anyone who doesn't like rock music, guitarists from both bands had good solos

  • Incredible!

by Caddymom2 on 5/18/10House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

I have loved this group since high school in the 70's. Got the opportunity to see them at House of Blues, Myrtle Beach, SC on 5-14-10. They are getting older, but getting better. They literally brought the house down. So much talent!

  • THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND......NUFF SAID!

by usair4s on 5/17/10House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Show was everything one would expect from one of the quintessential classic southern rock bands. It's The Marshall Tucker Band.....the name says it all. You got to check them out!

  • MTB Awesome!!!

by Dking1 on 3/27/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 5 out of 5
