The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

Marshall Tucker Band still Has it, Truely enjoyed the show Took My 22 year old Rap Fan Son and even He enjoyed the Music. The Country blended with , Rock.,and the sounds Flute,Saxaphone and great vocals was well worth the price of admission. Only down side was the venue. and no FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN!! Maybe next time!!

  • Marshall Tucker lacking

by jpcincy on 3/22/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 3 out of 5

The music was good, but the singing by lead singer was lacking in strength. Seems they played only a few songs, and inserted a lot of music (without lyrics). Very good music, but had hoped to hear more of their songs sung.

I thought the show was good.... but disappointed that Marshall did not sing more.. Maybe he was having voice issues...It was more of a jam session than a concert... The whole thing was only about an hour and 20 minutes.... Lots of songs were left out.. They would sing a few lines and then play for 12 minutes... and then sadly someone from the crowd sounded better than Marshall did... The other two members in the band that did sing did a great job.... Enjoyed it but would have rather heard more singing and less instrumentals with Marshall just standing there conducting the guy on drums...or wispering to each band member... He seemed to depend on the crowd to keep the show going!!!

  • Time for Marshall Tucker Band to Retire

by MadDoctor on 3/22/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 2 out of 5

The only original member left in the Marshall Tucker band is vocalist Doug Gray. However, some of the other current members have played with Marshall Tucker longer than the original members did, so I don't mind that so much. What I did mind very much was that Doug Gray can't sing any more! The entire audience cringed as he croaked through the first song, and after that, the rest of the band took over the vocals. The lead guitarist can do a pretty good imitation of Doug Gray in his better days. The old hits were treated as sing-alongs, and fortunately, the lyrics are simple so everybody pitched in to help. Gray offered multiple excuses for why he couldn't sing, but I very had the impression that this was not a single-occurence problem due to temporary illness. After that first song, Gray played the role of emcee, comic, and conductor, which is what I suppose they have to do to keep from becoming merely a Marshall Tucker tribute band. The musicians are great, but it was a feeble set of only 6-7 songs that just petered out after 85 minutes. There was not encore, but by that time, nobody cared anymore. [This performance was 3/20/10 at Belterra Casino].

  • Hang it Up

by Tranqulized on 3/22/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 2 out of 5

Lead singer has lost his voice and they should keep their right wing radical political views to themselves.

  • by Anonymous on 3/22/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was only 90 minutes. Too short. They had a singer that was apparently not part of original band that could not sing! Other that that it was good.

Too much talking and not enough songs played. More of a jamming session.

  • MARSHALL TUCKER BAND

by Sremick on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 1 out of 5

IT WAS SO SAD TO SEE SUCH MUSICIANS HAVE TO TOLERATE THE ONLY SURVIVING MEMBER'S SINGING. DOUG IS SUCH AN ICON AND FOR HIS VOICE TO BE SO BAD...POOR GUY. WE ONLY GOT TO HEAR 4 OR 5 SONGS WHICH TOOK 1 1/2 HRS. SO THE SONGS WERE EXTREMELY LONG. THE LEAD GUITARIST WAS VERY GOOD AT SINGING AND SHOULD PROBABLY BE THE LEAD SINGER TO MAKE THE SHOW MORE APPEALING. THE MUSIC WAS GOOD AND THEY HAVE ALOT OF TALENT BUT I HOPE THEY LET DOUG TALK IN BETWEEN THE SONGS AND LEAVE THE SINGING TO THE REST OF THE BAND MEMBERS.

  • Marshall Tucker was a dissapointment

by CincyKid556 on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 1 out of 5

I was quite dissapointed with Marshall Tucker. I did not expect this band to sound like they did 20 years ago , but that being said they still dissapointed me. They talked way to much. They only played a few songs which they extended into long jams. Jams were cool back in the 70's but what I think myself and many other people wanted to here were more songs and less jamming and talking. The biggest applause and in fact the only time most of the crowd stood up and got into the concert was when they pulled a fan out of the audience and let him sing a few verses of "Can't you see". He sounded better then the singers in the band.

  • They need to retire the lead singer...

by bethfromcinti on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 1 out of 5

We were psyched to see one of our long-time favorite bands, MTucker and were glad the band was playing so close to home. It didn't take long to realize (first song) that the lead singer/leader of the band was wasted. He couldn't carry a note and was singing a beat behind the music. Terrible, terrible. Also talked too much about his political views, etc. Thank goodness for their singer, flutist, keyboardist, saxophone player. He carried the band and made the experience tolerable. I never have been to such a short concert. The concert began at 7pm and lasted just 1.5 hours. We did not get our money's worth. Very shocked when all of the lights came on. No encoure, nothing. I will not pay to see them again. $38 per ticket. They(the system) made more than $25/hr for each paying patron. thanks!

It was a awlful concert. All they want to do was talk. They needed to play music and SING songs. He try to be a comedian. He's not. I loved their music and we listen to their CD's on the way way home. It could have been a great concert. In an hour I think they only played 4 songs. It was a shame I paid $35.00 a ticket. I wouldn't go back if was FREE. If they have a same format. I would like to save anyone else from setting through that show.

  • A short show!

by OldFartMary on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 3 out of 5

The Marshall Tucker band reviled fans with old favorites, but for a short one and a hlaf hour concert. The lead singer had trouble with his voice several times, but what can you expect when he is 62. The security at Belterra was ridiculous. Every time a fan got up and clapped, he was asked to sit back down. Altogether, enjoyable, but way too short.

  • Disappointing

by Anonymous on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 1 out of 5

Too much talk and only 5 songs played. Forty dollars for 1 hour of music was a little too much!!!

  • by Queenb55 on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 1 out of 5

The show was very disappointing. They only did about 6 songs and it was pretty much just showing off their talent for playing instruments.

  • Worse concert ever

by Procto on 3/21/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - BelterraRating: 1 out of 5

This was the worse concert I have ever been to. Lead singer has no voice. Each song lasted about 8 mins. Heard 4 songs in an hour.

  • Band was great but lead singer cant sing

Fun to hear the old songs that I grew up with. Band jammed but the lead singer sucked

  • MTB .... Marshall Tucker Band

by JMikeM on 1/23/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

You don't need to be a "TuckerHead" to appreciate & enjoy this band. Flute & saxaphone really give them a remarkable and amazing sound.

  • Marshall Tucker Band

by ZIAAAA on 1/22/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 1 out of 5

I have been a fan of this band for 30 years and was extremely disippointed with this concert. Doug Gray is a great man but he is a significant hinderance to the performance of this band. Doug sang "24 hours" and 'This Ol Cowboy" and it was absolutely terrible. His other selections were as bad and I decided to leave the concert early, as did others. Make no mistake, this is one of my all time favorite bands and I do not want to see them fade away. I am afraid, however, unless Doug takes a supporting role this band will fade away organically. I think Doug should certainly stay with the band and be an active participant and master of ceremonies but take a back seat when it comes to playing the lead. Just is not working anymore.

  • Malfunctions

    by kam123 on 1/22/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 2 out of 5

Early equipment failures were never quite overcome. It took them about half way thru the concert to get their act together. And then ended too soon. Overall the band seemed almost disinterested at times. Very disappointing.
