The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Marshall Tucker needs to dump their lead singer...

by hbrocks on 6/1/12Coach House - San Juan CapistranoRating: 2 out of 5

GREAT GREAT talented band. 5 of the 6 guys were legitimate country Rock and Roll Stars...they Lit it up. Everything was chuggin along... until suddenly..... The Lead singer opened his trap...whoops! THE TRAIN CAME OFF THE RAILS.... Sadly this guy must hold the keys to the bus and all the equipment because it was very very evident he "jumped the shark" a long time ago. -TERRIBLE "embarrassing" SINGER- Almost wished Simon Cowell from American Idol was there to say.... 'WHAT THE BLOODY HELL WAS THAT"?? Now, the other 5 members of the group ripped it up and were quintessential MTB. If it were not for them...we'd have gotten up and walked out immediately, One thing my wife noticed was... every 5 mins or so...this lead singer was getting constant deliveries of "refreshments" from the stage hand and his motor skills became noticeably impaired after about the 4th song. Give "this" MTB a 2 outta 5 stars

Too many opening bands ! Did not really like them ! Marshall Tucker was worth the wait thou !!! Would not like to wait that long in the future. Marshall Tucker was great, brought back memories of the 80's.

  • Marshall Tucker - so sad

by Anonymous on 4/9/12Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 1 out of 5

To say we were disappointed is a total understatement. The only saving grace was the warm up band Southern Steele. Don't know if there were mic probs but yikes I won't be going to see MTB ever again

  • 40 years and still rockin'!

    by PeteyD65 on 4/9/12Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The Marshall Tucker Band sounded great and they played for over an hour with a range of songs spanning over their many albums. The earlier part of the evening was filled with some awesome renditions and cover songs (The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet and others) performed by the Southern Steel band. *General Seating is limited to bar and Railing areas. Most of the seating has a pretty good view of the stage area since they are slightly elevated above the standing areas. If you do not want to stand get there early!

I was very dissappointed in the fact that the ticket said the concert started at 7 pm. We weren't let in the building until 7:30 and althought the 3 warm up bands were ok, Marshall Tucker didn't perform until 10:45. I just wasn't expecting them to start so late. Marshall Tucker was ok. I felt the lead singer must have been sick as he held the microphone to the audience to sing more that he sang himself.(he didn't sound good) the rest of the band was fantastic. Finally, since our tickets had seat #'s I was expecting to have our own seats. I wasn't aware that their weren't enough seats for the audience.

  • Two great bands!

by Cptawesome1227 on 4/6/12Foxboro Stadium -Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

What can I say. MT sounded great! Sure, Doug is the only remaining original member but his band sounded amazing. Great musicianship with pretty much the same setlist as all the other reviews here. A lot of people are complaining about Dougs voice but I think he sounded ok. He's been doing this for 40 years! The venue was fantastic as well. The acoustics were fantastic. Can't wait to see them again! The opening band, Forgotten by Friday was awesome. Very classic/southern rock but more on the rock side. I think they may have been a little more 'rock' than some of the audience anticipated but they seemed to dig them. Kinda like Skynard/Black Crowes meets Bon Jovi. I grabbed a CD & had a chance to meet a few of the guys at the bar. Best opening band I've seen in a while!

Followed this band since the seventies this sounds pretty close to the original you won't be disappointed if you see them anytime in the future. Good long set two hours. Wish venue would allow dancing they kept telling us to move sit down.

Used to love them. What a rip off! Sounded like a cover band. They were terrible. Lead singer could not sing. Cost of show way, way over priced. This was not Marshall Tucker!

  • Awesome Old guys

by Kandan on 3/20/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Wow- we had a great time. We saw them about 30 years ago for the first time and loved them then. And we loved them again. Glad we went!

  • Marshall Tucker was AWESOME

by LindaBC on 3/19/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

I am amazed that a band 30 years old with the majority of the original members could play so tight. I thought the musicians were better than those who played with George Thorogood. Amazing AmaZing show/Loved it

  • by Anonymous on 3/19/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Great show I did not expect that great of a show . I thought it would be just a bunch if old guys trying to sound good , but instead it was a bunch of old guys who sounded just great . Not like watching the rolling stones who look old and also sounded real old 10 years ago , when I saw them play in oakland ( ripe off ) .

  • Marshall Tucker Band@Uptown Theater. Great!!

    by Barefoot33 on 3/19/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

It has been 30 years since I last attended a Marshall Tucker Band show. I can not figure out why I have been away so long. The music took me back... The band was amazing both vocally and intrumentally. The acoustics were great. The theatrer is beautiful. Nice to sip on a glass of wine while enjoying the show. We had a great time!

  • old tunes for old guys

by PBhi on 3/19/12Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Tunes from the 70's for us older than that. Very down home, very casual. Band made us feel as if we knew them. Would for sure do it again. Very nice small venue, all seats very good.

  • Gotta see Marcus Henderson!

by soybean on 3/19/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 4 out of 5

Singer and tambourine player Doug Gray is the last original MTB member after 40 years. It showed... like he's tired... bless his heart. It appeared as if he was allowing the rest of the band to hold up the band high as a whole. And they did! Flute, SAX, keyboard, singer Marcus Henderson was amazing! A must see! He and the bassist/ guitaris(s) must of made Toy and Tommy Cadwell deeply proud (RIP).. keeping the MTB passion hot! Many of audience look forward to hear a bands top hit, like "Can't you see". My biggest disappointment; many older bands, have the audience participate by singing along with the bands the big bullet song. I've heard over and over the audience wants the band to jam full tilt boogie with themselves, ie. "Can't You See?". The audience takes away, though it can be fun, from the richness of the song. That's my only disappointment. I wanted the band to carry "Cant' You See" without the audience.

  • Marshall Tucker Band...40 yrs & rocking!

by Bugg on 3/19/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

They have always entertained. They have stood the test of time, even with adjustments to the group. Their musical abilities are incredibly good. How do you find a talent like the fellow who plays flute, sax & key boards, and can sing! They have personality with the audience, each other & truly enjoy what they're doing. A great evening all 'round.

  • Marshall Tucker at Uptown Theater, Napa, CA

by stallionfallino on 3/19/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 4 out of 5

Marshall Tucker was extremely tight, a fantastic band. But Doug Gray should not, repeat NOT sing anymore. He just can't pull off a song like he used to. We were glad there were other lead singers, with great voices, that did the other songs that night.

  • by SActownlang on 3/18/12Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

It was a good 'o boy show. The highlight for me was one of the band members who played the flute, keyboards, and saxophone. He stole the show which was fine by me. I got to hear the two songs I really wanted to hear: "I Heard it in a Love Song" (2nd song they played) and "Can't You See?" as the final song before their encore. The place was rockin' too...

  • MTB still rockin'!

by Guitardogg on 3/18/12Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

This was a great blast from the past! Solid band around the original lead singer. Played the big hits and a few surprises.

  • Save your Money: Marshall tucker

by MtbBoo on 3/18/12Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

The concert was horrible, the singer was so bad, we got up and left after about three songs. Wish I could of gotten my money back and the time I spent going to see them.
