The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Fun concert

by MandaMc on 2/3/25Knoxville Civic Auditorium - KnoxvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Ok, not the best concert I’ve been to recently, but no one compares to Keith Urban! MTB was good, lead singer is the only original member left; he spent too much time talking to the audience and asking the audience to sing along. I can do that in the car with my husband, if I want a sing along. Some “too long” jam sessions on guitar. Again, decent, not the worst (Kansas gets that distinction), got the tee shirt, so I won’t need to go see them again.

  • disappointed

by mk on 1/16/25Charleston Coliseum - CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

Never saw MTB when they were touring back in the day. Thought it would be nice to see them local. Understand they only have one or two original members so perhaps that is why the sound was a bit different. Expected them to do HITS - but they didnt do all hits - they did several improvisational pieces that were really slow and boring and something that a hard core fan who follows them and listens to EVERY piece of music they produce - would like. Several people - I mean lots - exited the center 30 min prior to the end of the concert. IF THEY WOULD HAVE JUST PLAYED THEIR HITS - it would have been a better concert. The sound system was poor and it echoed and was less than clear - could not understand the main singer when he was talking - it was garbled. i felt sorry for them actually. I know they probably could sound much better but they need to step back and regroup. Otherwise I dont think there will be many anxious to plop down $100 to attend.

  • Very disappointed

by Nan on 12/19/24Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 1 out of 5

First off, the seats were good, but, for the amount we paid for concert, was very disappointing. It was more instrumental then song.the one song, was almost 20mins of nothing but instruments. Both bands were bad, didn't hear alot of what made them who they were. Sang partial of songs. The sound was horrible,

  • Great band. Deserve better acoustics!!!!

by Buzzy on 12/17/24Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Starship presented well and related to the audience. Marshsll Tucker still the real deal! Both bands suffered from lousy acoustics. Every stray dog in Atlantic City must've been clawing at the front door of Caesar's Palace. Parts of the renditions were like someone sticking a hot poker into your head. They deserve better.

  • GREAT SHOW!

by Louis on 12/17/24Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Marshall Tucker sounded fantastic! Seasoned Pros that really played to the crowd and guitar solos and jams were really good.

  • Doug Gray needs to retire.

by Janis on 12/13/24MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 3 out of 5

I've been a huge fan of MTB since the 70s. Love them. But its time for Doug to retire. His band was wonderful and had some great singers but Doug totally butchered all of my fav songs. It was painful to watch. Sorry Doug. Still love you tho.

  • Good, but

by Mark on 12/9/24MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was good, heard songs I grew up to! MGM is always a good venue, The one thing that could have been better is the band/music seemed so loud it covered up the singers voices. If the singers were louder or band/music less, reduced a bit, to even out the experience. Then it would have been a 5 star!

  • Great show!

by TT on 12/9/24MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 4 out of 5

Marshall Tucker Band was amazing. A rich and vibrant musical experience. Loved them in college when this genre was known as southern rock. They did not disappoint! Jefferson Starship was the opening act. If we had been at a local bar...we would have left. Other than the lead guitar, it was awful. Definitely see MTB but skip the opening act.

  • We had the best time ever! Great songs. Great concert!

First time seeing Marshall Tucker Band and they put on a great show! Loved every song, great entertainers!! Would love to see them again.

  • It's Time

by Egger on 11/21/24The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

Doug Gray needs to retire. I have been a Marshall Tucker Band fan since the 70's. Saw them a couple years back and it was OK, but it's time to hang it up and become a tribute band as there are still some good musicians on stage

  • Beautiful acoustical music

by Jul on 11/20/24The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

But...they only sang 2 of the bazillion songs I grew up with.

  • Pretty little love song can't be wrong

by RedSC on 11/20/24The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Viva classic southern rock! Doug Gray is rocking it still at 76!!! Glad to see he is still keeping MTB alive! He has a great team of band mates-Chris Hicks and Marcus James Henderson and the others! Was a great night!

  • Issues with sound

by Martman on 11/20/24The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

The opening act was great! Sound issues with Marshall Tucker impeded their performance. Doug , lead singer, was a little rough vocally but still managed to get the songs out. For 79 years old he was fine. The rest of the band was great and played with amazing virtuosity. A little jam band at times but still, those guys can play. The opening act played shorter songs that gave the audience a chance to hear more material. They were great as well.

  • Friends of Marshall Tucker Band

by MG on 11/20/24The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 2 out of 5

Thank goodness for Marcus Henderson and Chris Hicks as they carried the show. It was 70% instrumental and 30% singing. Doug Gray is in great shape for 76 but its time for him to retire. When he did sing he led the audience in a sing a long. Its time to call it quits and retire with dignity- what an amazing career MTB has had .

  • Very good‼️

by Sweetness on 11/20/24The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Very good‼️ They played oldies and a few newer songs that I had never heard before. I would go see them again‼️😁

  • Exciting night

by Suzy on 11/19/24Macon City Auditorium - MaconRating: 5 out of 5

Jimmy Hall rocked the house with energy and stamina..His voice was strong and he he sings to the audience like they are all his best friends. He leaves the stage with everyone wanting more.

  • On Point 🎶🎵

by Project R & Bern on 11/19/24Macon City Auditorium - MaconRating: 5 out of 5

Both Bands, Wet Willie & Marshall Tucker were EXCELLENT !! We had a great time ! Music was Great ! Singers & Musicans DID NOT Disappoint 💥🎶🎵

  • Wet Willie was excellent!

by VCTC on 11/18/24Macon City Auditorium - MaconRating: 4 out of 5

We really liked the venue and Wet Willie was excellent!

  • somewhat entertaining for the night

by Tim on 11/18/24Macon City Auditorium - MaconRating: 4 out of 5

The opening act Wet Willie was awesome and very entertaining for the 1.5 hours they performed. We were underwhelmed by Marshall Tucker Band, they seemed to be somewhat tired when performing. The sound was bad at the beginning, but it got better as the night progressed. Overall, it was a fun experience for the night.

  • Disappointed!

by DeeDee on 11/18/24Macon City Auditorium - MaconRating: 3 out of 5

I love both bands, but was disappointed. It was obvious Doug Gray had voice issues. The sound was not good! The music often drowned out voices.
