The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Horrible show..Waste of money

by JoRo on 3/4/25Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 1 out of 5

Lead singer is terrible,he stood in the back most of the time, very little vocals, more like jam session of instrumental.Good thing the lead guitar player could sing because he was the only one.Flute and saxophone overplayed everyone..People was leaving during the concert because it was so bad..

  • Best Concert Ever

by Woo on 3/4/25Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Marshall Tucker Band put on amazing performance. One original member but you could not tell on how well they all performed together. I had seats 4 rows from the stage. Brown County Music Center is an amazing venue. It is not over crowded. Staff at Venue is top notch people. First time ever at venue but it will not be my last. Preferred Parking is well worth the money.

  • They only played for 90 minutes

by Boogie on 3/4/25Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The band was very tight and the music was fantastic!!! However, they only played for 90 minutes. I was hoping for 3 hrs for how much I paid for the ticket!

  • Saved by Marcus

by jdorse on 3/4/25Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 3 out of 5

The venue was awesome. There is not a bad seat in the house. The musicians were great. Marcus James Henderson was absolutely awesome. He saved the whole evening. I could listen to him play for hours. Doug Gray wasn't good at all. The band played more instrumentals during the songs ... I believe so the vocals wouldn't have to sing.

  • Horrible

by Bubu on 3/3/25Effingham Performance Center - EffinghamRating: 2 out of 5

We left 1/2 way through. Never heard 1 hit song. A lot of showcasing. What a waste of money!

  • Show whose time has passed

by Mitch on 3/3/25Effingham Performance Center - EffinghamRating: 3 out of 5

While the band as a whole is extremely talented. The lead singer is unable to perform this job anymore. Only a few times did he turn over the lead singing to others in the band very capable of stepping in. Several times he tried to compensate by pointing the microphone at the audience and telling them to sing instead. It would have been a much better performance if if he acted more like an MC and not try to sing. I will use YouTube for recent concert videos and avoid situations where the band members can't actually perform anymore. I'll just listen to old recordings and save my money.

  • Worst concert ever

Left after the third song. They should have paid us to sit there. Love Marshall Tucker of old…should have known better and read reviews.

Wish they had played a few more of their 'hits'. It was Valentine's Day. How could you not play "Heard it in a love song." Also it was freezing in the arena. People who came just for show had coats on, but we had hotel room and were not prepared and it was very uncomfortable

  • Glad I went, but it could have been better.

The venue was great, with no bad seats anywhere. The sound was pretty good as well. I last saw the Marshall Tucker Band in 1976, so they were probably at the height of their success. I was a big fan, and still am. Doug Gray is 76 years old, and his voice is not what it used to be. He had an original, unmistakable, and powerful voice in his younger years, but even a Rolls Royce gets a lot of road wear after 50 years. He has some great musicians and singers with him, and they carried the show. Doug was very humble and personable. He spoke to the audience between each song, and expressed his gratitude for the fans support over the years. I thought he related to the crowd very well, and I loved him for it. The last song , Can't You See, was sung by a guest singer, I couldn't catch his name, but he did a great job on it. Doug turned it into an audience sing a long, and the experience brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes, thinking about times long gone. I'm glad I went. I don't hold anything against Doug. He obviously enjoyed putting on the show, and the crowd enjoyed having him. I enjoyed being there and seeing him still having fun. When our heroes go away, a piece of us does as well. Just know that he can't do what he used to do. The next morning, I played some Marshall Tucker Band in my truck and relished in the rich vocals and guitars I remembered from my youth.

  • Wow, what a performance!

by Rockerman on 2/3/25Knoxville Civic Auditorium - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Truly Superb and opening act, Millsaps fellow, was a real, real treat as well!! Fantastic all around.

  • Loved it!

by SusanTN on 2/3/25Knoxville Civic Auditorium - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

These guys were amazing and did not disappoint. So incredibly grateful that we were able to be there. If you’ve never seen them in person in concert, you need to eat and get as close as you can afford.

  • Disappointed to say the least

by frebo on 2/3/25Knoxville Civic Auditorium - KnoxvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Does not remind you of the marshall tucker band of old. They have managed to substitute a pedal steel guitar, a piano a fiddle with electric guitars. Everyone gets a solo on every song. I'm guessing that the more we get to hear electric guitar solos, the less we have to listen to them sing. when they play the favorites, they hold the microphone up and let the crowd sing, which is way better than their vocals, but not what I paid for. Save your money and pull out the album.

  • Probably my last

by Macdude on 2/3/25Knoxville Civic Auditorium - KnoxvilleRating: 3 out of 5

This was the third time I've seen Marshall Tucker. Doug is a sweet man but he's not able to sing like he once was. Having the audience sing the 12 choruses of Can't You See was tiring. Will Moseley was fantastic and would make a great replacement for Doug. Marcus is fantastic but was only asked to sing one song. His flute makes the show worthwhile.

  • Wow!

We had a great time at the Marshall Tucker show. There wasn't a bad seat in the house. Great atmosphere, great event. Would roadie for MT all day long, that's how much fun I had!
