The Marcus King family Reunion was a wonderful experience. Marcus played mini of his most popular songs and had his wife come on stage with him to sing a song and had his dad come on stage with him too. Serve another great song. My only complaint is we had VIP tickets but did not have assigned seats so we felt as though one of us had to stay in our seat while the other one walked around to get food and beverages. if we’re going to pay for VIP seats they should be assigned so nobody else sits in them and you can get up and watch the band or go to the restroom or get food

  • Marcus King was amazing! But the Avalon was a horrible venue

by Kristin on 5/13/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 1 out of 5

Marcus King put on a great show. His entire band are incredibly talented. But the Avalon totally ruined the experience by having terrible sound. They had it up as loud as it could be. You couldn't even hear what Marcus was saying when he was speaking to the crowd. All the instruments were drowned out and it sounded like one huge mess. Also, you are not allowed to dance. You remain in your seat. How can you get into the show if you are not allowed to dance? All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I will not be returning to another show at the Avalon. It does not do the musicians any justice by performing there.

  • I've had a fabulous time

  • Great - Terrible

    by C. C. on 5/9/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 1 out of 5

Marcus King and his band are fantastic. The sound at my seats was terrible. I purchased 2 front row tickets because at the time I bought them those were the only two adjacent Seats in the middle orchestra section available. I thought it would be great, It was not. The sound in the front row was terrible. There were no side fills, or middle speakers so all we could hear were some of the instruments from the stage. We were sitting directly in front of the bass guitar and there were clear plexiglass shields on the electric guitars so we heard a lot of bass, no vocals, very little guitars, direct horns and un-miced drums. I paid for front row seats but so that I could hear the music and experience Marcus King upclose. Instead, I stood up in the back of the theater so I could actually hear what I paid for.. Not the experience I was hoping for.

  • Band was great not the right venue

by Chowmain on 5/9/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 3 out of 5

Always liked Marcus King but this was a little more jam session heavy than i expected, but still great music. Was hard to sit the whole time and be aware that the upper mezzanine gets really hot! I’m talkin’ sweat lodge hot. I think i met my spirit animal up there.

  • Fire the sound guy

by Cbott on 5/9/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 1 out of 5

***This is not on Marcus King or the opener. I don’t know who was in charge of sound. The sound was SO BAD we left after 30 minutes. I couldn’t hear a word being sung or spoken. Only heard drums and bass and even those were TERRIBLE. My husband said he could hear the brass and because I couldn’t see them, HAD NO IDEA they were there from sound alone. I don’t know if it was the venue’s sound or the band’s but that person needs to find another line of work. I know the songs pretty well and I couldn’t tell you one song he sang it was that bad.

  • MKB at Avalon

by MusicFan on 5/9/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 3 out of 5

The band was great. It was nice to see a sold out crowd. The only issues I had were that the seating was rather tight and honestly the sound system quality was very subpar. Most of it was very muddy and hard to distinguish voices or between instruments.

  • Disappointed

by Barry on 5/9/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 2 out of 5

Marcus’s playing was great as was all the band. However the sound was terrible. First act was way too loud. Bass and drums cranked. I even asked the sound crew to lower it. On Marcus the mix was jumbled. Again too loud and no separation of instruments. Could only hear the horns or organ if they soloed and then barely. Again the bass and drums over the top. Don’t know if it was a local sound crew or the road crew but this was a small theater not a 20,000 seat arena. Need to learn the difference.

  • Amazing Band and Support, let down by poor audio setup

by Ricky on 5/9/22Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 3 out of 5

I had a great time. I was blown away by how good Hanna Wicklund was and Marcus was of course fantastic. I just think that the sound boys let them down. The balance was wrong and the vocals were pretty much drowned out. I was surprised by the number of covers that Marcus did from The Marshal Tucker Band, to James Brown, to Crowded House, when he has an amazing selection of his own work.

  • Ugh

by Debo on 3/22/22Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 1 out of 5

I am a Marcus King Band fan……I have traveled far to enjoy a concert with them…however, I am so disappointed with the recent concert. I did not go to their concert to listen to ‘new music’. I purchase concert ticket to hear familiar music. The ‘new’ music was nothing like the MKB music I that I truly love. Most disappointed….left before the end of the concert……I have never done that before.

  • Hannah Wicklund and Marcus King

by The Dude on 3/16/22Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

Penn’s Peak is a great venue to see a great show, and Hannah Wicklund did not let us down with her 45 minute set. The Marcus King Band took the stage next and played for over 2 hours! What a band! From his Eldorado classics, and his other classics like Goodbye Carolina he had the audience’s attention and interacted enough to make the crowd engaged. Go see this 2022 tour if you can.

  • Had a great time marcus was great......

    But Hannah Wicklund...WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Transcendent!

by Sonja on 3/16/22Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

The opening act Hannah Wicklund was an unexpected treat. She had a wonderfully powerful voice and really set the tone of the evening. The Marcus King Band was world's better than the last time me saw them, and they were phenomenal then. Each and every member of the band is multi talented and Marcus sings with such passion and soul. I've never been to a concert with such an excited and engaged crowd. This Marcus King Band concert was hands down one of my favorite concert experiences ever.

Both Hannah Wicklund and Marcus King were both fantastic. Great young guitarists.

  • Terrible sound

    by AV$19 on 3/16/22Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 3 out of 5

Th bands were very talented. But, the Penns Peak venue is the worst sounding building ever ever been in.
