About

Despite sharing their name with a northeastern state, the Maine formed in 2007 in Tempe, AZ, a collegiate suburb of Phoenix. Most of the bandmembers -- singer John O'Callaghan, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and drummer Pat Kirch -- were in high school at the time, and the guys wasted little time turning their '90s radio rock band influences into a familiar, infectious pop-punk sound. The Maine signed to Fearless Records and released a five-song concept EP, The Way We Talk, in 2007. After performing on the Vans Warped Tour one year later, the group issued a full-length debut album, Can't Stop Won't Stop, which was produced by emo-pop veteran Matt Squire. The record peaked at number 40 on the Billboard charts and caught the ear of Warner Bros. Records, who signed the Maine to a major-label contract in 2009. After releasing a deluxe version of Can't Stop Won't Stop later that year, the group returned to the studio, eventually emerging in 2010 with the sophomore album Black & White. ~ Steve Leggett, RoviDespite sharing their name with a northeastern state, the Maine formed in 2007 in Tempe, AZ, a collegiate suburb of Phoenix. The Maine was amazing.

    by blahh101 on 5/25/11Masquerade - Atlanta

The Maine rocked the house. They were so good the moment they hit the stage. Augustana kinda sucked. Like a ton. All of there songs sound the same and everyone was just standing around looking bored.

    The Maine Never Disappoints

by mikw on 5/24/11The Norva - Norfolk

The Maine rocked as usual! Really loved when Kennedy and John decided to try a little screamo and Garrett was really getting into it! (as was Pat...hope his boo-boo is better!) Hugo, Austin Gibbs and Augustana were good too!

The Maine was great as always! They made most of their songs faster so they could fit more in their set time. Augustana was pretty good. There were a lot of people that showed up only for them to play and left as soon as they were finished. Most people only knew two of their more famous songs. They don't really have that great of stage presence though. Only a time or two did they really interact with the fans. Austin Gibbs was AMAZING. He is such a talented artist and I'm so glad I got to see him before he gets signed and rocks the world. Hugo was okay. I couldn't really understand him and no one seemed to know any of his music.

The concert was great and the thing I love about these small venues is the Meet and Greets afterward! They definitely made my daughters birthday!

    Pretty awesome tour...

by radiorockstar on 5/23/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Austin Gibbs- Awesome opener, make sure not to miss him. That band had such connectivity on the stage. You could tell these guys were all good friends just having fun playing music. The Maine- These guys were pretty awesome performers. Lots of energy and excitement from the crowd (mostly teenage girls). I am pretty sure that the lead singer was on something though. The way he acted was pretty abnormal, kind of fumbling around on stage. He also talked about all the “sexual energy” in the room. I thought this was highly inappropriate given the age range of girls 10-17. I’ve been to a lot of shows and can tell when people are on drugs. This guy was on something, which was kind of upsetting. I wish he just would have done his show and then did whatever he had to do afterwards. Either way, the performance itself wasn’t compromised that much. They still did a great job. They also came out after their set and signed stuff and took photos…they did this for a significant amount of time to get through to all of their fans. Augustana- was awesome. They are just such a great live band. The lead singer didn’t do much talking in between songs, so it was all about the music. At this time all of The Maine fans left to go get their autographs, so the venue for Augustana was slightly less crowded and with all the 14 year olds gone, you could now see the Mid 20’s and higher group who came out to see Augustana. Good Tour…check it out. No crazy special effects or awesome lights, just great music.

    Awesome!

by Danril on 5/22/11Masquerade - Atlanta

This show was great! Everyone there was really into the concert. People were pretty nice, and the staff at the Masquerade is just amazing. I go there for concerts a lot, and they never fail to do a good job. The Maine and Augustana performed really well, and The Maine came out after the show to sign autographs, take pictures with, and talk to fans. They are a friendly bunch of guys. Given the chance, I would go to this show all over again!

The Maine is one of the best live bands to see...EVER! They are really into their music and into their fans also. You can tell they are having the time of their lives on stage! I just love to see them live and will definitely see them again if they come to FL. I drove 2 hours for this show and would gladly do it again!

    A concert to die for.

by LeannaMullen on 4/21/11The Norva - Norfolk

The Maine sounds clear, fresh and John O' Callaghan's voice, Jared and Kennedy's guitars, Pats drumming, and Garret on bass; still play in my head after An Evening with The Maine. They are an amazing band and this unforgettable experience i had will truly last a lifetime. ♥ I look forward to seeing them again on their tour along with Augustana & Austin Gibbs!!!

    John O-dayummm

by CarlyRae on 10/29/10Theater of the Living Arts - Philadelphia

The Maine put on a unforgettable show! They pick perfect opening acts who really got me excited and ready for the Maine. Lead singer, John O'Callaghan, performed shirtless. I know that this was a favorite part of the show for myself and the 75 other girls at the show. They warmed up the crowd with some familiar favorites, then treated the fans to an old song called 'Daisy.' They then brought a fan on stage to help sing 'Girls Do What They Want', while the fan was singing John took pictures on her camera of her in front of the crowd. It was a really cool moment. They then sang a cover song, and then ended the show with their most popular single "Everything I ask For' After the show there was an option to meet the band, and the best part as that it was free. I really appreciate bands that do that because it shows that they want to meet everyone that supports them. Overall it was a great show, and a great night!
