One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s finest works, THE KING AND I boasts a score which features such beloved classics as “Getting To Know You,” “I Whistle a Happy Tune,” “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance” and “Something Wonderful.” Set in 1860’s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.

Simply beautiful! Anna's voice was l lovely. The king was hilarious and the children were a delight!
Great seats and great show! I would recommend this show.
"The King and I" was on of the first musicals I saw as a kid, and I wanted to see it so much. I didnt know how I would feel as an adult seeing it with adult eyes and after having seeing many, many other musicals and shows. Well, this production is absolutely beautiful! I loved it so much! The nearly 3 hours went by so fast, and I found myself mesmerized and feeling as though I was transferred to Siam (Thailand) myself. The main three roles of the King, the Teacher and the King's main wife were all extremely talented and received well deserved applause. The whole company, including the kids, was amazing. I am so happy I went and I recommend it all heartedly.
Very good! Wonderful casts keep up the good work! Amazing orchestra Great performances and great graphics Great direction and timing
After seeing this production in Lincoln Center, I was hesitant about the touring company living up to the grand proportions of the previous production. Although pared down for the tour, the version at the Pantages was a lovely evening, and Laura Michelle Kelly was absolutely enchanting. After Kelli O'Hara, whose version won the Tony, Kelly is an admirable replacement, and a very strong lead to start this tour.
Took my in-laws to a matinee. They had already seen this play twice in the past. I was taken by the emotion of the story (which I was familiar with from the movie years ago). We all left the theater genuinely expressing appreciation and excitement for an amazing play! The cast pulsed out the characters in true form.
Fantastic performances by the entire cast! Our seats in the mezzanine were great. We had a wonderful time!
We had seen Yul Brynner on Broadway many years ago, and any comparison from this performance we certainly anticipated would be sadly lacking. However, the lead for this performance has his own gravitas, as well as a wonderful voice and presence. All the voices were pure and lyrical, and the audience appropriately enthusiastic. Our adult daughter had listened to our record of the original cast and was prepared to be delighted--and she was! As has been our experience with Pantages' productions, this was excellent.
The lead is fantastic--her voice and acting match the original actress I saw at Pantages with Brynner. Go to this touching and magical evening that warms the heart.
Worth seeing. Show was entertaining and had some good one liners.
Great cast. Great production. Recommend for all ages
This production was very well done - wonderfully staged, choreographed, and sound was superb. The casting was masterful and all actors carried the story as well as their songs and dancing very very well. Will see it again!
Really enjoyed the show. Good balcony seats, better view than Mezzanine lower floor as it is a large cast. Sound and audio not so great. We had trouble hearing some of the performers, We had a lovely dinner at Off Vine Restaurant and they valet parked our car for entire evening for $10.
This performance was filled with very talented people. The singing was amazing and did not disappoint. Each character played their roles with great skill. As I had previously only seen the movie, this play was a joy to attend.
I loved it. Would do it again in a heartbeat, at $29.00 why not
I smiled the whole show. The characters, singing, dancing and music were exceptional.
It's such a classic musical with beautiful music, great choreography, and beautiful costuming. We enjoyed every minute.
Growing up in the NY city area seeing broadway shows very often, I am a snob when it comes to theatre. Expecting an "O.K." Los Angeles performance, I was pleasantly shocked at the quality of the King and I. The singing and dancing were on par to any production on the broadway stage. A must see for musical lovers.
Probably the best performance I have seen in LA and now in my top 5 plays I have ever seen and between NY, London and LA i have seen 100s . I even cried twice it was so beautiful.
