The Jacksons in Concert

Nearly half a century after first wowing the world, music's most famous family continues to thrill audiences in every corner of the globe. Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Randy — better known as The Jacksons — bring a heap of iconic songs in pop and R&B to fans wherever they play. Backed by a top-flight ensemble of players, the brothers deliver high-energy performances that cover the span of their unparalleled career as recording artists and hitmakers. Audiences can expect everything from buoyant early No. 1 singles like "ABC" and "I Want You Back," to the infectious grooves of "Dancing Machine" and "Blame It on the Boogie," to the anthemic likes of "Can You Feel It?"

The Jacksons Background

The Jacksons' story began in a humble home in Gary, Indiana, where the precocious talents of five young brothers — Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael — first made their mark at regional talent shows as The Jackson 5. Under the direction of father Joe Jackson and Motown mastermind Berry Gordy, the band became one of pop music's greatest sensations of the late 1960s and early '70s thanks to their irrepressible energy and astounding abilities as performers. Smashes like "ABC" and "I Want You Back" made the Jacksons a regular presence on the Hot 100. After their tenure with Motown ended, they'd return to the top of the charts with such disco-era powerhouses as "Blame It on the Boogie" and "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)." The Jacksons' preeminence would continue even after youngest brother Michael attained superstardom and Jermaine had his own solo success. All of the Jacksons — including kid sister Janet — united for the first time ever to record 2300 Jackson Street in 1989. The four eldest brothers came together again in sadder circumstances in 2012 for the Unity Tour, their first concert tour since Michael's death in 2009. Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon continue to perform together worldwide, adding to a legacy that already includes such honors as the Jacksons' star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and their inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.

by section64 on 6/27/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

my daughter and i went into the fox with little expectations when considering there would be no mike.but oh my god once the curtain went up and the music started playing you would have thought it was a beatles concert in the early 60s. we all stood for at least 2 hours danceing and singing. germain can still handle th lead like the pro that he is.

    The Jacksons are Legendary!!!

by BellaKimmy on 6/26/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

As a person who have literally attended the shows of over a hundred acts I have never felt so awe struck as I did then being in the same room as the Legendary Jacksons! Of course they do not sound as they did 20 years ago, but their efforts, hard work and energy are recognized and duly noted! Well Done! And, for those of you looking for Michael; his presence was felt and well received! BE PREPARED TO SPEND YOUR CONCERT TIME ON YOUR FEET, SINGING ALONG TO EVERY SONG!!!

    The Jackson's made me SMILE!!

    by Denise227 on 6/26/12Fox Theatre - Detroit

I saw the Jacksons at Fox Theatre in Detroit, MI on 6-23-12 and loved it and SO glad I went to the show! I saw them back in the day and of course, they are not the same without Michael. What I LOVED was the chance to groove with them, the old songs, and they did a great selection of Michael's songs too! Sometimes their voice might crack or you know the way Michael would have done a song and Jermaine or Marlon could not do it the same....but we all know that before we walk in the concert! If you are a Jackson 5 fan you will love the chance to sing the old songs you use to know and watch your "favorite" when you were young, dance across the stage. They do a loving tribute to Michael with video and pictures, and Jermaine sings "Gone Too Soon". Michael's guitar player from This Is It DVD is playing with their band. I would go again! If you are a TRUE fan of the Jackson 5, it is worth going to the concert!!

    J5 Girl

by 2ShayC on 6/26/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Took me back enjoyed every minute of the show. Jermaine and Marlon did excellent jobs stepping into the lead roles. Professional performance all the way. The crowd was a good mix of young to seniors, lots of parents with teens and pre-teens, enjoyed the family feel of the evening. Surely Michael was missed but I'm a J5 fan from years back so I was excited to see the J5 (yeah I know it's 4 but Michael's presence was felt throughout). The clips of their family and past performances were ooh, ahh moments. Too bad for my co-workers who found out afterwards how good the show was, we looked at Ticketmaster to see if we could find another show close but the next closest venue had been cancelled.

    The Jacksons

by J5Fan4life on 6/26/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

If you are a true Jackson fan you will love the show. They were great. They stepped way back and pulled out some songs I hadn't heard in years. It was a memorable evening. It truly made me think about "The Good Times." They interacted well with the crowd and the tribute to Michael was wonderful.

    AWESOME & Amazing

by MJSONLY on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

From the first movement of the Red Curtain to the closing of the last note The Jackson Brothers had the entire audiences attention and participation. The devoted fans at the Fox only sat for a few moments when they paid tribute to their missing brother "Michael Jackson". This was followed by a huge round of applause of love and admiration for MJ. MJ's presence was felt by all in attendance - his love and ability to unify people still very present in the world. I was personally amazed at the ease in which Marlon took the stage and his stage presence quickly winning over the crowd, he is quite the performer. All the brothers were amazing and filled with so much energy and it was very apparent that they were having a wonderful time performing. I couldn't have enjoyed it more (unless Michael was on stage with them)

    The Jacksons are Legends!

by JacksonLover4Life on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I am so disappointed in Detroit in that more people did not come out to support the Jacksons. The show was exciting and brought back a lot of memories. It was obvious the brothers rehearsed and thought about their selection of songs to make the concert enjoyable. We should not forget that all the Jacksons are legends. They were all there in the beginning and still have great presence. I am extremely happy that I went to see this show. I know Michael would have been proud. The whole show was what I expected and the music caused most of the audience to stand for most of the show. I would love to see the show again!

Not What I was Expecting or Hoping

by EpsteinRally on 6/25/12Casino Rama - Rama

Sure we know that it won't be great without Michael. But I expected more for $400 than to line up for a 5 sec. (1 picture only by "unknown crew member") with the brothers. They smelt good though :) Anyway, the music was ok to nice. But was in no way celebrating Michael to any real extent. It was simply a concert with the 4 brothers. They did show some pictures of Michael and did a few memorable songs but all in all it was nothing special. Was REALLY hoping for a tribute to Michael given by his brothers. Also, was also expecting the brothers to talk a little. Share a some memories with us. This didn't really happen. Some songs I didn't even know. Certainly the best part of the show was when Jermaine did sing tribute to Michael, "Gone too Soon" . That was really beautiful!! Really, quite beautiful. Also, a very sweet man.

    They really surprised me!

by Muffin5 on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The Jacksons really know how to put on a show! They may be older but they still have it! They sung all of the old songs as well as some of Michael's. They danced for nearly 2 hours! I was so suprised!! I love them now as much as I did when they were the J5! Everyone should see the show. You will not be disappointed!

    The Jackson's was Awesome!!

by Brown1Sugar2 on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Wow they were amazing. I purchased VIP so I got to meet them but I am sad because my cousin and i was ushered out and didn't get a chance to get them to sign our books but others did. It wasn't the Jackson's because Jermaine was going to sign a book for my daughter but the photographer and 2 other guys was rushing us. That was so unfair especially since we paid a lot for the tickets.

The Jacksons Unity Tour 2012 rocked !!!

by Yimp on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Great show, the crowd was on their feet during the show and only sat down for the tribute to MJ. Afterwards, the crowd was back up on their feet until the show was over. The Jacksons played Jackson 5 hits, Jackson hits, they did a touching tribute to MJ, Jermaine did a few of his songs and they ended with a few MJ songs. You really got your $$$ worth. I would highly recommend this show.

    The Jacksons

by scoobally on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Did they put on a show!!!. That was a party and a half. That's why I'll always love the Jacksons. this is my second time seeing them in concert 1st time being in 1971 as the Jackson 5 , then this time without Michael and they did not miss a beat. I turned into a screaming 14 yr old girl again. We were supposed to be sitting in the upper, upper balcony, but by some miracle our seats were moved to the main floor, row E center of the stage. I could not have asked for better seats, this was third only to 1. meeting the brothers.(I feel like they are my brothers.) 2. Having front row seats. And then Jermaine stood center stage and did not move while singing all I do is think of you. ( A song that means a lot to me.) I can't wait till they come back again. So if you get a chance, go you will not be dissapointed.

    The Jacksons are BACK!

by DetroitMusic on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

This was truly an amazing show. The brothers had so much energy and really gave it 200%. The show was a wonderful mix of Jackson 5, Jacksons, Michael Jackson and Jermaine Jackson hits--over 90 minutes non-stop. The backup band was incredible. The tribute to Michael was just right. These guys are in their mid to late 50's--Jackie's over 60, and they certainly proved why they are legends in the game.
