The Jacksons in Concert

Nearly half a century after first wowing the world, music's most famous family continues to thrill audiences in every corner of the globe. Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Randy — better known as The Jacksons — bring a heap of iconic songs in pop and R&B to fans wherever they play. Backed by a top-flight ensemble of players, the brothers deliver high-energy performances that cover the span of their unparalleled career as recording artists and hitmakers. Audiences can expect everything from buoyant early No. 1 singles like "ABC" and "I Want You Back," to the infectious grooves of "Dancing Machine" and "Blame It on the Boogie," to the anthemic likes of "Can You Feel It?"

The Jacksons Background

The Jacksons' story began in a humble home in Gary, Indiana, where the precocious talents of five young brothers — Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael — first made their mark at regional talent shows as The Jackson 5. Under the direction of father Joe Jackson and Motown mastermind Berry Gordy, the band became one of pop music's greatest sensations of the late 1960s and early '70s thanks to their irrepressible energy and astounding abilities as performers. Smashes like "ABC" and "I Want You Back" made the Jacksons a regular presence on the Hot 100. After their tenure with Motown ended, they'd return to the top of the charts with such disco-era powerhouses as "Blame It on the Boogie" and "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)." The Jacksons' preeminence would continue even after youngest brother Michael attained superstardom and Jermaine had his own solo success. All of the Jacksons — including kid sister Janet — united for the first time ever to record 2300 Jackson Street in 1989. The four eldest brothers came together again in sadder circumstances in 2012 for the Unity Tour, their first concert tour since Michael's death in 2009. Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon continue to perform together worldwide, adding to a legacy that already includes such honors as the Jacksons' star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and their inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.

    Jackson Concert

by ReeRee38 on 6/25/12Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

wow what great memories the Jackson brought to me on Saturday I had a great time they did more songs than I thought they would do and they also did a dedication to there beloved brother Michael that got emotional for me and I for his brothers as well I was a great concert if they come back i'll be back to. one thing i would say is I know they want to make there money but i think they need to get on the roster with the old school concerts and be the headliners...

Overall, I had a very good time at the event. I wish that it was longer than 90 minutes. that was my very first time seeing the Jackson's. It felt pretty good being part of history. Only if Michael was here, it probably would have been held at Ford Field or Comerica Park.

    Jacksons rekindled Good Memories

by ftalton on 6/25/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

The sound system wasnt the best. At times it was hard to understand the words to the songs. For 50 and 60 year old men they represented our generation well. I honestly believe that many of todays musical acts really don't understand the IMPACT the Jackson 5 had not only on the black community but on the Music Industry as a whole. I Thank them for making us proud and never forgetting their roots.

The Jacksons still have the Magic!

by RedZRyder on 6/25/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

The Brothers are older (hey, we all gotta get older at some point), but they still have that "thing" that catapluted them to stardom back in the early 70's. They still have the presence on stage that I remember! And they can still perform! I saw them in Merrillville, IN and I thought it was a great show... they did all the songs we love and they even did some of Michael's hits! It was great to hear all those songs again! Some ppl complain about why anyone would wanna see them without Michael but I say this.... It was the J5 - Michael AND his brothers - that shot Mike to superstardom. He didn't start off by himself! Collectively, they had the magic and THEY BROUGHT IT.... TOGETHER! His brothers performed a great show without him and did a beautiful tribute to him, which I thought was wonderful, and it showed that they still have the talent that got them from Gary, IN to being known around the world!

The Jacksons were FANSTASTIC!!! Very Entertaining!

by Kendall81 on 6/25/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

I'm 30 years old, I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan and I thought The Jacksons were amazing! I was shocked! I was expecting a mediocre show at best but no, they did they're thing! Marlon moves like he's in his 30s and Jackie looks so good! Michael's presence was definitely missed but the brothers did a great job of paying tribute to him and mentioning his name, even having a moment of silence for him through out the show. The setlist is genius. They all took turns singing Michael's parts with Jermaine singing the majority. I have to say Jermaine forgot a lot of the lyrics but if you're enjoying yourself and singing a long (like you will) you won't even notice. It was actually pretty funny because you know Jermaine has been dying to sing lead forever so everyone pretty much let it slide. Don't miss this show. I'm telling you, you will regret it if you do. I'm even willing to travel to another city to catch the show again, they were that good!

The Jacksons going back to Indiana

by Jrock1956 on 6/25/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

The last time I saw The Jacksons was in 1984 during their Victory Tour. I've seen them in concert a total of 5 times but have never seen all of the brothers at once. And this time was no exception with Randy choosing not to tour and of course with the death of Michael. But the brothers did their best to put on a good show despite the technical problems with a wireless mic in the middle of a quiet moment in the show. And the sound left a lot to be desired. It was very bottom heavy and the lead vocals were very hard to hear at times. The background vocals were strong and the harmony was on point. They had 3 other background singers helping out, but during that quiet moment while sitting on stools, the brothers proved they could still sing because the harmony from Tito, Marlon, Jackie and Jermaine was solid. The backing band was tight and there were a few missed cues but this was only the second night of the tour so that's to be expected. Jermaine's lead vocals were great but he struggled at times because of monitor issues on the stage. Marlon's dancing was great, Jackie doesn't seem to ever age and Tito's guitar work was very good but a side note to the soundman...when a gutar player steps out front to do a solo, there's a volume knob on the soundboard, slide it up to increase the volume!

by FiftyNFabulous on 6/24/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

The Jackson's Unity Tour on June 22nd in Merrillville, IN was a spectacular event. The music was great. The singing superb of all the songs we remember from way back when. And the dance moves were amazing. Marlon was on top of his game, showing us he got the moves and loving being back on stage. Jackie was cool as remembered, Tito wailed his guitar and Jermaine was amazing.

    Great Show

by Julie2468 on 6/24/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

The Brothers put on a GREAT performance I danced and sang through the whole show, I've always loved the Jackson 5/Jackson's since I was like 8 or 9 years old and I'm now 51. This was my first time attending a Jackson concert and I'm so glad the Brothers decided to go through with it , I followed the Jackson Dynesty show and was disappointed when they said they were canceling the tour. I was planning to attend MJs This is it concert and was extremly disappointed when he passed away. The show could have been at least an hour longer we weren't ready to leave.

The Jackson's done a great job in giving us ( their fans) what we wanted. They try to play all the songs that was hits and song their brother Micheal once sing. We stand up dancing and cheering through the whole concert, but we thought that they was going to come out for curtain call.

    Jacksons Unity fun

by cadance on 6/24/12Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

We enjoyed the show. The sound system seemed to lack some clarity ( whether this is the location or the show I have no clue) but the overall show was energetic and we had a very enjoyable evening. It was good to see the brothers perform together . Would have loved an encore song or two.
