About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

Saw the concert two years ago at Summerfest and I thought that was amazing. Saw them on the fourth, and couldn't even tell you how much this concert surpassed the last one. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

  • The Fray's "Lightshow" good as usual

by TraderJoe on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

The Fray always has an entertaining show with their complex light choreography. I was very impressed by Jack's Mannequin as well, their lead singer was very energetic and the lead guitar was a ball to watch. The Fray performed an awesome interpreatation of Kanye West's Heartless which was great.

  • Jack's Outplays The Fray

by chevyole on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

Both Jack's Mannequin and The Fray put on good shows on Saturday night, but Jack's show was more energetic and Andrew McMahon fans got the opportunity to meet with him after the concert

  • Fray was amazing

The fray performing at summerfest had to be one of my favorite concerts ive ever seen.

  • The Fray and Jack's Mannequin rocked!

by Princessabbie on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

Though, at first I had a trouble figuring out who was who, I danced through the night. This was not a sitting concert! The frontman of Jack's Mannequin energized the crowd by jumping around. His piano skills were unforgettable. Then, the Fray dazzeled by starting out with "Cable Car (Over my Head)". It just got better from there. They kept on going with an amazing light show and a great band.

  • AMAZING

by alborowsky on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I really loved this concert. I was not a huge fan of the first band, though. I also wish Jack's would have played a few more songs! The Fray was incredible as well.

  • Nice fourth of july event

by frayfan on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

I've been a fan of the Fray for a long time, and I really enjoyed the concert. HOwever, it was difficult to understand the words when the lead singer sang.

  • Jack's Mannequin was a fantastic show!

by zbird on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the Jack's concert was wonderful! They had just the right amount of talking between songs and would explain a little about it, and played definite fan favorites. The crowd was on its feet for the entire concert. I thought The Fray had really great stage setup and sounded really clear and exactly like their albums. Their concert was much more subdued but they gave a good performance.

The Fray's show at Summerfest was unbelievable!! The set was beyond anything that i had ever seen before! It was so amazing! I reconmend this show to all Fray lovers and also to anyone who wants to see an unbelievable show! I can not wait to see them again!

  • Jack's Mannequin... worst show ever

by ReaperX on 7/6/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 2 out of 5

At first i thought they might be joking when they started playing, however it was not a joke. The painful onslaught that terrorised my ears that night will not be soon forgotten. That was quite frankly the worst band i've ever had to sit through. By the time they were done, i didn't even want to stick around for the band that we'd come to see because i was that irritated. I don't think any amount of drinking could ever prepare someone for a show like that. Save yourself the agony, and just stay home instead. The Fray played well, but it was all music i hadn't heard before so it was hard to get into. I ended up leaving early on in the show to go get food instead, because THAT sounded more entertaining then what i was dealing with.

  • The Fray and Jack's Mannequin was Spectacular

The Best Birthday Gift i have ever spend for myself. I want to say thank you to both bands for fulfilling my 21st Birthday!

The musicians were awesom. The location was terrible. The screens were in black and white, the sound was very blurred. Any other musician and I would have left within 15 minutes of the concert starting.

  • great, entertaining, and it rocked

  • Jack was all that - Fray was not

by Freddy on 7/6/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 1 out of 5

This was the first time I heard Jack's Mannequin... and I really liked what I heard. I will certainly search them out in the future. The Fray... thsi is the second time I have heard them at the Marcus and they just don't have enough good sound mix to sound good in this arena. We walked out halfway through. There performance was for those who want to sing along, and you need to know the words before the concert, because you couldn't understand them during. The mix was horrible and not anything but a lot of white noise. Love the Fray - but not in this location.

  • The Fray, Summerfest

by lakers on 7/6/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert. We knew we liked The Fray and had a CD before we came. They did so many of the songs we knew and we really appreciated that. We had the best seats (section 2) where we could see the whole band really well. The pictures above the stage were a neat addition and we enjoyed the music--they were great performers. It was better than we expected. Jack's Mannequin was great too. We couldn't always understand the lyrics so we're planning to buy one of their CD's.

It was amazing! better than the last time I went!!

  • Disappointing

by UWBadgerGirl on 7/6/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 3 out of 5

I was so excited to attend this show. The Fray we great when I saw them a few years ago at the US Cellular Stage. However, the show really did not meet my expectations. Overall, they just seemed to lack any energy. Sure, some of the new songs have a bit a darker tone, but there should still be some energy from the show. They never really seemed to engage with the audience and any time they did, it almost seemed forced, like they felt like they were supposed to say something. The opener, Jack's Mannequin, seems to do a better job of getting the crowd excited and people energized. Maybe The Fray is better suited for smaller, more intimate venues. In the Aphitheater, they just seemed off. I'm glad I went, but it was over all and underwhelming performance. Probably the least amount of fun I've had at any concert in a long time.

  • INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
