About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • Fray put on an awesome show in the storm

by akira123 on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Right as they came on, it started raining very heavily.. It was more like a Monsoon. I thought the show was going to be cancelled for sure.. However, they kept playing through the brunt of it. It was an amazing show to hear them play while it was raining and thundering in the background, they still sounded great!

  • Wet, but fun.

by Handel21 on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

It rained really hard, and since Chastain is an outdoor amphitheatre, we got really wet. But most people stayed, which made the bands happy. The music was good, but my seat was pretty far back for the price I paid (top dollar, and 2/3 of the way back from the stage.) If I go to another concert here, I will make sure to get my ticket early. I had not seen or heard of Jack's Mannequin before that day, and I really enjoyed their music and the antics of their lead singer.

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome!

by MrsMoss on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Despite the downpour The Fray was flawless and fantastic! Jack's Mannequin (pardon the spelling) was great too!

  • The Fray were an Absolute splendor!

by Shawns on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Can I give them more than 5 stars?! The Fray, as usual, exceeded the parameters of a "good" concert. I saw them in concert a couple of years ago and was bowled over by what a great show they put on...never disappointing! I could not pass up the opportunity to see them again, I even bought two tickets and almost went alone. It was worth every penny!! Even if no one had joined me. It rained sheets in this outdoor venue...buckets even and they played anyway! I loved their loyalty. They even got out in the rain a little themselves. I stood in the rain with other die hard Fray fans and sang my heart out as did they amid thunder and lighting skies to songs we've sang a million times over no doubt. It was a SPECTACULAR event!! How long until the next tour?!?

  • just a little rain?

by justjoshua on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

hardly enough to keep them from playing. the fray is one of the best live shows i've seen. such a pleasure to have seen them at 2 of atlanta's best venues ... the tabernacle and now chastain. hopefully next is the fox!! i thoroughly enjoyed the show - too bad some couldn't weather the storm.

  • really good!

  • The Fray at Chastain

by Pete231923 on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The event was great. It rained throughout most of the concert but they went on playing and the majority of the people stuck around. Overally I was very impressed with the event and the performance

  • Rainy Fray Show was AMAZING!!

by SportyLexy on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Just a short review: As it poured over Chastain and all fans were either running to the sides to stay dry or standing and getting drenched, the fray played on. They put on the best show ive seen at Chastain yet. There is something electric about standing in the pouring rain while they play on stage.

  • Rocking in the Hurricane!

by Thompsonlive on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Absolute down pour with lighting and both bands kept playing the WHOLE TIME! INSANE! favorite concert experience EVER! Jack's Mannequin was my favorite but The Fray did amazing as well! HIGHLY recommended

  • Even the rain couldn't dampen The Fray and Jack's!

by nlombardi3 on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

First off at this show it was pouring through half of Jack's set and about 95% of The Fray's (and this was at Chastain Park, a completely open amphitheater), but a majority of the crowd stayed because it was such a great show. The show opened up with Jack's Mannequin, and while early on the crowd was not very excited about them, they played an awesome one hour set. As they played on they drew the crowd in more and more and towards the end everyone was enjoying their amazing songs. All in all they exceeded expectations (I love their cd's, had never seen them live) and were fun to watch. Next came the Fray, who have come a long way in their talents, stage presence, and overall show set up. I have always loved their music and saw them about two years ago, it was a great show but they did not have the same presence and polish of some other big names. But all that changed this time around, they were exciting, engaging, and the quality of the music was top notch. They didn't play a cover song like last time (Hips Don't Lie), which I was bummed about, but they go through almost all of "How to Save a Life" and "The Fray" so I couldn't complain.

  • Solid

by sbarruf on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Jack's Mannequin always rocks and the Fray was better than I expected. Highly recommend listening to both bands newest albums first so you will enjoy more.

  • Love Jack's Mannequin- give them sound!

by AtlD78 on 7/14/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

I LOVE Chastain and this show proved no different. Even in the rain, the Fray gets 5 stars. Though, I must confess, I bought tickets for Jack's Mannequin not the Fray. They are my absolute favorite. Unfortunately, the sound quality for Jack's Mannequin was severly lacking. Despite the band's extraordinary talent, the sound sytem made them sound like your brother's garage band when compared to the Fray.

  • The Fray was AMAZING!!!

    by Flake134 on 7/13/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

After seeing and listening to The Fray with Jack Maniquin, I would definitly go and see them again. Getting the tickets was easy also. Great Concert! The best one I have been too!

  • The Fray w/ Jack's Mannequin - averagely average

by LeoG on 7/12/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 3 out of 5

The Fray's light & video show was awesome! The opening act that played before Jack's Mannequin was, quite simply, bizarre and unnecessary. There were some people on stage that thought it was fabulous, but the audience in the paying seats was mystified by what they had just witnessed. Music for Jack's Mannequin and the Fray was OK, but for me was overshadowed by muddy, unitelligible lyrics - a sign that either the soundsystem, or those that set it up for the show (and monitored it throughout the show), need to be replaced as soon as possible. Having said all that, my expectations tend to be a little high - I saw the Foo Fighters at the 105th Harley Davidson Anniversary in 2008 with 55,000 other fans, and Fray / Jack's Mannequin, you are not the Foo Fighters - but it is a lofty perch you can strive for.

  • so good i had to see them twice

by jbird on 7/12/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I just saw these guys two weekends in a row cuz i couldn't get enough. great show..great band...great time

  • Jack's & the Fray = Best Show A SummerFest

by amontijo on 7/9/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The energy and passion that both groups played with made the show. no other show can have two of the better piano rock groups playing together.

  • It was ok

    by Afm536 on 7/9/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 3 out of 5

Not bad- they performed great and all, but there set was kinda stale and there energy wasn't always apparent, so it got boring at times

  • The Fray was Awesome

by DanMan on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome live! They are my favorite band and it was awesome getting to see them in concert for the first time

  • The 4th of July with The Fray!

by ihopeuhadthetime on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

I was disappointed with the first half of the show. I did not even realize it was the first half of the show until on of my friends (who happened to be an usher for the concert) told me. Based on what The Fray said before they left the stage, I thought that was it. So I started to head out of The Marcus. I was not all that happy with the performance. However, as I was leaving my friend waved me over and told me to go sit down. After I went and sat down, I found out The Fray was coming back out. The second halfof the show was amazing. I loved the second half way better than the first. My favorite part was when one of the members of The Fray came out after they said their good-byes and thank yous. He played one of my favorite songs by himself. Then the rest of the band came out and played two more songs before they called it a night. This was the longest concert I have ever been to (4hrs. total- Jack's played for about 20 mins, stage change lasted about 30 mins, The Fray played for about an hour, stage change/break for another 30 mins, then the last hour and a half they played). I would definitely go and see them again! :)

  • A little dissappointed...

by meandthemoon on 7/7/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

i had seen both bands before and thought their previous shows were better. jack's mannequin was good but i missed andrew talking so much between songs. he came on and started playing song after song after song. it was good because for a 45 minute set they played a lot of songs. but this was the third time i saw andrew with jack's mannequin and i saw him twice when he was with something corporate and i definitely liked when he would introduce songs and tell stories. i missed that at this show. i also saw the fray when they toured for their last album with the same friend i saw this concert with. i left early during the fray's set to go to a different stage at Summerfest and didnt regret it. of course, i will be seeing the show again in a couple weeks. my friend stayed and enjoyed the show but she said they seemed to drag out their songs and that the 4 song encore went on much too long (and you usually dont hear anyone complain about that!) although i didnt think it was either groups best performance, i would recommend it to others. jack's mannequin has a contagious energy and to me that's worth going to see. i look forward to seeing this concert again and to see all of the fray's set.
