About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • Fray AND Jack's Mannequin were great

    by Specialk5401 on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

Both the Fray and Jack's Mannequin were amazing. I had only recently even heard of Jack's Mannequin but I was very impressed by their performance. It really made the concert great, especially considering how often I don't even pay attention to openers.

  • Over My Head

by Risha on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

I would highly recommend seeing the Fray. They actually sound better live than on cd. The vocals were very clear. The only problem I had was the lack of security at Merriweather. Why are 16 year olds watching lawn? A fight almost broke out in front of me and nothing was really done.

  • The Fray's good!

    by Chancellor11 on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

The Fray did great, but the overall experience was enhancced by the great seats and view of stage. The organization was also very decent. The whole experience was enjoyable from the band to the atmosphere to the seats to the organization.

  • THE FRAY + SUMMER THUNDERSTORMS = AMAZING.

by lilbit23 on 7/15/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

It poured down rain & there were terrible thunderstorms, but The Fray kept up the energy in the ampitheatre & a significant crowd stayed to watch an awesome show :) I know it's cheesy, but the storms added to the music & the lightening seemed to go right along with the stage lighting. It was seriously an AMAZING show!

  • Best concert EVER

by BennyL on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Fray is an amazing band but I still could not believe how great they were in person! I think seeing them live was an unforgettable experience. Also there was so much diversity at the concert. The Fray's music appeals to people of all ages and races. It was definitely the best concert I've ever been to. The lighting, staging, and singing was all fantastic. I hope to see them in concert again soon!! They are such a talented band and seeing them live made me recognize their talent even more.

  • Jacks Mannequin... Amazing!

    by Caitlin0709 on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Not only is Andrew McMahon an amazing musician, but also gives a great performance! I was standing just a few feet from the stage, so most of the time I was focused on stage, but towards the end of the set I turned around and I saw the entire crowd, including those in the lawn seats standing. This kind of reception for an openind band can only be attributed to McMahon's incredible ability to involve the viewer in his performance!

This was my third time seeing the Fray and all I can say if I could afford to go to every Fray show I would. Don't miss out on their show, you won't be sorry.

  • The Fray was AWESOME!!!

by Froggirltracy on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I will never forget seeing the Fray. They are so good live just like recorded. They audience was great at this concernt. Everyone was really just enjoying themselves and listening and singing along. It was like a big family was all together. They really brought people together with their music and it's a time I will never forget. I would love to see them again. The group Jacks Mannequin that played before them was pretty horrible. I would hope that next time they have a better group open for them.

  • Weather an issue but fabulous still!!!!

by valkyrie on 7/15/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I mainly went to the show to see Jack's Mannequin and they are absolutely fabulous!! When the Fray came on it started to get rainy but still they kept me interested in trying to stick around and hope that the weather turned around. We ended up having to leave early since it wouldn't stop pouring rain but the part of the concert that I saw was completely worth it.

  • Great!

Could've used one fewer opening bands... but The Fray was awesome!

Jack's Mannequin and the Fray put on an awesome show. We were up front in the pit which was incredible!

  • The Fray has the last Say !!

by steveandfamily on 7/15/09Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Fray is officially big-league. Not even two songs into the concert, the Toronto crowd was willingly captured. My wife and I (late forties) know thier hit songs, but honestly, not knowing the extent of their music or skill, expected fill-in music the rest of the concert. I was so wrong. They are as good as anyone including Coldplay- period. Their music and lyrics are authentic, genuine and deep- a refreshing alternative to much of pop banality. The most beautiful part for my wife and ? My 14 and 11 year old loved the concert and connected with The Fray and its' overall message that points to God as the agent of authentic relationships e are to have with our fellow human beings. The Toronto crowd was classy, nice for us Americans from Connecticut to experience.

  • Awesome SHow

by KittyCarolina on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I skipped the Jack's Mann. cuz I didn't know who they were but I took my BF who is not into this genre of music and he loved it. He went out and bought the cd and plays it in his car! The lights, the performances, the music all great.

  • The Fray was entertaining.

    by Brendan7 on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

The rain held off, fortunately! We were in the lawn, dancing and enjoying our evening. The light show and special effects were an added bonus.

  • The Fray was great!

Jack's Mannequin was a really good group, exciting and fun. The Fray was amazing. Sound better live than on their recordings, they really feel all of their music and the staging is awesome!

  • The Fray ROCKS

    by drew3689 on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Fray was very impressive in concert. I was always a big fan, but skeptical about going to see them live. They did not dissapoint.

  • Jacks Mannequin was great

by BreePree on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 3 out of 5

Jacks Mannequin was great..I would pay to see them again as the headliner. The Fray even though I am a fan seemed to be a little off key, but they where still good, prefer to listen to them on CD instead of Live...

  • Fray and Jack Mannequin

    by noname22 on 7/15/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent! The Fray was good - as expected... but Jack Mannequin was fabulous!

  • Good show but too much rain

by AwesomeGuy090 on 7/15/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

This show was good. I thought Jack's Mannequin was ok (I've never heard them before), but The Fray rocked it. The only bad part was the rain. It was less hot, but there was too much. The floor flooded and my shoes got soaked. I was on the floor and got a free fan, but I never got a program and was hoping to get one.
