About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • Not worth the money

Jack's and The Fray both put on great performances, but for the price of tickets for even the lawn seats, the show was way too short. Both bands only played for about 45 minutes and we were out of the concert by 10:30. For two pretty well known bands I expected more from the concert.

There were 4 of us that went to the show and we all wanted to see the Fray. The show was awesome and we had a great time on the lawn. I would definitely recommend the Fray's show to anyone!

I really enjoyed seeing The Fray @ the DTE Energy Music Theatre. Seating was great, the service was great, the screens were nice and the selections by the band were perfect. Loved the venue and would come to the DTE Energy Music Theatre again!!

Jack's Mannequin and The Fray are simply amazing live. This concert was hands down the best concert I've been to.

  • It poured, but it was still amazing!

A huge thunderstorm just sat on top of the open-air venue the whole time, but few people left because The Fray were putting on such a good show. They played all my favorite songs, too! And as an added bonus, I discovered Jack's Mannequin (the opening act)...I'd never heard of them and now I LOVE them. Great show!

I loved the concert. The Fray rocked. I loved their songs. Jack's Mannequin was great too. We had great seats and it was a perfect night!

I was sitting in the lawn, and I enjoyed the show.

  • One of the best shows I've been to in a while

by AllG on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

This show was incredible. Granted I would have loved to see Jack's Mannequin play for longer but regardless both bands put on a great live show.

I really enjoyed this concert. It is hard to find bands that actually sound as great in person as they do on their albums. The Fray is one of them :-)

  • Great Time

This concert was everything that I hoped it would be. The Fray did not disappoint at all. Along with Jack's Mannequin, the Fray were very energetic and they played a great set list with a awsome encore which included their cover of Heartless by Kanye West.

  • I'm over my head!

My boyfriend and I went to this concert together. I had seen the Fray many years ago at a bar in Louisville, KY. They were barely popular at that time, but put on a great show. This show definitely topped it. It was more of a production; the lights, etc added a nice touch. We were super pleased and would love to see them again when in our area.

I mainly went to this concert because of Jack's Mannequin, but the Fray put on an amazing show and I was very happy that I attended this concert. I wish my friends and I would have gotten there a little bit earlier though. We arrived an hour before the first band went on and we already had to sit at the top of the hill.

  • Fray w/Jack's Mannequin

by Ritch on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 2 out of 5

The Fray need work. The lead singer needs to actually pronounce the words that he sings - including (this is very important) the ends of the words he sings. While the Fray have good musiciainship and reasonably good melodies, harmonies and lyrics. The lead singer's vocal qualities spoil it all. While I LOVED the first album and accepted "the faults"; after seeing them live - I wash my hands of them. Jacks's Mannequin was awesome and should have headlined.

I really didn't care for Jacks Mannequin, as I have never heard of them before. And after hearing their music I didn't really care for them. The lead singer talked too much about how fantastic him and his band is. But I really loved the Fray (as always), they put on an amazing show. I have been to several shows and the Fray never disappoints me. Maybe have a better "warm-up" band next time?

I love The Fray and was excited for the concert, but when I heard Jack's Mannequin was opening for them I had no idea what to expect since I've never heard of them. We showed up a bit late and missed the first act, but found a spot on the lawn just in time for Jack's to start - we were right in the middle and the weather was beautiful. I must say, I just might be Jack's newest fan! I'm so glad we didn't miss any of their songs because they were great! By the time The Fray came on, I was in such a good mood. Sound was great, music was great, people around us were great - it was just a wonderful night. And the first concert my husband has ever went to and he was sold. We're now looking for tickets for more shows this summer. I even bought a Jack's shirt at the end of the night, which came with info on how to download their latest album. The next day I was buying a bunch of songs off iTunes too. Only negative I can think of at DTE are the screens on top of the Pavillion - they're in black & white and could probably stand to be upgraded to color. Overall, it was a great time. Traffic was tough coming in & out, but that's to be expected. Can't wait for our next show!

  • The Fray

by sorry4u on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 1 out of 5

I have never left a show in my life, but I guess there is always a first time. I was sorry that this was the one. I was so hyped to see this show, but the bass was up so loud that I could not understand the vocals, so I left. I can't believe that the poor sound quality went unnoticed at DTE. A total waste of money!!!

  • The Fray: Great show - not long enough!

by LindsayW on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

The Fray sound fantastic live but oh my gosh, their set list was TOO SHORT.

  • Jack's Mannequin :)

    by kjanae04 on 7/16/09DTE - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show. I am a huge Jack's Mannequin fan and I noticed a lot of people at the show who had come for the fray ended up leaving with Jack's Mannequin CDs. The Fray did a great job, Isaac is quite the performer. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is a fan of JM or the Fray or just piano rock in general!

  • Coldplay was great!

by centipedeintime on 7/16/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Coldplay gave a great performance. It was at an outdoor ampitheatre and it rained almost the entire show, and I mean it rained bad. It didn't let up till the end, but that didn't dampen coldplay's show and they gave it their all. Jack's mannequin was a great opening act and I think their star will continue to rise. This is a great double bill and catch it if you can!

  • GREAT SHOW!!

Vocals were flawless. I was there more for Jack's Mannequin. Although, both bands did an awesome job!
