About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

Outdoor stage was a great place to see them. They sounded amazing and the light show was really incredible. The crowd was cool too. Would see them again if they came back!

  • What a talented group

From start to finish The Fray displayed their amaIng musical, vocal, and songwriting talents. Their music is so emotional and genuine and they shared that with the audience. Tons of great songs performed to perfection. One of the best concerts I have been to in years.

Can't remember the first band's name, Jack's Mannequin was amazing, and the Fray need to work on their live show.

I hadn't been to a concert since seeing the Who in the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. I really like a number of the songs the Fray put out, and decided to take my pre-teen son and a couple of his friends to their first concert. A right of passage I once experienced with Pat Benetar and Billy Squire. The concert had something for everyone. I felt like everyone connected with the mood of the night. We were in the orchestra pit with good vibes all around. The band was on and we took it all in the whole night. What can I say. It made me want to go to another concert the next night. It was almost a religious experience. I felt like the music and lighting presented something different each song. Well Done! Made me check other dates in nearby cities to do it all over. Bravo!

  • I fell in love with The Fray all over again

I cannot find the words to describe how amazing the concert was from beginning to end.

  • The Fray was good!

by cmatlock87 on 7/17/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

Concert was decent; they are my favorite band. They seemed to have changed a bit, especially since I first saw them 2 years ago at DTE as well. This was a 'bigger' show, more lights and stage stuff. They weren't as personable with the audience as they were before. It was a little disappointing.

  • The Fray at DTE Music Theater - 2009

by ConcertJunkie1969 on 7/17/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

The Fray gave an excellent concert. They played for well over 1.5 hours. They played all their well known songs. The crowd brought them out for an encore which included FOUR songs, not the typical 1 or 2. The only thing I like which I did not hear was a cover song. I always think that is a unique "add" to a live concert experience. But overall, it was a great concert!

  • The Fray are Fantastic

Really cool stage set up! Great opening band! Sounded excellent! Lawn was way to packed, though.

  • Jack's Mannequin: My reason for going

by dizzlekizzle on 7/17/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

I recently had the please of attending The Fray with Jack's Mannequin, however, the show should have been Jack's Mannequin with The Fray. Jack's Mannequin played a decent set of about 10 songs from their first and their most recent albums. The intensity of lead singer Andy is unmatched and his passion for his music. If you are unfamiliar with Jack's Mannequin, I highly recommend you purchase a CD and give it a listen.

  • The Fray was AWESOME!!!!!

The Fray was phenomenal!!! Jack's Mannequin was awesome! Both band were very entertaining and they all performed as if they were headlining the show! A show for all ages! We were dancing around and singing along! We are very happy with everything!

  • The fray and jacks mannequin were unbelieveable

    by Natnat129 on 7/17/09PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

They both were fantastic. I mostly went for the fray but I knew of jacks mannequin. They were both excellent live bands and I really had a good time.

  • I will marry Andrew McMahon

by Liabia on 7/17/09PNC PAVILION - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

The evening started in the more quaint amphitheatre setting with Richard Walker's band in a humdrum-happy-go-lucky type of mood. Next of course was my forever favorite Jack's. Andrew took the stage with such humble swagger that every girl in the stadium could not help but melt in their seat and/or their standing place if they were as lucky as me to be as close to him as legally possible. He played with passion and enthusiasm as if it were his last show and covered all the favorites as well as a cover ot two. He was great, as always and made the concert well worth coming to if it would have been just him by himself with an acoustic guitar. The Fray lived up to their standard of never being able to disappoint. Their energetic electricity flowed through the whole auditorium as if it were their job, err. They livened and encouraged the crowd and satiated many musical tastes. Their light show was to die for and their charisma like no other. They seem so genuine like the guys next door that made it and I couldn't have been happier to have experienced that night.

  • Awesome Awesome Concert!!!

by stal25 on 7/17/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best concert of the summer yet. They played all their popular songs and were awesome up close and personal. Wish they were on stage longer though:(

  • Really enjoyed it

by hobart on 7/17/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

I thought that Jack Mannequin was great, although McMahon looked like he needs to be freed up from his piano so he can really perform as fully as he wants to. The Fray was great as well. I really like their sound, Isaac Slade's voice is unforgettable.

  • The best concert I've ever seen!!

    by marley22 on 7/17/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

This is by far the best concert I have ever seen. Not only was The Fray amazing but Jack's Mannequin was terrific. For anyone questioning whether to see this concert, do yourself a favor and go see these two great bands! Amazing!!!
