About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

I would highly recommend going to see these guys. They are just amazing and I've never been to a concert that made you feel included with audience participation like this one, same with the opening act of Andy Grammer. And Andy gets you all excited and pumped with his feel good music and you're so ready for The Fray by the time they come out. It was just so fun. I was on my feet the whole time.

  • Andy Grammer & The Fray were Unforgettable!!

I have lived in Iowa pretty much my whole life and I have NEVER been to the state fair. So when I saw my wife's favorite band of all time (The Fray) was going to be right here in Iowa at a wonderful venue I jumped on it. The t-shirts and such cost more than the tickets for the concert, fair admission and $50 in food tickets. We will ALWAYS come here every year until I am no longer here on this earth :)

Simply awesome! They sounded great and had a lot of energy. Really had the crowd from beginning to end!

  • The Fray good, Andy Grammer AWESOME!!!

by NikoMan on 8/23/15Illinois State Fairgrounds Il State Fair - SpringfieldRating: 5 out of 5

Andy Grammer stole the show in this one. He put on a SHOW and his band behind him was funny as entertaining as well. It's really a shame The Fray had to follow him or else I might have enjoyed them a bit more. But compared to Andy, The Fray just felt like an over-emotional washup trying to will the crowd alive by singing intimately into the microphone rather than the crowd. His herky-jerky dance-walk around the stage made it all the more awkward to watch. THAT being said, The Fray still sounded like The Fray, so it was still a good concert and enjoyable to watch/hear. The Fray's only issue was the fact they had to play AFTER Andy Grammer had won the crowd over from working the stage and straight up rocking out.

  • The Fray was ridiculously amazing!!!

Isaac's voice is incredible live. CD's just can't capture the quality of his voice. Great performance! Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed show and they played all of the hits some I did not even remember they sang until they did it like You Found Me and Don't Let Me Go. I went just expecting to enjoy How To Save A Life and Over My Head (Cable Car). I wish I had brought a fold up chair or something to sit on other than the hard curbside.

  • The Fray was amazing . Love them

The show was surprisingly good. I love The Fray and still wasn't expecting much from the concert. The guys are amazing and Isaac Slade sounds just like in the records. His voice and his passion for the songs come out beautifully and creates this powerful and enjoyable feeling that can only be described as celestial.
