About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • The Fray Sets a Standard

by FrayHaze on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Before coming to the Fray concert, I generally passed over their music whenever it shot out of my stereo. Now, after witnessing their concert live, I now choose to leave the channel and at least tap/sing along. Not only was their light display ascetically pleasing but their music was powerful.

  • The Fray and Jack's Mannequin were unflippin real.

    by ClaireG3 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I can't even begin to explain how amazing this concert was. It was my first Fray concert and it exceeded my expectations. While I knew little about the opening band, Meese, they played four or five songs that I enjoyed and I will definitely be checking out their album. Then, JACK'S MANNEQUIN came on. Jack's Mannequin became one of my favorite bands after seeing them at the State Fair last year. They were lovely. Andrew McMahon is one of the greatest pianists I've ever heard live. He keeps the crowd happy and they played an amazing set (at least an hours worth). I love them. And then, the moment had arrived, The Fray! As I said earlier, they were incredible. For being sort of a softer pop-rock piano-based band, they really know how to rock out and connect to the audience as I have never seen before. Interestingly enough, after their set was done, people were still screaming for more! They walked back onto that stage and entertained us with at least five or six more songs as an encore, including 'Vienna' and an acoustic cover of Kanye West's 'Heartless'. They even told us "we don't say this very often, and we haven't said it yet on this tour, but you guys are the greatest crowd...you've supported us from the beginning." It was definitely a night I will never forget.

  • the amazingly awesome fray/ jacks mannequin concer

by fredreck on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

the wait was very anticipating, and once the groups came out, they rocked out. The meece, at least i think its spelt, were very good to listen to and had great style. jack's mannequin's perfomance was wonderful, with jumping ontop of pianos and the spotlights for the soloists. The fray was absolutely amazing! The light show with the background pictures were very interesting and went with the mood of the songs. I liked the video of each individual performer and how it was in a sephia shade not just black and white. All in all, it was a great show. Everyone in the audiance was singing and dancing. It was a very enjoyable time.

  • The fray was absolutely amazing!

    by kim21 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The fray had some pretty good people opening up for them. Meese was really good and so was jacks mannequin. Jacks mannequin got the crowd pumped and ready for the fray. When the fray came on it was certainly unforgettable. It was my friends and mine 20th birthday, and this concert was way better than anything else we could have planned.

  • The Fray was awesome!

by Fliptop on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It was truly one of the best concerts that I've seen in the last 10 years! The only negative comments that I would make are that the sound quality of the first two bands was pretty bad. The bass was a big blob of rumbling noise that had no clear definition to it...I'm not sure if the soundman was horrible or if it was the venue. Thankfully the sound for the Fray was dialed in much better. Thanks for a great night!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Fray is Amazing!

by kjsassy on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I don't go to many concerts, but the Fray is definitely one I had to see. I had seen them a few years back as well, and I believe they just keep getting better! They are amazing and I would reccommend if you like the Fray, you should see at least one of their concerts.

  • Jack's Mannequin STOLE the show!

by jreeses on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

While the Fray put on a good show, typical to most of it's fans, it was Jack's Mannequin that truly got the crowd going right away. Their upbeat music and fun style made it incredible for the audience. I was already a fan, now I'm obsessed :)

  • Great Show!

I had a fantastic night last night with the Fray and Jack's Mannequin! Both really engaged the crowd, and for me, in the general adminssion area,I forgot that I was at a big venue show and enjoyed every moment!

  • The Fray played an outstanding show!!

    by SwanyBoy23 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Each song was incredible! The crowd was so into it which made everything even more amazing. Jack's Mannequin were also outstanding. I've seen The Fray four times now, this was by far the best. Overall, one of the better concerts I've seen.

  • Target Center Was The Place To Be!

by kimmyandPunk on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The whole concert was great. Jack's Mannequin had nothing but energy the whole show! And not to mention the way he plays that piano and sings! The Fray was Fabulous, as well. I'm embarrassed that our own Twin Cities music critic gave them a poor review. We did NOT go see "Coldplay", so why keep comparing them. Nor, did they "have to move on stage" like AC/DC! The Fray is The Fray,... not pretending to be someone they are not. It was an excellent show, and everyone in the house seemed to think so too! Isaac even made mention that we were his BEST audience, and that they have been to MN 9 times! Now with that being said...I believe they delivered another wonderful show, so ignore the Pioneer Press Review....Please!

  • Great Show

by lovejacksmannequin on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Jack's Mannequin was completely amazing. Everything I remembered them to be and more. He has such stage presence and works the audience so well, I fall into a trance with every song. The Fray was quite good as well, the light and video effects made it pretty entertaining.

  • Even better live than on album!

    by frayfan17 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The Fray performed as well, if not better, than they did on both of their albums! They played a good mix of songs from both of their albums, and did a great job on all of their songs. I would highly recomment seeing them perform in concert!

by eunicelouise on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

So I was taken there for my birthday by my friend. We decided to go last minute, and still had decent seats. My favorite song is "Happiness" which they started out playing a little bit of, then ended with it as their very last song. Goosebump worthy! I posted on my facebook what a great concert it was right away. We go to tons of concerts but it easily takes a top seat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Fray was epic

When going to attend The Fray concert I couldn't have been more excited. I did not expect the concert to be so amazing and it really opened my mind up. Through life I have had to face many obstacles and as I've grown up The Fray's music has been here to help me.

  • The Fray Deliver

by TKAHC on 7/21/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

The staging, the sound quality, the music. The Fray delivers a show that that is tight and really entertaining. The music comes through even in an outdoor theater setting. It appealed to both a young and a mature crowd... now when was the last time Mom and Dad agreed with the kids!
