About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • Absolutely amazing.

    by Hanbone05 on 7/22/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was fantastic. Jack Mannequin had so much energy it got you pumped up. The Fray came out a lot more rock than their CDs and I was incredibly sad to see it end. I am a life long fan now for sure!

jacks mannequin show was outstanding. their showmanship was great; although vocals could've been louder on some songs. the fray show was pretty good. the vocals and piano were very good -but alot of the songs sounded the same

  • Fray = AMAZING

    by onelove29 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I saw the Fray a few years back at Basilica Block Party and seeing them again last night gave me a million new reasons (as well as reminders) as to why I love them and their music so much. They have really transformed since I saw them a few years back and I could not be happier with where they are at right now. They have such a wonderful stage presence and are very genuine in their songs. They got the audience involved and it was wonderful to see how touched people were with certain songs... an absolutely beautiful show!

  • The Fray: Amazing. Jack's Mannequin: Awesome

    by Hunter02300 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The opening band "Jack's Mannequin" was as awesome as anything could ever be. They solidified themselves as my favorite band. They we engaging, energetic and sounded better than their albums. The Fray were unforgettable. They were energetic, fun and amazing.

  • The Fray = Amazing

by JPJP on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was WELL worth the $50 I paid for the ticket. The Fray was actually only on stage for probably an hour and a half or a little bit more, which was shorter than I was expecting. The lead singer didn't do as much talking as I expected either; for the most part, they rolled through the song list without much interruption. But the music was FANTASTIC. You know how some bands/singers' voices actually suck live? Not these guys. They are great. A good mix of old and new songs too. Great lighting. And again, awesome music. Definitely recommended.

  • This Concert made my year!

    by kik08 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Meese was a great opening act they worked perfectly with Jack's Mannequin and The Fray. Jack's Mannequin really got the crowed going which was incredible and The Fray was just outstanding. They were really interactive with the crowd and even came back out on the stage after they were done and played another 5 songs and told a few stories. It was like a bonding experience. I will be attending every Twin City Fray Concert from here on out! Loved IT!

  • Best Concert of My Life So Far!

by joesorensen on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing. Simply put. Amazing. Meese--the opener--is a new band that I will definitely look into more. The piano playing was very enjoyable and the tunes were very melodic and catchy. They definitely put on a good "opening band" show. They talked to the crowd, said they would see us at the merch tables, and actually did. Jack's Mannequin. Oh. My. God. More than amazing. And I yelled "You're amazing, Andrew." And he replied "Thank you." They played a small venue feel to a huge arena and pulled it off perfectly. Extremely high energy. Sound was spectacular. Great Tom Petty cover. Nice work with the lights and the sound. Perfect feel for JM. AND they played my favorite SoCo song! The Fray. They were certainly the headliners, and they put on a headliner/arena show. Lights, sounds, the whole works. The music was great (all the singles were played, and you could definitely tell that most of the crowd only knows them from Grey's Anatomy). The cover of "Heartless" was spectacular and they played an awesome mix of old and new tunes. Go. Now.

  • The Fray concert!

    by KK012 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I thought that The Fray concert was extremely good! They put on such a good show and played really well live. I thought that the vocals sounded even better live! Jack's Mannequin did a pretty good job too, but overall I thought The Fray was much better. I would recommend seeing them in concert. They were very entertaining!

  • The Fray KILLED it!!!

  • Amazing!!!

by LMJSS on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This was by far one of the best concerts I've been to. The Fray put on an amazing performance and Jack's sounded unbelievable. I'd definitely recommend this!

  • If you like their music...

by allaboutthemusic on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

If you like their music, then I recommend seeing The Fray in concert. Their stage show is nothing to speak of - but they sound great live. The Fray only played for about 1 1/2 hours which was disappointing.

  • Jack's Mannequin > The Fray.

    by ohmahon0903 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Though The Fray was the headlining band, it was clear who won over the crowd. Andrew McMahon, the frontman of Jack's Mannequin and the former Something Corporate, drew his own crowd to the concert, not only entycing his already dedicated fans but also newcomers that had come to experience The Fray. By the end of McMahon's hour long set, everyone in The Target Center was up and moving, whether they had been familiar with Jack's Mannequin's songs such as Holiday From Real and The Mixed Tape, as well as a classic Something Corporate song, Watch the Sky, that Andrew dedicated to his fans that had been with them along the 10 year journey between the making of Something Corporate and the creating and rising of his current band, Jack's. It was clear who should have been headlining the tour. Though The Fray drew fans in with flashy light shows and cool moves, it was Andrew McMahon who really showed the talent. Jack's Mannequin kept it simple with basic lights and let their music and energy do the talking. Being a long time Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate fan, I was thrilled to find that many of the attendees who had come soely for The Fray had seen the energy and pure musical talent that Andrew and the band posessed..

  • The Fray was Unbelievable!!!!!!

    by Doyle55 on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Lets just say I did not sit down the whole time they were on stage,(and I was in the seats.) it was such a great show and it kind of pisses me off the a writer in the newspaper bashed them, my wife and I thought it was great!

  • The Fray was good, but not at the Target Center

by AChristineF on 7/22/09Target Center - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen the fray twice before and they really perform much better in smaller or at least more intimate venues. This show seemed to emphasize lights and smoke effects over their music and I felt the performance was poorer for it. Bad luck that Joe King lost his voice so he was silent through the whole show. Although the band played on and played well I felt the lack of his presence and that they didn't play my 2 favorite songs that he's lead vocal on. The set list was a good mix of old and new, but they only played for about an hour so quite short after the openers took two and a half hours. The stage itself was nice but a little too much at times with too many video and light effects going on for a Fray concert. At times it felt like I was at a Creed concert circa 2001 because of Isaac's over the top performing and the light show. Overall, great band, love their music, but I prefer the simpler shows I've seen from them in the past.

  • The Fray was Fantastic!

Both the Fray and Jack's Mannequin were fantastic! They put on a great entertaining show, great lighting, and believe it or not the sound is a little better in the Target Center (finally!)
