About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • I miss the old Fray

by Anonymous on 7/15/14Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - PhiladelphiaRating: 1 out of 5

It's sad to see the Fray open for a new, and definitely lamer band like neon trees. Not to mention, seeing them change all their old heartbreakingly beauiful songs to be poppy and upbeat to appeal the drunk teens and preteens that comprise their new crowd of fans.

I liked it but they took too long and there was no seats

The Fray is an awesome band! I thought I loved their music before just by listening to the CDs. But their live performance is so energetic without being over the top. It made me fall in love with their music that much more! If you're a fan and haven't seen them perform live, definitely make plans to do so!

  • Epic

by JTNYC on 7/15/14JBL Live at Pier 97 - Hudson River Park New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This show was brilliant. The opening acts were both great and despite a torrential rain shower before the Fray came on the show was memorable for all the right reasons. The Fray have two main hits, Cable Car and How to Save A Life which were both the expected highlights, however they also have a myriad of other songs which all come across well live. They know how to entertain and put on a good show. The setting was amazing and it looks like a great new NY venue, the skyline behind was lit up by a 'supermoon' and the empire state glowing, which was a great setting for a wonderful show.

  • Best night of my life

by Hayleahsabourin on 7/14/14TD Echo Beach - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Waited there since 2, 5 hours before the doors opened and it was so worth it. Got in the front row. They're my favourite band, I 100% reccomend for anyone, even those who DONT listen to them. They never fail to impress. Again, the best night of my life:)

All 3 bands put on an incredible performance, and the venue itself had a pretty great view of the water and city skyline.

  • The Fray were amazing!

by LouisvilleMusicLovers on 7/9/14Murat Theatre at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The Fray give it their all in concert. We did the Meet and Greet before the show in Indy and it was SO worth the additional price. These guys are really writing and recording some special music and they also happen to be super nice people. They spent time with everyone who did the Meet and Greet and made us all feel special. HIGHLY recommend this show!

  • Great performers

by richwhitemale on 7/2/14Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

I only knew a couple of songs by the band but they were playing at a great small venue so I bought tickets for my girlfriend and I.the band was outstanding exceptionally multi talented musicians and it was just a fantastic time until I met one of the band members mothers and she hit on me. Damn I'm old

  • Marginal Sound Quality

    by Htown62 on 7/2/14Bayou Music Center - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

I hope it was something unique to this particular show, but i felt like the sound quality was mediocre at best. I've been to many shows at the BMC so it was not an issue with the venue. I would have liked to have heard his voice louder and the guitars a little crisper instead of the muzzled thumping of the kick drum and bass.

  • LOVE THE FRAY!

by l0vefashion on 6/30/14FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I am HUGE fan of The Fray and have now seen them for the 7th time. The venue was different than I had in my head but as for the concert, they rocked it, per usual! Keep it up, boys! :)

  • Great evening

by SOGor on 6/29/14FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Really glad we attended this concert. Was a great evening from start to finish. Parking free with ticket price (love that), walked partially from Soldiers Field parking, then jumped on trolly. Great driver, funny....be sure to tip! Got there for the second back up band, Barcelona, really enjoyed them. Great music, lead singer has incredible voice and great interaction with the audience. (have been watching their you tubes today.... check out "Background" - great song, interesting video). Think we'll be seeing a lot more of them. Beer was cold, vendors nice, (parent volunteers for their kids' sports team), love the Fat Tire. Totally foggy, but kinda added to the night. The stands were blocking the wet mist from the lake for us. Frey was great. Beautiful voice. Loved the spiritual....same one the Avett Brothers do at their concerts, but you guys had a different twist. Took one of those bike caddies back to the parking, young man from Downers Grove who is working his way to U of I in the fall. Good luck! Exited parking quickly. Note: Pics are also from the following evening (Ray Lamontagne)...section 304....just down a bit, but about the same (305 better)

  • Wish I Could See The Fray Again and Again!

by ritzgrrl on 6/29/14FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The more I think about the show in retrospect, the more I wish I could follow the entire tour. The setlist combined all their hits, during which the crowd screamed out each word back at the band, plus a good mix of new songs. The show was mostly high-energy with pockets of slower-tempo emotional songs to break up the action. I looked up past setlists ahead of time, so I knew what to expect. The only substitution I would've wanted was to switch out Joe's song with "Rainy Zurich" instead of "Ungodly Hour," but that's a personal preference. My favorite song to see live was probably "Wherever This Goes" where Dave took the piano and Joe and Isaac shared a microphone. I knew the first timeI heard that song on the new album that it would be the perfect song live, and I was not disappointed.

  • the fray was perfection

    by allison13 on 6/22/14Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

this concert was more than expected. Oh Honey and Barcelona, the opening bands were sooo talented and definitely got us pumped up for the Fray. Isaac Slade sounded even better live and so did Joe. It was the best experience of my life.
