Great evening
by SOGor on 6/29/14FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5Really glad we attended this concert. Was a great evening from start to finish. Parking free with ticket price (love that), walked partially from Soldiers Field parking, then jumped on trolly. Great driver, funny....be sure to tip!
Got there for the second back up band, Barcelona, really enjoyed them. Great music, lead singer has incredible voice and great interaction with the audience. (have been watching their you tubes today.... check out "Background" - great song, interesting video). Think we'll be seeing a lot more of them.
Beer was cold, vendors nice, (parent volunteers for their kids' sports team), love the Fat Tire. Totally foggy, but kinda added to the night. The stands were blocking the wet mist from the lake for us.
Frey was great. Beautiful voice. Loved the spiritual....same one the Avett Brothers do at their concerts, but you guys had a different twist.
Took one of those bike caddies back to the parking, young man from Downers Grove who is working his way to U of I in the fall. Good luck!
Exited parking quickly.
Note: Pics are also from the following evening (Ray Lamontagne)...section 304....just down a bit, but about the same (305 better)
