From Tony®, Grammy®, and Academy Award® winner Elton John, Tony-winning director Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County, Steppenwolf Theatre), and Tony-winning producer Kevin McCollum (In the Heights, Avenue Q, Rent, and this season's hit musical SIX) comes The Devil Wears Prada, The Musical.
Runway magazine. The supreme authority of the high-fashion world, and the new home of assistant Andy Sachs. It's a position a million people would kill for, but under the sharp stilettos of Runway's legendary editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, the job is no dream. Up against Miranda's blistering leadership and stratospheric expectations, Andy is pushed to the edge, forced to choose between her career and her own happiness.
Based on the hit film and featuring an all-star creative team led by Elton John and Anna D. Shapiro, with lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub (Suffs at The Public), a book by Kate Wetherhead (Submissions Only), choreography by James Alsop (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), and music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo (Waitress), The Devil Wears Prada, The Musical is a glamorous and hilarious story about finding your place and discovering what matters most.

If I could have given this an extra half star I would have. On the whole, I was entertained. Leads were phenomenal. Feels like it’s missing a song or two, but the story’s too good and the NYC connection is too strong for this one to stop here.
The audience enthusiasm was palpable - just not for me. I left at the intermission.
I did not love this movie, so I’m expectations were low. This musical was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Both my 13 and I loved it! The music was wonderful, the cast was fantastic and the storyline was funnier than I remember from the movie. I cannot recommend seeing this enough!
The seats were great -- Main Floor Orchestra -- but the performance was a "C" at best. Needs work.
Devil Wears Prada was my first Broadway experience and I absolutely loved it! The set design, the choreography, the costumes and the singing was, for a better word, Magical! I wish I experienced Broadway sooner, but rest assured, I purchased tickets to Wicked right after Devil Wears Prada. I’m hooked!
This musical shows how desperate Chicago must be for theater like this: a terrible book, score (really Elton John?), lazy choreography, costuming that came from a store, uninspired set design and average performances packaged with Broadway prices. I think this is an example of producers figuring out how to put on a show just to make money, the public be damned. Frankly, it made me angry that i had spent that much. If this somehow makes it to NYC, it will die a quick death.
Weirdly the music is needing attention. Staging is great, costumes are great; the book is great; choreography is great. Need more blockbuster songs. Nothing sticks. Also sctors are screaming their lines. Thats annoying.
Show was terrific! Loved the music, cast, costumes, choreography, everything about it. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Fun retelling of the book/movie. The friends and boyfriend are boring-- it didn't create the personal vs work pull that it should have. The set transformation from NYC to Paris was awesome...never heard an audience ooh and ahh over sets before! The scene where she quits...shouldn't be in the empty dining room after the lunch. It should have been her and Miranda walking along the river...they could use that bench scenery...she needed to actually walk away...plopping the phone in a pitcher of water was not enough...if walking by the river..she could have thrown it and we could have heard a big splash or something with the ring tone being drowned out...we needed a moment to cheer for her..but not when she flipped it into a water pitcher! Otherwise pace was pretty good and the upbeat vibe was entertaining.
This show was such a blast and genuinely laugh out loud funny. They did a great job of incorporating famous lines from the movie, but the actors definitely made each performance their own and brought new life to each character. It was great to see that Emily and Nigel got their time in the spotlight as well. The songs, costumes, and set design were all beautiful and so clever and creative. Fans of the movie will not be disappointed!
This was a wonderful evening of theater. This was a fun, family-friendly show with incredible set and costume design. The only thing that left more to be desired was the music of the production, which seemed like it lacked an overarching unifying tune. However, the music was still enjoyable and I would still recommend this show if you are either a fan of the book or the movie.
I was already a fan of Devil wears Prada when I booked the show, however the cast, music and set delivered a spectacular performance. You know it’s good when the audience cheered when the set transformed. Yeah, it’s THAT good. When that cast moves the show to Broadway or West End I am there!
While not ready for Broadway, this tryout run was a fun show. Acting was solid, as were sets/costumes. The only real problem is that it follows the movie too much and needs to find an original voice/story. The 2nd act was too predictable. With that said, we had a fun time at the show and look forward to it if/when it comes to NYC.
This musical was wonderful. My friends and I really enjoyed every aspect of this play.
A very enjoyable play! Just a few of the songs were hard to hear and the staging was great but this theater experience made us realize that loge/balcony is now out of the question (at least at the Nederlander) without any railings on the stairs leading to the seats.
I’ve seen the show a few times since it opened in Chicago and honesty, I love it. I’ve read a lot of the reviews and honestly disagree with most of them. The show does need to tighten up before moving to NYC and I would love to see more big dance numbers in the show overall. The leads are awesome and the ensemble is strong and has endured challenges with COVID affecting many shows. Miranda and Andy character need better costuming. As far as character development, the story is easy to follow and I would rather be very entertained and have a grand theater experience rather than hoping a show will make me a better person. This show has potential to be hugely successful!
Stellar peformance by all cast members! So much fun!
Show is okay. Not the best. Had high expirations and missed the bar. Andreas close friends play a larger role and the two characters aren’t the best. Miranda’s character lacks everything. Music is decent bc it’s Elton’s but is it fitting ?
A great show that stayed true to the source material and engaged the audience throughout with witty lines and great music!
