Robert Smith at his very best!
by Canetoads on 11/29/11Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Such a special show - the first three albums in their entirety plus three encores from the same periods. I loved that they played the B-sides from the early songs plus other early songs in three phenomenal encores. Robert Smith seemed to behaving a truly great time. My only complaint has nothing to do with The Cure, it is about the audience. I never had to deal with drunken concert goers and people that where actually talking through the show and playing with their cellphones. There were also people that were holding up their cameras through entire songs for video taping, and holding up their cameras without thought of interrupting the view of the people behind them. Additionally, people in the Loge seats were standing and blocking the view for the people behind them. The Loge section is well graded that every seat gives a full view of the stage, provided that people stay seated. Additionally, though I know that The Beacon Theater must make a small mint off of selling alcoholic beverages, the floors were soaked with spilled drinks and two people next to me were so drunk that one of them spilled their wine on two people sitting in front of them. Security took them out for all of about 10 minutes and then they were back, swaying and talking loudly. The Cure was at their best ever (I'd seen them 8 times previously) and in NO way deserved that disrespect. For the true Cure fans, many of which spent a great deal of money, were robbed of the show going on in front of them by ignorant and rude concert goers. It may have been a very different experience show if people were conscientious of the people around them.
