This play was PHENOMENAL! I’ve never seen so much great acting from the entire cast!! It was a beautiful experience and I suggest if anyone has a chance to see if they should take it. This play made the movie look like a Lifetime Movie special. I’m still stunned at how the actors and actresses did an amazing job at playing their roles. The music was perfect. The entire company was just a Godsend. I will definitely keep a look out for any other plays including anyone from this one.
While familiar with the storyline, I’ve never seen the play nor heard the music. This was a fast paced and moving story full of energy and emotion. The characters were well cast and the vocals were on point. There were, at times, instances where vocals were muffled. The lead, Ms. Celie, held you captive in her journey from simple child to entrepreneur and her voice was wrought with emotion. Excellent performances by Shug, Squeak, and Albert. Of course, Harpo and Sofia stole the show. The minimalist set allowed the story to develop without set changes. Visually excellent.
The venue was local. The cast was amazing. Their performance was outstanding!! Much better then the movie. One of the best musicals I have had the honor of enjoying. Hats off to the entire Color Purple crew!!!
I enjoyed the performances. The vocalist were superb! I could feel the mentions polluting from them. It’s a must see. Must experience!
Event was great! They hit the major highlights of the movie. The actors were funny and sang very well. Didn't know what to expect, but I really enjoyed it.
Singing was fantastic. Love every minute of it. The actors did a beautiful job love the actress who played Miss Celie and Sophia. The songs and storyline really came together.
One of the best shows I have ever seen. The musical was excellent. The cast was very talented.
I wanted more dialogue and less singing. I understand it was a musical, but I feel that more dialogue would have been better. I could not understand anything that Squeek said, so maybe a little less "squeak" and a little more regular voice. I loved Sofia!!
Love This Moment in the presence of the awesome cast. This tour is a must see!! BRAVO!!!!
I have seen the Color Purple 3 times but have decide not to return, because when people bring out their cell phones frequently for texting it is such a bright distraction. Their should be more demand from security that constant cell phone usage is disrespectful for other patrons. Tickets are expensive and you should not have to keep positioning yourself to avoid their cell phone lighting. I suggest theater monitors and security should watchfully monitor this and ask people to exit theater especially if they continue .
Musically roles and connections to audiences was just unbelievable
My wife and I had an Awesome time we plan to it again soon
The entire setup and presentation was unique & wonderful. The singing was outstanding and the story line spot on. It really took me back to my love and respect for the strength and endurance of african american women of my past and the things they taught me. Thank you all for bringing Alice Walker, Celie, Shug, Sofia, Nettie & Squeak back home to visit. It was good to see them.
I enjoy the show it was my first one I’ve been to in a very long time since I left New York Broadway actors was nice dancing and singing was very great
This show was absolutely amazing. The artistic talents of the artists was impeccable. This show is a must see for all audiences.
Along with the wonderful singing, the best part of the production is that it is based more on the novel than the film, which provides the full narrative arc of Alice Walker's message, showing the thorough yet nuanced manner in which Walker's novel examines abuse, sexism, self-discovery, forgiveness, and redemption.
The play was funny as well as eye opening. The performers were great and very talented which made this performance very entertaining.
First I must say the the the play started on time I would have to say the best part for me was the incredible singing of the performers that was was moving and heartwarming there were moments of laughter and moments of sadness but very rewarding at the end if you have not seen the movie in a while you may want to watch it again before seeing the play to make it even more enjoyable it is a must see play you will not be disappointed.
The actress who played Sophia was absolutely wonderful. What a powerful performance. The entire cast did an excellent job. I truely enjoyed it.
