  • "Book of Mormon - The Musical" is hilarious!

by Anonymous on 5/30/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This is a truly funny musical with a lot of heart. I couldn't stop laughing! It treats an absurd subject (white, middle-class Mormon missionaries trying to convert Ugandans to their American-focused religion) by doubling down on all the absurdities inherent in their impossible situation. Not since Monty Python have I seen something that dares to play with such sensitive topics with such a light touch. Not for the thin-skinned or easily trolled!

  • Vaudeville Reinvented

by AWSEDFT on 5/29/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Very well performed by a talented, extremely energetic cast. Unsophisticated, vaudevillian in style, with off-color jokes & occasional crassness to titillate the audience.

  • Best show I've ever seen

Clever, vulgar, & hilariously funny. Never have I laughed so much

  • Book of Mormon was fantastic

by NikitanSuka on 5/27/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Took the inlaws to see Book of Mormon at this theater and it was amazing. I wasn't sure if they would like it because of the subject matter but we all loved it. Our seats were in rows F and G were great. It said partial viewing seats but we wanted the end of rows because the husbands are tall. Plenty of room, wasn't too hot and the only things we couldn't see well were characters coming on stage. We saw more than 90% of everything. It really turned out well and the play was really good.

  • have faith, fun follows

    by DonPasquale2 on 5/27/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

A wonderful blend of music and wisdom, where the sophisticates of America meet the illiterates of Africa and share faith and fun

  • Don't expect a religious experience

by Hereiswu on 5/27/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

The play was technically incorrect and took a lot of artistic license but as long as you remember that this is a comedy and social commentary on the human condition then you can enjoy it.

  • Entertaining and Hysterical!

The show was excellent. It was funny from the beginning until the end.

  • Be prepared to be offended at some point

    by JokersRwild13 on 5/26/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, but I was forewarned to go in with an open attitude as the show does not hold back on its attempt to poke fun at everyone no matter what race, color or creed. The show is definitely not intended for the younger ones, and as long as the adults go in with the attitude they just want to be entertained, then there is plenty of good music and laughter to support the highly irreverent dialogue and story line. If you enjoy using the F-bomb as part of your everyday vocabulary, then this show is for you! Acting and vocal performances were superb. Was pleasantly surprised by the show's musicality, especially songs / performances of the female vocalists. Kudos to the makeup team for the "transformation" of male actors who played the roles of parents sending their sons off to their missions. Great fun. Not enough to every bring me back, but it was still an enjoyable event.

  • Outstanding!! Want to see it again RIGHT AWAY!!

by CrispyMc on 5/25/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Hilarious from beginning to end!! I have no idea how many jokes I missed because the audience was laughing so hard and loud! The lead voices were amazing and the whole cast did his/her part in making the performance such an unforgettable experience!! Not once did it slow down or lose its momentum. Kudos to a great cast! Catchy, quirky tunes and razor sharp writing were expertly handled by all involved. Thanks for a great evening of entertainment!!

Amazing show but not for the faint hearted! A must see!

  • Book of Morman felt pretty tired to me

by nonicknamehasnotbeentaken on 5/24/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

This is what happens when you delay going to a Big Hit for 5 years or however long it has been on Broadway. The Book of Morman was rather sweet, actually, and has clearly lost the shock value of a few years back. I smiled may times throughout the play, but never really laughed. I am not a big fan of bathroom humor and TBoM is full of it, but I did not find it crass, just dulled.

  • A Racist Romp

by Lynched on 5/24/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

Nice staging, snappy choreography and songs, but profoundly racist and national chauvinist. My wife and I were both appalled, looking at each other in shock from fairly early on while the 99.99% white (we are, as well) audience cheered. The AIDs crisis in Africa is trivialized, the Africans are treated as culturally empty vessels who actually could be won over by this group of bozos. Lumping the lawyer who got OJ off with Hitler and Jeffrey Dammar in a dream sequence (which the white audience seemed to really love) says a lot by itself. The antics of a white, racist cop are what provided the doubt that led to Simpson's acquittal.

  • Funny Funny Funny, Profane, Funny!

    by mab5155 on 5/23/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I went to see BOM with my sister. We are children of a Presbyterian minister. The humor hit very close to home. Not sure if an un-churched person would laugh quite as loud. We loved it.

  • Good, but not top 1

by SergFromSeattle on 5/22/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

This play holds its reputation for being funny, even during all the songs. The best part in my opinion are the performances. I recommend being on the front rows to fully appreciate the characters' expresssions, which really add to the humor. Some of the jokes are very off-color, so if you are somewhat sensitive to religion or AIDS, know this in advance. If you have only one night to see a Broadway show, maybe don't make this your priority. You will laugh and you will certainly be entertained though.

  • Are You Kidding Me???

    by Ronay22 on 5/21/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

How this musical has become so lauded is beyond me. I'm a reasonably sophisticated New York denizen, but I was frankly shocked by, and offended at, what passes for humor in this production. Aids is not funny. Songs that joke about sexually assaulting babies is not funny. Genital mutilation is not funny, nor is the constant, gratuitous and childish references to body parts and basic bathroom functions. It is an overwhelming celebration of the mean, the crude, and the ugly. If I was black, I would be picketing the production. They are depicted as ignorant, uncouth and easily manipulated by their white counterparts. The music is as repetitious and thumping as the humor, one song sounding like another. The only thumbs up I can muster is to recognize the amazing talent that created the choreography and the wonderful set designs.
