  • enjoyable

by Janice on 4/3/25Garcia's Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Many inferences to God and Jesus. Mellow. The person next to me was loving the performance too. He sang along for one of the pieces. He told me he is a singer in a choir in a church in Evanston. They sang for a very long time. One told us he is something like 75 years old. Why no rest?

  • Great Music - Lousy Venue

by Tom on 3/31/25Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 1 out of 5

I've been to this theater many times but never in the "ballroom"which is basically the basement. My original tickets where in row 8 but since the show was moved it was now general admission which left me seated 3 rows from the back. Now I said seated but that's another issue. Hard plastic chairs that were lower than a normal fold up and the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. I've been attending concerts in venues and even bars since the 60's and this was, by far my worst experience. CSO should be ashamed, I will never go to another show there. If you know anyone who went to this show ask them how their back and neck felt the next day. Shemekia Copeland and The Blind Boys of Alabama were great. Loved the performance and sound.

  • As good as ever - very good

Entertaining, fun, refreshing performance including their renditions of a few Christmas carols/songs. Very enjoyable evening. Fun; even inspirational, show

  • Blind Boys deliver great blues and gospel

by JIrons on 12/4/24Workplay - BirminghamRating: 5 out of 5

These guys deliver old time blues and gospel. Amazing voices and great band to accompany them. My favorite was there Amazing Grace rendition sung to the tune of The House of the Rising Son, and the end energetic song where the one singer works his way through the audience with the help of his assistant - shaking hands and singing. This is a great show.

The showmanship, coordination of vocals and band were all impressive. I saw them once at Ravinia and were happy to see them again!
