About

The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.

Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.

The Black Crowes Will Blow Your Mind!

by LeeStagger on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

The 2005 reunion of the Black Crowes was a return to form for one of the most underappreciated live acts in rock, but in 2009 the Crowes are finding a stride musically and creatively that is beyond what anyone would have expected. This isn't a band going through the motions. This is a band continuing to explore, continuing to challenge themselves, and continuing to blow the minds of their audience. I've seen the Crowes many times during the past 20 years and for the June18th Hampton Beach show I witnessed a band re-born. If you stopped following the Crowes after 1990's Shake Your Money Maker, you sadly missed out on some fantastic music and some killer live shows, as this band grew by leaps and bounds after their debut album. The good news is it's not too late to make up for lost time and come along for the ride, because in 2009 The Black Crowes are playing some of the best shows of their career. These guys have developed into stellar musicians, and now with the addition of guitar ace (and Rolling Stone magazine proclaimed "guitar god") Luther Dickinson, there's one more reason to check them out. GO SEE THE CROWES!

    Black Crows with Levon Helm

by FlashMinor on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Kick Ass Show! Great great show! Rocked the house. Levon was great just to see him walk on the stage and his rendition of Deep Elm Blues? Well what can I say. Stellar performance! The ushers at Fraze actually were pretty nice this time out. -Flash

    Black Crowes were so-so

by Cassielove on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Had been looking forward to this concert for a month and was excited to have a night out without kids. Opening act was good- got us nice and warmed up. The Crowes came on and started rocking out- but unfortunately I have no idea what they played. I was waiting for something that was familiar and never got my wish. I actually took a nap at one point. When Chris was singing- it was good even though I didn't know what song it was- but then they would do an instrumental for 20 minutes on at least 3 songs- it all blended together and not one song stood out. The only song I was waiting for was 'Talk with Angels' and was sadly disappointed for it was ever played....

Crowes Unknown hits - Dayton Ohio

by Jurasic on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

The crowd was into the first couple songs, then the band plays tunes that the majority of the audience didn't know. On top of that they took about 5 different 3-4 minute songs and stretch each of them into a 12 minute boring jam. I'm all for a good jam, but these went nowhere. Great vocals, good music, but poor song choices.

    THe American Stones

by Jonesin on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

THe Black Crowes are in my mind the band that the Rolling Stones always thought they were. Extermley competent and consumate professional musicians. The Fraze wasn't sold out but Chris and David Robinson et al just rocked the joint like they were playing a sold out stadium. My hats off they just powered through and brought the audiance along for the ride. I will see them again.

    Black Crowes Still Rock!

by SmileyM on 7/16/09Fraze Pavillion - Kettering

When I informed some friends I was attending the Black Crowes concert at the Fraze Pavillion in Ohio, they told me that was "so 90's." Well, it's 2009 and the Black Crowes still rock! I only discovered them fully about a year ago, and have appreciated their words, especially in "Talks to Angels." They played for over two hours and kept everyone engaged and on their feet! The only regret I have is not buying one of the dark red 2009 concert shirts which are not available on their website :( If you're wavering on attending one of their events...get a remedy and go!

For Die Hards Fans, not fans of the early music.

    by Fan85 on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

I became a fan of the Black Crowes as a result of their breakout album, "Shake Your Money Maker". The BC are playing their more recent music, and only played "Jealous Again" from the early album. So, five stars for being a fun summer night and some good tunes with friends. Totally disappointing for them not playing any of the tunes that put them on the map.

    Crowes sucked

by dawggystyle on 7/16/09Amphitheatre at Station Square - Pittsburgh

I'm a huge fan... but this show was horrible. They played maybe 2 hits in 2.5 hours... just miserable. Crowes have turned into a Phish jam band... that wasn't what I paid for... just awful. If I want to hear songs I don't know I'll go to a local pub for free.

Black Crowes was fantastic! Never a let-down!

by SisterStacey on 7/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

I thought the Friday June 19th show in Hampton Beach was superb and memorable. I wish they had done Friday & Saturday instead of Thursday and Friday so I could have gone to both shows like I ususally do in Hampton Beach. The band sounded great and the set list was very well rounded. I was really surprised and happy to hear them play "Blackberry", which i've never heard them play live in the last eighteen years or so that I have been faithfully going to every Crowes show I can possibly make it to! Love them! Keep up the great work! They are truly an inspiration!

    What were they thinking?

    by 1MusicFanatic on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

As musicians, the band was good but they only played one song I knew from the numerous ones that made them famous. I'll never pay to see them again.

This is what live music is!!!!!!

by Dino214 on 7/16/09Amphitheatre at Station Square - Pittsburgh

Have always enjoyed th Black Crowes. 3rd time seeing them & this was the best. Their song selection was excellent, They mixed in hits & older, less popular songs & amped them up. The addition of Luther Dickinson made it amazing. Seeing Rich & Luther trade solos was inspiring. Their reworking some of their more poular songs into 10-12 min. jams & nailing every part was musical genius.

Black Crowes good ... Levon Helm classic

by Zemo on 7/16/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Fans of the Black Crowes were extremely happy last night! The band was tight, with good arrangements, and they played for over two hours to a sold-out crowd. The sound was a little muddy on the high end, and they could've had a better balance -- the background vocals and keys were overpowered most of the time. Overall though, a solid performance featuring two great guitarists, a powerful lead singer, and a kickin' drummer.
