About

The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.

Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.

    Crowes come to Kingston

by Baxmab on 9/19/09UPAC - The Broadway Theater - Kingston

The show was great; there is not a bad seat at the venue. The Crowes played a mix of their newer songs with a few of the old favorites thrown in. The band was on and the performance was a very good one. I would definitely see them again when they come back to town.

The second phase of the Black Crowes

by FreeMule13 on 9/19/09UPAC - The Broadway Theater - Kingston

The new songs fit the Crowes...they aren't the same band they were twenty years ago or even five years ago...they're tight, you can tell they're happier and singing songs that fit them. The songs were smooth, flowed and were mostly from their excellent new cd... I've seen the Crowes 62 times now and while I wouldn't say this is the BEST show I've ever seen them do...it was quite an enjoyable show...I'd highly recommend seeing them on this tour...their energy is back, the new songs are very good, and the band is a band again with all the players fitting nicely together. Had a great time.

The Black Crowes-Best Rock Band Ever?

by CrowesCrazy on 9/14/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

I saw The Black Crowes in Buffalo in July of this year and was so blown away by their performance that I just had to see if they could do it again. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The weather wasn't great, the venue was intimate, but that didn't stop the Crowes from putting on another great outdoor show. You don't get any of the glitz and pyrotechnics of some shows, but the raw power and sound is incredible! Rich Robinson is a fantastic guitarist! The way Rich and Luther Dickinson blend their melodies and lead parts needs to be witnessed. There is no competition between these two awesome guitarists, but rather a oneness that shines through their playing together. Chris Robinson's passionate presentation of his lyrics sends shivers up my spine. Let me not forget Steve on drums, Sven on bass and Adam on keyboards. All integral parts of a well oiled machine. I bought Befor the Frost...Until the Freeze before this show so I could be familiar with what I suspected would be a show with alot of their new music. I must admit, I wasn't overly enthusiastic with the new stuff, but live it came to life. Great show!I can't wait until the next time I can spend an evening with The Black Crowes!

    The Crowes are perfect!

by ShadyGrover on 9/14/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

The Crowes are definitely having a great time! They all seem to be putting 110% into each song. They're singing and grooving and smiling.....wish I could see some more shows. Also their opening band Truth & Salvage Co. is great too! I have a feeling they will be huge in a couple of years.

    Not enough old songs

by whateva on 9/13/09Casino Rama - Orillia

The band's playing and virtuosity was impressive, but they featured mostly new songs that were not recognizable to the crowd. The finished off the finale with a couple of the bigger hits that generally satisfied the crowd. Also found it a bit short (1 hr 40 min).

    The crowes were great

by TheJarrod on 9/13/09Casino Rama - Orillia

A great show. The Crowes played mainly from the new album before the frost and until the freeze. Just enough jamming and didn't go overboard. Great tight sounding band, andthe boys looked like they were having fun. one hour and a half, on and off. Rama is a great sounding and viewing venue, but no beer in the show.

    Black Crowes rocks!!!

    by MARIA8 on 9/12/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

Besides the rain, it was amazing!!! We've watched them so close we almost could talk to them. In the end we said we were from Brazil, and a holdie of the band brought a suvenier from Chris Robinson!!! Memorable!!!

    Black Crowes rocked

    by Gravity11 on 9/12/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

Despite the rain throughout the first half of the show, the Black Crowes rocked! My friends and I have enjoyed listening to their albums for a long time--the Crowes were so much better live than I ever expected. The extent to which the funk/jazz/rock/blues fusion showed through the rain was like a multi-colored sun. There is no question why the Black Crowes have been a mainstay rock-band since the early 90's. Beyond the impressive music, the choice of the Saranac Brewery as the venue was brilliant. The combination of great beer for cheap and the lively Utica main streets that were studded with inviting bars for every type of person created an atmosphere that just whispered "rock & roll."

    As good as ever!

by NorthCrowe on 9/12/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

The Crowes put on a show that was as good as any I have seen in the past. Great energy with great variety in the set list. The new stuff sounds as if it was made to be played live. Some excellent good ole favorites played. Haven't had two hours fly by so fast in years.

    Dancing in the Rain!

    by SuperMurph5 on 9/12/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

The Black Crowes show last night at the Saranac Brewery was Amazing! When the show began the rain was dumping from the skies, however, after a few songs, it stopped. I really had a great time, great venue to see music! The Black Crowes played a lot of their new songs from their most recent album. Even though I didn't know any of the songs, they all rocked! Go see The Black Crowes if they ever are on tour close to you!

Black Crowes at The Saranac Brewery

by Dukemac on 9/12/09Saranac Brewery - Utica

When I heard they were comin' to Utica, I knew that it was one not to miss. The crowd was full of all kinds, but it was cool to see a bunch of white-haired baby-boomer stoner's rippin' up the brewery with Gen X'ers and the younger kids too. We were dead-center about two rows back from the stage with some rain to add to the atmosphere. I have not seen the Crowes since attending college in Georgia back in the late nineties, but they ripped a bunch of songs from their new album which added a lot of funk to the air. I love having this brewery in our town, what a great venue for a relevant band & free parking in Utica too.
