The Black Crowes = Best Rock 'n' Roll Show
by WyldStallynz on 9/3/09Central Park Summerstage - Central Park - New YorkThe Black Crowes continue to put on the best rock shows in the world. Last night's show was in supported of their new album "Before the Frost...Until the Freeze". The Album was released three days prior to the show. This show was a great mix of old and new songs. They played 9 New Songs from the Album. There is a great diversity of sounds on this album, and that was evident last night. From Country, to Blue Grass, to Rock, and even a disco feel with "I ain't Hiding". This one will remind you of Kiss "I was made for Lovin You". The best new song, and future long jam tune, was "Been a Long Time (Waiting On Love). This one starts out with a Born on the Bayou feel, and explodes into an all out jam. They also cranked out classics like Soul Singing, Good Friday, Wiser Time, She Gave Good Sunflower, Sister Luck, Sting Me, Remedy, and Thick 'n' Thin. The great thing about seeing the Crowes is that they change the setlist up every night (ala the Grateful Dead), and they keep everything fresh and energetic. They have so many songs in their vault to choose from. In addition, they continue to write and create great new songs. Larry Campbell, who is all over the album, sat in for a number of songs, as he was in Levon' Helms band, that opened. Chris and Rich sat in with Levon for "The Weight". I got their too late to see Truth and Salvage. I am seeing the show in Asbury Park on Saturday, and I would highly recommend this show to anyone.
