    Great Show!

    by MissNiss44 on 2/19/14Bruton Theatre - Dallas

The dance performances were awesome! It was a great way to acknowledge Black History through African Dance. My only issue was the show did not start the 8pm scheduled time, started at 8:40pm.

    Kim Coles Rocks!

by MizVicki on 2/10/14Clarence Muse Cafe Theater - Dallas

Actor Kim Coles' Oh But Wait...There's More provided my daughter and me with a perfect mother/daughter night out! Her ridiculously funny one woman show had just the right mix of hilarity and pathos as Kim Coles took us on a journey through her life as an actor in Hollywood. We loved how honest the dialogue was, no punches pulled, no sugar coating. Coles shared her deepest pain at being cast aside by Hollywood after her hit show Living Single ended, her bout with depression and her humiliation at being financially busted. The audience gave Kim Coles a standing ovation and I was the first to leap to my feet at the end of Oh Wait...There's More! I loved her in all her television roles but loved her more on stage in her one woman show because this was the "real" Kim Coles and she kept it real! If the show comes to you city, I'd make sure I reserve my tickets quickly!

    wholeplay was entertaining

by Thette on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - Dallas

The entire program was so well arranged and orchestrated not to mention the singing which was outstanding. The program flowed along very well in a timely manner. The children dancer were very good and it was refreshing to see so many young people exposed to such environment . Peabo Bryson was off the chain as the younger generation would say. Mistress of ceremony , Sharrie Williams pronunciation was clear, precise and she was easy to listen to. Very good choice for intellect and beauty. The music directors and the choir were super also. I recommend the event to all my friends for 2014 to attend.

Black Music and Civil Rights Concert delivered!

by Anonymous on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - Dallas

Stirring experience again this year. Sherri's oration, the magic in the music, and the kids, the kids, the kids! Add to this, the voice of Peabo Bryson and all the local talent; left the event with a rejuvenation and the exhilaration I expect each year. TBAAL does it again. Thank you, Again.

    TBAAL's 31st

by marfal on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - Dallas

After sitting this concert out for several years (not for lack of interest), it was wonderful to return and be reminded of the incredible jewel in the crown of the Dallas arts scene that is TBAAL. I know of no other city in the country that presents such a top-notch musical reminder of the past and present struggle for civil rights in this country in such an accessible manner. Particularly, this concert combined dancers, first-rate instrumentalists, conductors, and singers from the Dallas metroplex with the amazing voice of recording artist Peabo Bryson and students from Texas State University and Dallas ISD to give the audience a show that was both entertaining and uplifting. It was also quite educational, as TBAAL founder Curtis King's script shed light on many of the lesser-known or quoted words and thoughts of Martin Luther King, Jr. that speak so eloquently and powerfully to where we Americans (of all ethnicities) find ourselves today. This event is already on my calendar for 2015. Add it to yours.

This concert was amazing! Six jazz players each playing their own style one at a time and then they al came together at the end. For the price they had on these tickets it was the best deal in town. We had a little trouble finding Bruton Theatre, but it was worth it. Hoping they will do this again.
