  • Maysa was amazing!!!!

    by Jazzigurl0513 on 4/9/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth voice of Rashaan Patterson but was not all that impressed with his stage presence. In all fairness, I came to see Maysa!! Her voice was absolutely amazing!!! She rocked the house!!! I loved her performance and can't wait to see her again!

  • Date Night

    by Tricee35 on 4/9/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was just right for me and my husband date night it was so romantic RASHAAN & MAYSA brought it.

  • Both artist were excellent

    by DCB514 on 4/9/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Although the show started a bit behind schedule and the patrons were late arriving and distracting during Rashaan's set, the overall show was great.

  • RASHAAN PATTERSON & MAYSA were AMAZING!!!

by KayeBabe on 4/8/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed this event!!! This was my first time seeing both artist perform. I experienced natural raw talent!!!! No bells, whistles, costumes, stage props, or gimmicks. True vocalists and musicians. The atmosphere was very relaxed and laid back. The band started the show with an instrumental # and then Rashaan casually walked on stage grabbed the mike and just started singing... After a couple of tunes he acknowledged the audience told a couple jokes and went right back to work. There were 2 sista's singing background for him. Rashaan graciously gave them the opportunity to showcase their talent. Let me tell ya... those sista's can SANG!!! Their future is inevitable. I like that he saved my favorite songs for last. Stop Breaking My Heart and Feels Good. 5 stars***** Maysa was great... Although I wasn't familiar with her I found out that she's been featured on 10 LP's by Incognito. Real smooth jazzy sound. This sista sang "I Try" by Angie Bofil and brought the house downnnn!!! And for that she gets 5 stars*****

  • Maysa and Rashaan Patterson was Awesome!

by Blackgoddess on 4/8/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Both Rashaan and Maysa sounded like their CD's. The song selection by each artist did not disappoint from beginning to end. Their voices were crystal clear along with the background singers. If you missed them, make sure whenever they come back to DFW you secure a ticket. Best concert for the price by far in a long time... Thank you Mr. Curtis for bringing them both to the JBAAL.

  • More of Rashaan

by HLVSME on 4/8/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

I had a wonderful time at this concert. I only wish there was more time for Rashaan Patterson. I was very surprise to learn he was "opening" and not the featured, but they both were on stage around the same time. Very great ticket. Extremely excited to see the Dallas musicians on the stage represented the awesome talent we have. #TeamDallasMusician

  • A night to remember

    by 360Junkie on 4/8/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I found out about his event a few hours before show time. Not only was I able to purchase tickets but I also sat in the first seat of my section in the front row. Things couldn't get any better than that. Rahsaan and his background singers were phenomenal. I was more than elated to not only meet him but to take a selfie as well. He was a doll! I'd never heard of Maysa until this nite. She is wonderful singer who created a more intimate atmosphere with her soothing jazzy tone. Maysa is now on repeat in my car. She has gained a new fan, me. I really enjoyed myself. Glad I was able to have the experience.

  • Good concert...

by Eleasia on 4/8/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Both acts were very good! (Rashaan was a little TOO laid back in his performance for my taste! But oh, well...) Worth the price, parking, etc...

Great performances by both artists. It was my first time seeing Maysa live and I definitely would see her again.

Debbi Morgan in her one woman show "The Monkey on My Back" was amazingly brilliant, well worth it, would see it time and time again. Excellent work!

It was a good show. Watching Debbie Morgan for all these years with those beautiful "holes in her cheeks", I never imagined that she came from a place of so much pain. So happy for the joy she has now.

  • Great Show!

    by MissNiss44 on 2/19/14Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

The dance performances were awesome! It was a great way to acknowledge Black History through African Dance. My only issue was the show did not start the 8pm scheduled time, started at 8:40pm.

  • Kim Coles was Inspiring!

  • Kim Coles Rocks!

by MizVicki on 2/10/14Clarence Muse Cafe Theater - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Actor Kim Coles' Oh But Wait...There's More provided my daughter and me with a perfect mother/daughter night out! Her ridiculously funny one woman show had just the right mix of hilarity and pathos as Kim Coles took us on a journey through her life as an actor in Hollywood. We loved how honest the dialogue was, no punches pulled, no sugar coating. Coles shared her deepest pain at being cast aside by Hollywood after her hit show Living Single ended, her bout with depression and her humiliation at being financially busted. The audience gave Kim Coles a standing ovation and I was the first to leap to my feet at the end of Oh Wait...There's More! I loved her in all her television roles but loved her more on stage in her one woman show because this was the "real" Kim Coles and she kept it real! If the show comes to you city, I'd make sure I reserve my tickets quickly!

  • wholeplay was entertaining

by Thette on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The entire program was so well arranged and orchestrated not to mention the singing which was outstanding. The program flowed along very well in a timely manner. The children dancer were very good and it was refreshing to see so many young people exposed to such environment . Peabo Bryson was off the chain as the younger generation would say. Mistress of ceremony , Sharrie Williams pronunciation was clear, precise and she was easy to listen to. Very good choice for intellect and beauty. The music directors and the choir were super also. I recommend the event to all my friends for 2014 to attend.

  • Black Music and Civil Rights Concert delivered!

by Anonymous on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Stirring experience again this year. Sherri's oration, the magic in the music, and the kids, the kids, the kids! Add to this, the voice of Peabo Bryson and all the local talent; left the event with a rejuvenation and the exhilaration I expect each year. TBAAL does it again. Thank you, Again.
