  • Excellent and Amazing

    by VMH2 on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This is so enjoyable to see every year!!! Mr. Curtis King is innovative in creating such remarkable presentation of Black History. The music and dance is awesome. This show should be up there with the Stellar Awards.

  • TBAAL's 31st

by marfal on 1/22/14Morton Meyerson - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

After sitting this concert out for several years (not for lack of interest), it was wonderful to return and be reminded of the incredible jewel in the crown of the Dallas arts scene that is TBAAL. I know of no other city in the country that presents such a top-notch musical reminder of the past and present struggle for civil rights in this country in such an accessible manner. Particularly, this concert combined dancers, first-rate instrumentalists, conductors, and singers from the Dallas metroplex with the amazing voice of recording artist Peabo Bryson and students from Texas State University and Dallas ISD to give the audience a show that was both entertaining and uplifting. It was also quite educational, as TBAAL founder Curtis King's script shed light on many of the lesser-known or quoted words and thoughts of Martin Luther King, Jr. that speak so eloquently and powerfully to where we Americans (of all ethnicities) find ourselves today. This event is already on my calendar for 2015. Add it to yours.

  • by Transfixed on 3/26/12Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was amazing! Six jazz players each playing their own style one at a time and then they al came together at the end. For the price they had on these tickets it was the best deal in town. We had a little trouble finding Bruton Theatre, but it was worth it. Hoping they will do this again.

The show was very good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The parking was horrible because of several events happening at the same time.

  • Bravo, 7 Jazz Divas !

    by ReeRee3806 on 2/6/12Bruton Theatre - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

What an awesome display of amazingly gifted jazz artists ! Jazz in Pink was an elegant & capable ensemble. Gail Jhonson has gained a new fan in me, Althea Rene was a BEAST on that flute & a great entertainer as well, Karen Briggs was a force to be reckoned with, & Maysa turned the place OUT !! This was truly a great show ! Thank you, TBAAL !
