THE B-52S IN CONCERT:

Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

  • Missed 1st Act - Extremely Long Lines to Get In

by FreeSpirit on 10/8/25Northwell at Jones Beach Theater - WantaghRating: 4 out of 5

I thought getting on line at 6:30 was plenty of time to get through security and see the 1st act which started at 7pm. Boy, was I wrong!! It took 45 minutes to get through and by the time we got to our seats, Lene Lovich had finished. I was so upset I missed her. I learned an important lesson… it takes an hour or more to get to your seat at this venue!! Loved the rest of the concert. It’s so great to see the founding members of Devo & the B-52s sounding just like they did in their heyday!!

  • A great triple bill

by Dermot2927 on 10/8/25Northwell at Jones Beach Theater - WantaghRating: 4 out of 5

Lene Lovich opened with a short but energetic set. I only know a couple of her songs, but was impressed with her and her band, especially the drummer, from start to finish. I was surprised then that the B-52s were next on – I had assumed they were headlining. They were much better than I expected. I had seen them a few years ago and they were lacklustre and listless – definitely ready for retirement. However, the song selection (apart from the opening. Cosmic Thing which is a little tuneless and served only as a warmup) was excellent and they performed wonderfully, despite the advancing years. Cindy in particular seemed to be straining but managed to make all the notes. Kate was a ball of fire and in wonderful vocal form. Fred was his usual sardonic self, though he had to take a break for a couple of songs. Judging by the exodus after their set, I wasn’t the only one who thought they were the headliners. Which was a shame, because Devo were great. Musically tight and visually entertaining, they played all the hits, and a couple I didn’t recognise. There was yet another rush for the exits after Whip It - at least they had the decency to wait for that one - but I suppose people had to get up for work on Monday morning. A great show, well choreographed and another band in better shape than when I saw them a few years ago. Hopefully this won’t be the last go round for any of these acts. I’d love to see all of them again.

  • The Loveshack

by Styxrider on 10/8/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 4 out of 5

The loveshack is where love ❤️ lives. Love ❤️ is all you need. And Devo who opened it up whipped it good. What else do you want?

  • B-52’s are amazing

by Liz A on 10/8/25Northwell at Jones Beach Theater - WantaghRating: 5 out of 5

B-52’s never ever disappoint. I have seen them so many times. I really wish that they would play with squeeze. It would be a totally awesome experience. I am so glad and very surprised that Devo was the last act. I guess it was good so we were able to leave earlier than intended. Lena Lovich was a great opening act. I didn’t realize I knew so many songs that she did. Once the B-52s came on, you couldn’t stay in your seat. I can’t believe this show was not sold out.

  • Perfectly performing all the hits we know & love!

by MCMartin on 10/8/25Northwell at Jones Beach Theater - WantaghRating: 5 out of 5

The B52's were on their game, and performed their songs perfectly. By this I mean, they sang with the authentic inflections and words. Many bands who have been performing for years, or who are getting up in age, tend to sing their hits a bit differently. We sang along to the B52's and they performed their songs exactly as they were recorded. Sing along is great when you have that. They were entertaining, energetic and gave it their all. Kate reached out to the audience throughout and made that connection. THEY WERE AWESOME!

  • Mostly great concert

by Debmutant on 10/8/25Northwell at Jones Beach Theater - WantaghRating: 4 out of 5

Lene Lovich was AMAZING!! I forgot how much I loved her music! The B-52s ROCKED THE HOUSE DOWN!! Soooooo many of my favorite songs that I’ve never heard them perform live!! The two disappointments were the food selections and the quality of the food was sub par. And while It was great seeing Devo, I missed them singing more of their hits. There were too many deep cuts that sounded repetitive. In the middle of the set, the sound amped up to a painful level. I was wishing I had earplugs and people were leaving the venue in droves. Every other row where I was sitting, left in the middle of their set. I stayed til the end, but jumped to leave as soon as the music stopped. Unlike the B52s where myself and everyone else stood clapping for an encore! Still loved the show!

  • Exceded Expectation!

I cannot believe how great The B-52s and DEVO sounded. Super entertaining show from start to finish!

  • Best Party Band Ever

by John K on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 5 out of 5

When they announced their retirement a few years ago I thought my days of seeing a B-52s concert were over. Very fortunate that not only did they decide to do a mini tour with Devo, but that they would be doing a show at the PNC Bank Arts Center. Devo was terrific. Then the B-52s took the stage and had the entire Arena enthralled with classic B-52s songs including all their biggest hits (Roam. love Shack, Rock Lobster). The vocal trio of Fred, Cindy and Kate are still strong after all these years together. If this was the final time I get to see them perform I have a happy memory, just as good as Central Park in 1980.

by Stormy on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 5 out of 5

The B52s were great! However I missed Lena Lovich because it took an hour and a half to get into the PNC Arts Center. NEVER going there again.

  • Awesome

  • Super fun

by ConcertGuy462 on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome show from the start with DJ Cumberbund warming the crowd up to the adventure of De-Evolution Devo takes you on. The B52's are straight cosmic party fun. I highly recommend this tour if you can see it.

  • Great concert with Devo & B 52's

    by Carmen L & Jennifer J on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 5 out of 5

PNC Arts Center is out favorite venue to see concerts. We had seen 3 prior concerts this year including Rod Stewart, Richard Marx, Christopher Cross, Men At Work, Toto, Goo Goo Dolls, Dashboard Confessional, Devo & B 52's. I really like preferred parking for easy access, Tailgating & quick entry to the venue. I also like that the of the concert vue has easy exist to the highway. I would highly recommend for great seating, being organized, great sound & visual for all audiences.

  • Poor sound!!!

by MartyLR on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 3 out of 5

To start off - I’m a big Lene Lovich fan and it was disappointing that she played for such a short time. She was great. DEVO was high energy and fun - good performance. B-52’s were okay - have seen them perform better. It seemed that Cindy Wilson was struggling to sing. This could have been the sound - virtually all of the vocals were muffled for all 3 acts.

  • The show was lovely.

by Tried to go south after the show on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 4 out of 5

Lovely show but parking was nuts. Half of the lots were closed and I couldn't get on parkway south. I had to go north then get off find my way to parkway south. Parking lot 8 has an entrance directly to parkway south. Getting home shouldn't have been that complicated.

  • Great bands & show, lousy audience

by Waver on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 4 out of 5

First time seeing Devo & we thought they were great. Loved the band, the music, & the videos. Pretty much the same for the B'52's who we've seen a few times. Their backing band was top notch & the voices of Cindy & Kate were still amazing. Sitting in the 300 Section was a real downer with all the geriatric 50–80-year-olds who looked like they never get off the couch at their age. They sat on like senior citizens for both bands which made the experience somewhat depressing. I suppose it's better to pay more money & sit in the 100 Section where people are on their feet enjoying the music & dancing when it comes to seeing these bands that have been around a long time!

  • We’re all getting older

by Andy C on 10/7/25PNC Bank Arts Center - HolmdelRating: 3 out of 5

Show was great but boy are we getting older. Enjoyed dancing to the old favorites.
