About

THE B-52S IN CONCERT:

Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

  • DEVO/B-52's

    by Dr. H on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Lena Lovitch, DEVO, and The B-52's put on a great show. I would go again in a heartbeat. The biggest issue at the Hollywood Bowl revolves around the distant stage. Viewing is assisted with the giant monitors to make the performers larger. However, the ticket cost then seems absurd to watch a monitor rather see the performer firsthand. Sound was appreciated as a live perf6. I prefer if the performers would leave politics (specifically, the no kings support) out of the event. Highly recommend seeing them.

  • Just play music

by Krockett on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

The bowl is always nice. That is. Outside of traffic.. the concert was OK. I think Devo out played the B52's which kind of surprised me. The B52's started off slow and with playing for only 60 minutes. It may of not been a good idea. They played on the day of the No Kings protest. When the useful idiots come out in full force. And unfortunately both bands had to get political with their emotionally based beliefs. That was sad to see. Just play music and sit quietly if you have TDS.

  • Amazing

by Forr on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

If you miss seeing them I'm sorry they are amazing

  • Awesome

by Deb on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show!! Loved every minute- high energy and fun

  • DEVO GREAT!! B52's not so great

by Michael Collins on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 1 out of 5

DEVO was amazing!!! Great show! Great songs!! B52's really sucked They should have already retired. Already. Kate Pearson looked and sounded like Kate the Clown!!!

  • Weak

by Bret on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

Cindy's voice is shot, Fred is barely audible. Backup singers were good though.

  • Disappointed in B52’s

by Hollywood Bowl fan on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

The B52’s seemed like they couldn’t wait to get off the stage and practically ran out when they finished. They also didn’t play many of their songs. Maybe this is a sign we should skip older groups concerts

  • Short Shrift for Lene!

by Choppy on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

While I’m a fan of all three bands, the main reason I came was to see Lene Lovich, whom I hadn’t seen in more than 40 years. I was shocked and dismayed that her set was less than 25 minutes. She was a major artist of her era who tours only rarely, and she deserved better treatment. I thought Devo‘s show was fantastic, but our group had mixed emotions about the B-52’s, I thought their Anaheim show a couple of years ago was better.

  • Not worth my time

by Desertmoon on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

I saw the Hollywood Bowl show. Devo was great; fun, energetic, looking like they were having a good time performing! They interacted with the crowd and were genuinely engaged. They should have been the last act. B-52s looked like they were just going through the motions. They didn’t even come out for an encore- when they were done, they were done. They also played a very short set. Very disappointed.

  • Still got it after all these years!

by LBurt on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

You hear about legends that can't sing or put on a lame show... not these guys! They sound as good as they did on their first album. Worth the $!

  • Awesomeness!

by RagKing on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The entire evening was magical from start to finish, love the Hollywood Bowl experience as it is like no other place!

  • The B-52s and Devo put on an amazing show!

by Mookfly on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands still sound the same as they did when they recorded their great songs and they still know how to throw a party!

  • Yet another great show by b52s

by Rj on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Avoid all the traffic and expensive parking, take the shuttle, very convenient all around!

  • Great show.

by Rickster on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

First time sitting up front. What a view of the show. Didn't have to watch the Jumbotron. Going to miss them. Thanks for the memories. First time I saw the B52s was at the US festival in 1982. Hope for more shows in the future.

  • A lot of hype

by Mickey on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

B-52's sounded great but should of played longer. Get rid of the DJ and Lena Lovitch at the beginning. Total waste of time. The B-52's left out a lot of great songs. Sort of a let down.

  • Age matters ….

by Love them but age matters on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

We have seen them a lot over the years. And while they can still deliver the music, their ages are showing. Fred disappeared for a couple of songs when he has prominent parts. We didn’t eat to hear, “Love Shack Baby” among other things. He coughed a couple of times at the start of the show so he might have a cold. But still …. Their ages also showed in their movements. They used to dance this mess around yet singing that song they didn’t dance much. While I still think they are a must see if you have never seen them before, just a heads up. I am not as young as I was when I first saw them as well as I am not in as good of shape as I was. So it is just time catching up with us all.

  • Very disappointed indeed...

by Traci on 10/21/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

We were extremely disappointed with our tickets... when we bought them we had no idea we were getting an obstructed view until after we purchased them. We also had friends who bought tickets for Sunday rather than Saturday and bought them a couple days before the concert, unlike us who bought them several months ago, and they paid less money for better seats. What a complete disappointment

  • Loved them then; Love them now!

by Blast to the Past! on 10/20/25Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain ViewRating: 5 out of 5

We had a great time seeing and hearing this band that was the soundtrack of our youth! But why, oh why, did they not play “Lava,” which was one of their first, and biggest hits? Other than that slip up, it was ROCKIN!

  • Trip Back to 1978

    by Townie65 on 10/20/25Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain ViewRating: 5 out of 5

Love the B52’s. God lovem! Bought the Yellow Shirt and rocked to the unstoppable and unmatched sound of the B52s.

  • Great performance. Poor sound.

by Ar on 10/19/25Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain ViewRating: 5 out of 5

The B-52's doing the thing! Hosting a great party. I am thrilled to have seen them again and look forward to next time. The sound board, on the other hand, left much to be desired. Important trademark sounds buried in the mix (guitar, synth/organ, Freds mischief) and seemed like time alignment issues?
