About

THE B-52S IN CONCERT:

Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

  • Great show!

by Russ on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands were great. B-52s have definitely slowed down, but still sound great. DEVO was super high energy and had a great set. Lene Lovich sounded strong and still seems as weird as ever, in a good way.

  • PNC B52's concert

by CC on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

I was expecting that only Devo and B52's were playing at the venue. No announcement there was going to be another performer and we presumed that since B52's were headliner but came out as the second act Devo was not performing, What a disappointment to know we left missing them.

  • Been a Minute

    by Cablecomic13 on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Been a minute since I saw a show that wasn't overdone. The venue was on point except for the airline restroom dookie booths (tight quarters). All acts were exceptional. No issues with over served concertgoers either. I will score it a 13 out of 10!

  • B52s did the best they could

by Don H2OSurfer on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

Devo was the best show of the evening. B52s did their best, but much of their former cachet came from the women, who, as we all do, aged out of their former charisma.

  • They NEVER disappoint

by Sqwirl on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This was our 4th time seeing the B52s and second seeing DEVO. They were both FANTASTIC. We have seen the B52s 3 times in the last 3 years and they are better each and every time.

  • What an incredible show!

by Pure New Wave heaven! on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The B-52s turned the night into an unforgettable party, getting the entire crowd dancing to every funky, iconic groove. For New Wave fans, this show is an absolute must-see. It was a euphoric, cosmic celebration that proved these bands still know how to bring the house down!

  • Good Show

by Chris K on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Devo and The B 52's were a good show - I know them from old school - they both have a lot of new music - a little punky for my taste - but they put on a great show and lots of fans that knew the music

  • Excellent Show!

by Poke on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The B-52's and Devo must do another tour next year. We're not ready for either to retire. Lene Lovich as opener was excellent as well. Keep it going!

  • Missing the Lawnies!

by TRad on 10/27/25PNC Music Pavilion - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

Loved the show. B-52s had great energy and put on a good show. We don't know many Devo songs, but they sounded great and were good to move your groove thing to! We really miss the crowd on the lawn. I'm sure that the artists would like to see a full lawn crowd and the venue could make a ton more money. Please bring back the lawn passes for next year!!

Fun show, they put on a great performance (I'd never seen them before). The bass player and drummer were utterly PHENOMENAL!!!! I'd never seen Devo before either and it was a perfect fun with performance combo!

  • A good night of retro music goodness!

by Liv on 10/24/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Devo was super energetic. Their visuals were fantastic and their sound was perfect! The B-52s also had great visuals, but at times the sound wasn't good for every song.

  • Devo and The B-52's Rocked

by Los Angeles Libby on 10/23/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I had another date night at the bowl. Devo and the B-52's did not disappoint us. They sounded great and we had a blast. Not one person was standing when the B-52's performed Love Shack! It was a lovely evening and we had a blast.

  • Fabulous B52's

by BrownEyedGirl on 10/23/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

I was not dissappointed in any part of the concert. LOVED the music, stage presence, and memories their music brought back. Just so much FUN

  • What a venue

by Jamietx on 10/23/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Great gig but what a venue. First time to HB, wow what a place. B52's where good, played all the old faves, great night

  • I thought the B-52’s were the headliner

    by Kim F on 10/22/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

I knew the concert was going to feature the B-52s and Devo, but I didn’t know Devo was headlining. The ad I received promoting the concert indicated the B-52’s were headlining, so I expected them to close the show and hear more than a dozen songs from them. They were great though. I’m not really a Devo fan, but their fans seemed to love the show.

  • So much fun

by LisaB on 10/22/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The Hollywood Bowl is an excellent venue! The B-52’s were fun and energetic! I liked the images on the rear and side screens - video shots, psychedelic patterns and up close views of the band. Loved it!

  • Awesome concert!!!

    by Lena & the B 52’s on 10/22/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Lena , B52’s and Devo too! Such a fun concert! They all still got it!!

  • Devo Yeah! B52's Nah!

by Realist Idealist on 10/22/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I went to the Cosmic De-Evolution Tour on October 19, 2025 at the Hollywood Bowl. This was our first time seeing them. The B52's played first. We were expecting to dance our assess off since their music is so much fun. Unfortunately, the B52's were subdued. Their set list was good but they sangs their great songs without any enthusiasm. They mostly stood there and sang. I figured maybe it was their age but then DEVO dispelled this. They are older but played a kick ass show. You could tell they were into it. The members were jumping, crawling or dancing throughout their performance. Their set list was great. We were pleasantly surprised how hard they rocked when they played Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA.
