THE B-52S IN CONCERT:

Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

  • B-52s KILLED!

by mattius on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

Cindy looked GORGEOUS and did this HOT rendition of "Give Me Back My Man". Kate was so full of bubbly bounce, she really sent the audience over the moon, not to mention, her vocal range and sound were RIDICULOUS AWESOME! Fred? Forget about it... SO funny, SO spot on, a true circus ringleader! Keith and that guitar, classic B-52s, just an all around amazing and dynamic experience.

  • B-52s - just like old times

by Musico01 on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

B-52s took the stage around 8:00 (doors opened at 7:30 plus there was an opening act - pretty efficient to get all that in in a half hour.). We arrived at 8:10 and took our seats during the B-52s 3rd song. My only complaint is the venue operations. At about 4 songs before the end of the show, it was time to take "a break". When we returned to our seats (Sec 3), a wall of security guards and venue staff blocked access to our section and said we had to go around. On the way out to "go around" another staff told us we would never make it back to our seats before the end of the show since there were now only 3 songs remaining. Not an impossible situation but it soured our experience. We had no place to go to enjoy the rest of the show except stand in the aisle.

by aprilisa on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

OMG, i will always see the B-52s when they come to town. I love listening to them on the radio, but live and in person is off the charts. I totally rocked out man, and i'm a head banger. i love the B-52s forever. i even purchased a T-shirt, hook, line and sinker. "HOT LAVA BABY"......

  • THE B-52'S ARE ALOT OF FUN!

by CRPJR22 on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

The Sunday night concert was a lot of fun. The Pacific Amptheater has a time and noise limit restriction, but it didn't matter on this night. The band, comprised of four of it's original members belted out the hits from the 80's and a couple of new ones off it's FUNPLEX compact disc. I would recommend it to anyone that just wants to have a good time remembering the songs from the past.

  • b-52's rocked

by socal714 on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

this concert was a birthday gift fo my fiance who is in fact a huge fan. and i must say, theywere awesome they put on an excellent show. i was never a big fan but if i were to have seen them before in concert, i for sure would want to see them again. i have been to alot of concerts some bands that were favorites of mine and walked away upset. i found myself walking away fromthis show pleasantly surprised. i can honestly see why they are my fiance's favorite band, they were alot of fun. and the atmosphere was very energetic. i would recomend this show, even if you are not a huge fan you will have a great time.

  • B-52's had some problems

by DJM54 on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

I've seen the B-52's at least 20 times over the last 30 years and they usually deliver exactly what I've come to expect...nostaglia, dance tunes, and a LOT of fun. This year they seem to have lost something. Maybe it was the technical troubles with the equipment or the sound mixing (that was horrible). Maybe it was Cindy losing her voice during certain songs. Maybe it was the almost complete lack of energy from the OC crowd and too many really OLD people (I mean 60-70's) who sat in their seats during almost all of the concert. Maybe it was Fred's over-rehearsed lines and forgetting what day it was. This was probably my last year for the 52's, unfortunately. It just wasn't the same and they charged more this year than the last couple at the OC fair.

  • B-52s Still have it

by niguelguy7 on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show full of energy. The sounded better than they did 30 years ago. Fun time had by all.

  • B-52's STILL rock

by Rabbit99 on 7/20/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I have seen the B-52's and I must say... They STILL know how to rock. They are still showing everyone a Great time and have not lost anything over the years. I would recommend this group to anyone. Great time.

  • Channel Z Live and On The Air

    by NWolfe1 on 7/19/09Caesars Palace - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Like many who have grown up with the fun of the B-52's, it was a blast to be able to see them live- especially since I have a long term "crush" on Cindy Wilson- Hubba Hubba! The group does their best in smaller venues and this was no exception. If there were to be any downsides they would be that as always, as fans, we want more and I guess an hour just ain't gonna do it. Also, the venue itself- Pure. With all of the pillars in the way, my better half and I in effect really got to only listen as we were not able to see the band all that well and in most instances not at all- thanks to the club's crew and fire regulations. Knowing what type of group the B-52's are, I would have thought that the club would have been left wide open but alas and alack-no dice. Nevertheless, we had a great time and it proves that good things come to those who wait!

  • Rock Lobster, baby!

    by Tessie736 on 7/19/09Caesars Palace - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Great intimate venue. B52s still rock in their own special way

  • B-52's

by edirp on 7/19/09Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Despite the muddy mess, the B-52's put on a good show. However, the venue (Oregon Zoo) is severely lacking in concession options. Lines were much too long!

  • B-52's Rocked Vegas

by BASNV on 7/19/09Caesars Palace - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show. Very intimate setting and the fans crowded around the stage. As usual, they sounds amazining and had very high energy. Great show, only wish they had played longer (they only played for an hour).

  • B 52's need to update

by Rubytrue on 7/18/09Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del MarRating: 2 out of 5

It is always fun to remember good times with vintage hits, but, this show was a reminder that we all get old. They need to update their material and stop acting like they are still 20 and slim.
