THE B-52S IN CONCERT:
Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

Great show, great venue, great tunes. This band still puts on a great and fun show!!!
BAND WAS AMAZING VENUE LACKED..SEATS CRAMPED..SERVICE WAS GOOD FOR DINNER..FOOD WAS JUST AVERAGE
I sat front row and the B-52's rocked the house. They mostly played their classics and the crowd loved it. A must see band every year!
Through my life I had the chance to dance life to several groups, but never as fun as the B-52's, they will live forever, nothing but fun music and good rhythm, they are great and cool
Of course the B-52's are always entertaining! It weas a great concert and the venue was delightful and comfortable. First time at this venue and would do it again!
My girlfriend's 24 year old son was impressed that I had tickets to the B-52s . "They're cool " he said. "Yeah," I said " still cool ". Those articulate expressions gave me an excuse to muse about what gives artists my age the staying power to be relevant after 30 years. As a visual artist myself, I aspire to the artistic success of such people. They have much the same energy and atitude that impressed me those many years ago but I could instantly relate to the "eyes of age" and even more the relevance of a conceptual art that has been around since Marcel DuChamp and Man Ray and will continue to inspire artist for centuries to come. To me they are comrades-in arms for life, the musicianship is better than ever, Fred is as funny as ever and those girls are still HOT!! They inspire me and make me feel young and alive. Still cool!
I have seen the B-52's twice now and both times they were rockin! They are very entertaining and know how to appeal to the audience. They completely engage and involve the audience in their program and their music makes everyone want to dance. They put on a great show and I would see them a third time.
I am a devoted B-52s fan, so this review may be a bit biased. However - I have never seen the B-52s in the rain. The fans in Portland, OR did not let a little rain dampen their spirits (pun intended) for the show. The zoo was packed and the Bs put on an incredible show, melding new songs from their latest album Funplex with their classics. They pulled some classic tunes from just about every album - Mesopotamia, Give Me Back My Man, Private Idaho, Roam, Quiche Lorraine, Strobe Light and of course, we all got down in the mud to ROCK LOBSTER. The B-52s put on one of the best live shows I have seen. And, they continue to rock - 30 years and counting. I am hoping for another album and more tours. Thanks Fred, Keith, Cindy and Kate! You guys are wonderful.
After all this time they still crank out an amazing show. A must see for sure.
The B-52's are a great live band. Lots of positive energy. The Del Mar Fairgrounds is a nice, small venue, easy to get close to the bands.
what a great time ... people around me were just the best, dancing, singing & just having a great time
I'm in my late 50's and I took my teenage son. We both had a great time. While a bit repetitive, the B-52's were energetic and colorful; like Talking Heads gone pop. We both said we'd go again, and that's really the acid-test, isn't it?
Absolutely loved this show. It was great to see this band up close and personal. My only problem with the evening was the venue. I do not recommend dinner at the Canyon Club in Agoura. The prime rib was awful and for the price, not worth it. Skip the expensive dinner and just go later for the show and deal with the standing room only crowd.
The B-52's have still got it goin' on! They looked fabulous and sounded even better. It poured rain for 2 hours before the show, (outside on the lawn at the zoo) but it stopped right at show time and once the music began, we all forgot how wet we were because we were too busy dancing around. I will see them over and over and over. The best show I've been to in a very long time!
Classic B-52's show! They are the best party band ever!
Very impressed. They sounded excellent and were fun to watch. They really engaged the audience- everyone was dancing and rocking out.
Even the rain stopped for this one. I saw many people who chose to ditch the show and boy did they blow it. Rain stopped about 20 minutes before the show and didn't start again until it was over. Even God loves the B-52's.
Sounded great, lots of energy, played the old stuff we wanted to hear. Fun venue, although the crowd was a bunch of lame Portland yuppies and self-important oldsters.
First Zoo Concert ever. Horrible weather. Learned a great deal for the next time. The warm-up band and The B-52's were terrific. There were no surprizes, they just gave their old fans what they wanted, and newB's an idea of how fun they and their music are.
It was pouring down rain at the zoo the night of the concert. This did not dampen the spirit of the fans. We had a great time. Music was great!
