THE B-52S IN CONCERT:
Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

The show was a bit short, but well worth it! They still got it !!!
they played for 70 minutes. they stopped @930pm. my seat was too small, other people complained also. I dont think it was worth the 2 x $19.50+ 5.50+2.50 ticket conv. fees+ 5 dollar parking. I wont go again to see them, although they were great- Cindy Wilson's voice is amazing!
Event was crowded and though we had decent seats everybody was standing and it was tough to even see the moniters. The B-52s sounded very good, but, only played for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. I expected at least another half hour of them. Felt "ripped off".
I have seen the band several times and they always deliver. Unfortunately they left us wanting more with what seemed to be a short set. Granted they played all the hits, just wanted to hear more. The party was just starting to get out-of-bouinds!
Loved the concert, the sound was awesone and the B' were in excellent form. They didnt dance around like they used to in their yournger days. The Finale was the best, Planet Claire and Rock Lobster. This concert was OUT OF BOUNDS and BOUNCING OFF THE SATELLITES.
The band was great, but the venue was very small and extremely crowded. Pretty healthy price tag for a 1-hour show. The crowd was just getting warmed up and it was over.
Considering how long the B-52s have been around, the set could have been a little longer. Only an hour and 15 minutes. This included their oncore. Hey, but we were on our feet all night dancing.
What a fun concert. They had great energy and everyones voices were great. All of their best hits were played and were done with perfection. Good times!!!
Let me preface this by saying I saw the B-52's at The Roxy last year and they were incredible! So we decided we wanted to see them again. What a mistake! The energy from the previous show just wasn't there! The show only lasted 1-1/2 hours.Too short for the amount of money we paid for a festival seating venue. The Canyon Club oversold the amount of tickets. There was no where to stand that we weren't constantly being harassed by the Gestapo bouncers, who would push you when they wanted you to move forward which was about every 5 minutes. My recommendation is don't bother with either the B-52's or the Canyon Club!
B-52s were fantastic! Wonderful music; the audience danced nonstop!
Yes, it was a fair venue, and yes, the tickets were inexpensive, but The B-52's still rock harder than most bands half their age. Punctuating their set with three songs from their new Funplex album, the B-52's rocked the stage with a solid mix of hits from their three decades of southern-inspired party music. Go see them. Go see them now!
Went with my husband who watched them as a fledgling band at local bars while going to the University of GA in Athens. They were great last night, and kept the crowd on their feet with their quirky brand of rock/pop and humor! An excellent show!!
First time seeing the B-52's, my husband is a HUGE fan and the tickets where for his birthday... We had a blast!! The Pacific Ampitheatre is the PERFECT venue, small and intimate, outside and great sound. The B-52's rocked and its obvious they haven't lost anything with all of their years of popularity! Loved that the tickets were totally affordable too... I am definetly signing up for the fan club so I can catch them again in So. Cal. Totally recommend them- to fans and non-fans alike!
Good show. Lots of energy. We were in the PIT, row CCC. The sound there was TERRIBLE. Couldn't hear the vocals at all. Good thing I knew the words to most songs. Someone needs to do a sound check before the show!
It's awesome to see this group still together and sounding just as amazing today as when I first saw them in a small club in San Francisco in the early 80's!
As a musician myself, I was annoyed at the sound production, but the overall show was excellent. Minor things that needed to be taken care of were things like missed cues on the mic for Fred, not turning on keyboards for Kate, and not turning on bongo mics for Cindy (which was strange since they worked early in the concert, but didn't work later in the concert). They were minor annoyances, but the band did not let them detract from the energy they displayed, and my guess is that the vast majority of the crowd didn't notice or care.
The concert was fantastic! They mixed their vintage with their current songs so I never had to wait long for one of my favorites. I hope when I am in my late 50s and early 60s I have the energy and stamina they do. They look great!
Always been a fan since the early 80's but never made it to see them. WOW, the girls sound just as good as they always have. We loved it !!!!!
What can I say? They rocked the Pacific Amphitheatre! It was so much fun. Everyone danced to every song! I'd see them again.
Even though the band was all together again, it was a disappointing concert. They seemed to be just going through the motions singing and dancing. There was no enthusiam although the audience was on their feet the entire time. The highlight of the show was "Rock Lobster" which was an encore song. When it was over it was over much too soon.
