THE B-52S IN CONCERT:
Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

They rock so hard, and entertain the audience with their crazy sounds, rockin' beat and love the new Funplex music. I've loved this group since the 80's. The are on my ipod and I work out to the Funplex music every day. Not a song I don't like. Lovin' it, lovin' it! I highly recommend seeing them any time you can. Well worth the show and entertainment!
Awsome show! They haven't changed in 25 years! Amazing show
They had their game on at this concert, in spite of the rain and cold weather. The music was high energy and uplifting/fun, as always, and the entire band was very tight and obviously having a lot of fun performing! This is the third time I've seen the B-52's live, and this was by far there best show. The venue was also fun, even though the entire audience was soaked from the downpour of rain. It was great being able to buy wine at the cafe and the wine selections were very good for this type of an event.
An amazing show. Worth every penny of the ticket price and then some. The B-52s are as great as ever. The music was fantastic and all four of them are sooo full of fun. They had the crowd on their feet the moment they hit the stage! Can't wait to see them in concert again.
Enjoyed the music and being able to relieve my youth. The songs brought back the days I went clubing to the under ground scenes when others would question "Who, what, the B-52's" but once they went main stream they all of a sudden like them. I loved I was able to get my groove on.
Good set most songs were very true the the original recordings except the two encore songs - Planet Claire and Rock Lobster. Don't know what they did during the 10 minutes they were off stage before the encore, but whatever it was, I wish they hadn't.....
They are getting older and less mobile but still have great energy. They didn't play as many songs off the first two albums as I would have liked. Sound was decent. Overall great though.
They were Electic right from the start and never stopped moving. The audience stood at the group's entrance and NEVER sat down after that. WOW! What a show. I will be looking forward to the next time I can go see them and hopefully the same place next year.
The B-52's were awesome last night at the OC FAir. There is no doubt they are still the all time party band. They just put you in a great mood and its infectious. The sounded amazing and looked great. Venue was sold out and audience came ready to have a good time. Sure hope they come back again next year!
While not as energetic as they were in their heyday, the B-52s still put on a wild show. I have to say that the 2 girls make the band. They still sound fantastic. Cindy and Kate are on stage the entire time while Fred takes his 2 song break. I enjoyed hearing the live mixes of their songs. The songs from their newest cd hold up well with their old classics. One thing i do miss is seeing and hearing Kate Peirson play the keyboards (though she did play a bit on 2 songs). Her keyboard playing was such a huge defining sound for this band and it would be great to see her play live once again. Still, she is the most energetic member of this band and sounds wonderful. The band still displays their fun sense of humor. They went crazy for the closing number, Rock Lobster. I have to give props to the lighting people. the background images were mesmerizing and compliment the music very well. If you get the chance, u must see this band live. I have seen them play many times since the 80s and they never dissapoint.
enjoyed what I saw: just couldn't believe it only was scheduled to last 1 hr. big disappointment.
I was happy to hear the group singing just as if 20 years +/- hasn't passed since the songs first came out!
The partying was wild, and as much in the audience as on stage! Everyone was on their feet and dancing, hullabaloo style, for more than half the concert. If their promoters were to put video of some of the fan's craziness on their website, they could sell twice as many tickets.. and as well create a seminal video we'd all love to have! It was a party not to be missed!
After listening to the B-52s for 30 years I finally got to go see them. In my old age I had to leave during the encore to get home and get to sleep, but the show was wonderful. It seemed it took a few minutes for the band to get into it, but then their energy showed and the crowd swayed and pogo'd. :) Good show!!
The B-52's totally rocked. The whole crowd was up on their feet. Not a single sole was sitting in their seat. Brings back the great and funky 80's! Their energy was non-stop!
They ALWAYS rock the house and sound just like their albums. I LOVE Kate's voice and EVERYONE is dancing the entire time. Good show and excellent talent. One of thee most fun bands to ever see live! I am forever a fan. Maybe one of these days we can hear Legal Tender or Whammy...Maybe next year...!
After 20 plus years in the business they still sound as great as they always have. The new C.D is as good and even better that "Cosmic Thing. I was not a big fan prior to the concert but now I am. "Great show B-52s."
This show was sold out! They put on a fabulous show. It was fun and everyone stood the entire time dancing and clapping. They were better than I even imagined.
Had a great time, the first band (88) was nothing to write home about, but once the B-52's came on stage until they finished everyone was on their feet. The band sounded just as good as they did 25+ years ago. The closed with Love Shack and Rock Lobster, couldn't of been better!!! I felt like I was back in the 80's, had a blast and would definitely go back and see them again.
