THE B-52S IN CONCERT:

Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

Just what you would expect from this ultimate party band......the most awesome rockin' shakin dancin in the aisles frenzied experience!!!! I first saw them back in the early '80's and I was instantly hooked on that rhythmic dance-inducing Twilight Zone music complete with beehive hairdo's and freakin' crazy lyrics. They are one of a kind. The most FUN music experience you will ever have!!!! I sure did.

We had awesome seats (4th row from stage) near isle. The B-52's were awesome, energetic, and up-lifting! Everyone was up and dancing. This was one FUN night!

by JennKitty on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Even if you've never heard most of their awesome catalog outside of "Love Shack", this show is not to be missed! This is a dance party spectacular for the audience! Fred and the girls are as sassy as ever and Kieth rips the music with his guitar work! See you in the aisles!!

  • B-52's still giving us Good Stuff

by markjcorsi on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome performance by an aging band. Set was a bit short and the venue was questionable, a converted dog-racing/slot machine parlor with folding chairs and a not so hot sound system. They didn't play Channel Z or Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland, sticking to safer oldies and selections from Funplex.

  • B-52's was a blast

  • The B-52s still strong as ever!

by Davesean on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing concert at Twin River last night. I think all the classics were covered mixed with the new stuff from Funplex, then encored with Planet Claire and Rock Lobster. Flawless and fun delivery of the songs, lots of energy, everyone had a blast!

  • Sad that I've missed so many in the past.

by Skullduggery on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was fantastic! I have only seen them two other times and that seems fo long ago. I'm sad that I missed so many other opportunities to see them since then. I hope there are still more to come.

  • B52s Rocked the house!

by Petitprince7 on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

The band was on point! Cindy and Kate have two of the most amazing voices. Keith is a doll and Fred is always good fun! The drummer, the bassists and the keyboard player were all perfect! Criticism... Twin RIvers is not a wonderful venue and the deserved better! The room was pretty but not all that great for a concert and crowd was lame. Who sits down during the B52s? Someone was veyr very rude... and tried to steal Cindy's scarf... The person was pulling her...but then the security came over... What the heck?

  • B-52's

by smartlady1962 on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Once they got the sound mix figured out (like song 3), the place rocked. They STILL sound amazing with the harmonies and being able to hit and hold the notes. The drummer and bass player were AWESOME! The event center is barely that - more like a hotel ballroom with folding seats

  • The B-52's rocked .

The show was great. Their performace was highlighted by their hits , Love Shack and Rock Lobster. The crowd was on their feet dancing the entire night.

We had two tickets to see the 52's ...they were great! We were in Section 3, Row B, seats 1 & 2...EXCELLENT SEATS! They sang all the hits and came back to do the on core...ROCKLOBSTER! An experience I will never forget. They may be getting older ...as all of us are...but they still can Rock! The Event Center is a beautiful place itself...but I came for the B-52's

by bbrig on 8/8/09Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are incredible. This is the second time I've seen them. First time in 1987. The show went fast. I thought they would sing many more songs, but nonetheless, it was amazing!

  • The B-52's at the Canyon Club Agoura Hills, CA

by Ericmtg on 8/2/09The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 3 out of 5

The Band was great! Lots of fun, High Energy and they sounded amazing. The only thing we didn't like, was the access to the stage. The whole front of the stage was sectioned off for seating-Dinner Guests only. There were 2 options when purchasing tickets "with dinner included" or "without". We decided to purchase without thinking that it wouldn't matter and the show was General Admission We were wrong... It turned out that only the tickets that included dinner were close to the stage and no one could enter into the stage area unless you payed for dinner-they never opened it up. We had to linger in the outskirts and watch the show from afar. I could tell the band would have liked to see more people dancing and having fun, but all the people up close were just sitting there-not even standing to dance-Lame! I wouldn't see a show at the Canyon Club again if this is how it will be. Especially not a band like the B52's-one which makes you want to dance. I was expecting a dance area or an open area in front of the stage but we were all Let down. The B52's are a great show, but the venue was a bummer- The Canyon Club is a nice/fun place but the seating arrangements sucked!

  • B-52's are a great party band!

by jubalshire on 8/2/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Watched the band play at the House of Blues in Boston with my brother. Great seats with a great view of the band. Show opened up with a few songs off their latest album "Funplex" and went straight into some of their all time greats.....Love Shack.....Strobe Light.....Quiche Lorraine....and so many more. Concert lasted over two hours and felt I got every pennies worth and then some! The band has been a summer staple here in New England ever since the 80s and I highly recommend seeing this band. They maybe a little older; but, don't let that fool you. They have more energy onstage than most bands today....the girls look as sexy as ever and I love the competitiveness between them trying to out-do each other on vocal sound effects during "Rock Lobster". Priceless. If you can see only one concert this year. The B-52's are the band to see!
