THE B-52S IN CONCERT:

Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

by AMELIASAMPAIO on 7/11/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

I HAD BEEN TO THE B 52'S SHOW 26 YEARS AGO IN BRASIL ,THERE WERE A ROCK CONCERT FOR 10 DAYS CALLED "ROCK'N RIO" . IT WAS LOVE ON THE FIRST SITE,I LOVED THAT BAND SINCE THE VERY FIRST MOMENT I SAW THEM,SO FOR ME WAS FUNNY TO SEE THEM AGAIN HERE IN THE US.I REALLY HAD FUN THAT NIGHT. CURIOSITY: I WAS WEARING THE SAME LITTLE BAG I WORE ON THE FIRST SHOW 26 YEARS AGO, I TOLD SOME PEOPLE THAT WERE AROUND ME AND THEY LOVED IT! I JUST GOT LITTLE SAD BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PLAY "LEGAL TENDER". BUT,EVEN STILL IT WAS WORTHY!

    B-52's were a BLAST!

by NurseChip on 7/11/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

I have been a fan of the B-52's for 24 years, so I was so excited to see them. They were FABULOUS! They were full of energy and the girls voices were as good as ever. The House of Blues is a great venue. Even the opening act, The 88, was terrific. The only thing I didn't like was that it was shorter than I'd like. I wish they'd played longer. That is the only reason I did not give them 5 stars. I wanted more!

Rock Lobster will never get old!

by Diamondb66 on 7/11/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

I have attended three B52's shows in the last 20 years and they never disappoint. They play their old tunes with enthusiasm, enjoying the crowd sing-a-long effect. Their new stuff is great, too.

For me, a show of a lifetime

by SGFreud on 7/11/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

I've loved the B-52's since I was 8. I'm now 26 and this was my first opportunity to see them. They did not dissapoint by any means! Kate and Cindy looked beautiful and all the vocals were spot on. Everyone was having the best time both on stage and off. It was awesome that they played a great mix of old and new material, especially dipping into songs that only true fans would appreciate. I would recommend this show to anyone who loves New Wave and the band.

Still Amazing all these years llater

by Zakattack on 7/3/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

The first time I saw the B52's was in Providence Rhode Island in the 80's I wore a Karate top and black leather pants spiked hair and make-up, no big deat today, thank you Adam Lambert, but back then there was a good chance I would beat up if I was in the wrong location. That night we danced screamed and fell to the ground during "Rock Lobster". Last night was no different except when we fell down for "Rock Lobster" we did so much more carefully and I have to admit my outfit was business casual as I went from work to the concert, and at 46 years old I left off the makeup. Fred Cindy and Kate were true artist and had the Livermore Vally on it's feet rocking, screaming, laughing and they had us completely not acting our age, Thank you B52s the show was fabulous!

Best show I've seen at Wente. Amazing Energy

by Uhammer on 7/3/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

Amazing. The crowd at Wente is a little oldEr and more sedate thq. Other venues. Bit the B-52s rocked the house and had everybody up and dancing be the end. Great show.

    B-52s Rocked the House

by stndp on 7/3/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

The normally appreciative but sedate audience at the Wente Vineyards were on their feet dancing at their tables, in the aisles, on the grass and filled the small portable dance floor laid out on the grass. Normally at Wente, the baby-boomer audience is largely in their seats and politely applauding with a few dancers. Last evening saw moms and dads with their kids, old and young grooving and shaking their hips to this great New York chic dance band. Clever lyrics and rocking rythyms, funky Fred reciting and the girls with their high harmonies...everybody movin', everybody grovin'. Wente was turned into a veritable Love Shack.

    The B-52's

    by raymac007 on 7/3/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

I have seen them a few times before. The venue was small and intimate. The B-52's delivered a great performance.
