Avett Brothers Concert Schedule and Tour

Growing up in Concord, North Carolina, and influenced by Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Neil Young, brothers Scott Avett on banjos and Seth Avett on guitars formed The Avett Brothers with standup bassist Bob Crawford in 2001, and released their first studio album Country Was in 2002, as well as live concert album that same year. Their stripped down, folky sound has a maudlin but warm vibe, full of gorgeous melodies and bluegrass jingle jangle. 2003's A Carolina Jubilee followed on Ramseur Records, as well as 2004’s Mignonette, which further polished their sound with graceful harmonies. In between a relentless concert and touring schedule, the band managed to record 2006’s Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions and The Gleam EP, in addition to a second live album, between tours before releasing their 2007 album Emotionalism. This garnered a lot of critical acclaim and caught the attention of Rick Rubin, who signed the band to his American Records label and produced their follow-up 2009’s I and Love and You, expanding their sound and bringing the band to new heights. Their seventh full-length album The Carpenter, also produced by Rubin, came out in 2012, debuting at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and earning their first Grammy nomination. The Avett Brothers latest, Magpie and the Dandelion, was released in October 2013 and is full of pop charisma and folk soul that has been enchanting ticket holders and pulling at their heartstrings with its raw energy and intimacy.

Outstanding show- opener Marcus King was phenomenal. Guest Mickey Raphael was a treat!!! The PNC staff are always courteous, helpful, and professional. The Uber line was ridiculous!!!

    Avett Brothers/MKB

by Mark C on 1/4/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

This is one of those events where the opening band and the headliner were both great! I have always wanted to see the Marcus King Band and they lived up with all expectations I had from listening to them over the years. The Avett Brothers gave it everything they had and it was obvious they were happy to be in NC for NYE. Great setlist as well.

    Not a good show

by BE on 1/4/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

I’ve seen their NYE show before and LOVED it. I’m familiar with several of their albums and own the records. I hardly knew any of the songs at this show. It was more focused on covers and showcasing guests I was not familiar with.

Absolute best way to spend NYE

by WKD on 1/4/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

No better way to ring in the new year than with a rousing and heartfelt show by The Avett Brothers. They went for some fun deep cuts, had some amazing special guests, and of course Scott and Seth and Bob and Joe continued to prove why they're just about the best live act around. Adding to the love was that the concert took place on their home turf in Raleigh. Loved everything about the show. Can't wait to see them againl.

    Avett Brothers

by PGFT on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

Amazing show as always. Would love for them to pull out a few surprise ones on New Years as most of us in the audience are long time fans and have traveled long distances for the show.

    Avett Bros never disappoint

by Webaddict on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

I'm a long time fan of the Avett Brothers. This was a great show as usual and the fact that it was combined with a New Years' celebration made it that much better. The only criticism I have is that the camera person(s) for the jumbotrons did not seem to know who to focus on and when. They were often focusing on the wrong band member at the wrong time. Since we were in the nose-bleed seats, we were watching the screens and it was pretty noticeable that the camera guys didn't know what they were doing.

Great NYE Night with Avett Brothers and Marcus King

by Dave on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

PNC is the best facility in North Carolina. Vending is well done. Good considerate and polite crowd. NOW with that said, what in the heck is up with charging $40 to park? Seriously?

    Fantastic Evening

Never been to a concert that was so together. The band, the crowd and the staff were all on point and rowing in the same direction. Wonderful evening.

    Decent Night

by Shadow on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

Overall, it was a decent night at PNC. It certainly was not as good as their NYE show at PNC the last time. Although Marcus King is a talented fellow, I could not understand anything he said or sung 90% of the time. The verbal acoustics were not good for him throughout the evening. As for the Avett Brothers, among the best groups out there and I am certainly a big fan, they just were not top drawer that night. They didn't start till about 10:15, they played songs that I never heard of until about 45 minutes in, they seemed to rely too heavily on folks not part of the band, to include the harmonica player and some kid who sings in their soon-to-be Broadway play. Don't get me wrong - they are all talented folks, but the Avetts just did not sing too many songs from their better albums and from the film, in my opinion. I am glad they ended with "No Hard Feelings"(and I didn't have any even though the show was somewhat disappointing) in the encore. I think I must have gotten spoiled from the NYE show I attended a few years ago, which was the best concert I ever saw. Overall, I am glad I went, it's a good way to end an old year and start a New Year, but it just didn't "knock it out of the park"for me. It was just not a highlight type of concert for me. As for PNC Arena, $17.50 beers (which equates to a $420 case of beer) and other high dollar drinks and food, is just out of control. I get it, it will be higher than at Food Lion, but it's highway robbery to charge that much for a beer. Acoustics for the Avett Brothers was good, lighting top drawer, and getting in and out was easy. Parking charges were also out of control, so I walked from the NC Museum Parking Lot. I think I have said enough. Sorry.

    Another beautiful NYE

by KHH on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

Wish I had tracked how many Avett NYE shows we have been to. We started with you all in Charlotte (WAY back). Hit or miss every few years. This was our first NYE show with our teen sons. Great set list! Best show we have seen in the last two years. Love, love, love!

Bucket list concert. Everything was great. Even the staff at PNC Arena were great. Getting into the venue was a breeze. Parking is overpriced.

    Pure Awesomeness!!!

    by G Todd A on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

We got “Swept Away” in all the festivities. Logistically flawless, food and drink were superb, Marcus was a King and The Avett Brothers brought us seamlessly into 2024. This will become an annual event for our family!!!

    Best show ever

by PamelaB on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

This show was hands down the best show I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been to quite a few shows and some that were pretty amazing and iconic including Bowie, The Ramones, the Red Hot Chili Peppers when they they played a triple header with Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam and even still this Avett Brothers show was the best. I have been smiling for days. Just so dang good.

    Good in the World

by Deegans on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

Just my presence at this concert gave me hope that there is still good left in this world. Good clean uplifting music is rare to find and hear these days. An arena full of upstanding, clean, considerate people appreciating the good clean music was a nice experience. The New Years balloon drop made me teary eyed.

No better way to end 2023 - Start 2024

by Chad on 1/3/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

From the first note to the last, The Avett Brother's NYE spectaculars are something not to be missed. Phenomenal opening set from Marcus King who sings like an angel and plays like the devil, followed by 20+ tunes from one of the most genuine, authentic and uplifting bands on the scene. NYE or not, if the Avetts are coming to your town, stop what you are doing and go. You will not regret it!
