Avett Brothers Concert Schedule and Tour

Growing up in Concord, North Carolina, and influenced by Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Neil Young, brothers Scott Avett on banjos and Seth Avett on guitars formed The Avett Brothers with standup bassist Bob Crawford in 2001, and released their first studio album Country Was in 2002, as well as live concert album that same year. Their stripped down, folky sound has a maudlin but warm vibe, full of gorgeous melodies and bluegrass jingle jangle. 2003's A Carolina Jubilee followed on Ramseur Records, as well as 2004’s Mignonette, which further polished their sound with graceful harmonies. In between a relentless concert and touring schedule, the band managed to record 2006’s Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions and The Gleam EP, in addition to a second live album, between tours before releasing their 2007 album Emotionalism. This garnered a lot of critical acclaim and caught the attention of Rick Rubin, who signed the band to his American Records label and produced their follow-up 2009’s I and Love and You, expanding their sound and bringing the band to new heights. Their seventh full-length album The Carpenter, also produced by Rubin, came out in 2012, debuting at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and earning their first Grammy nomination. The Avett Brothers latest, Magpie and the Dandelion, was released in October 2013 and is full of pop charisma and folk soul that has been enchanting ticket holders and pulling at their heartstrings with its raw energy and intimacy.

The Avett Brothers: wow, what a show !!

by FayeMcd on 11/1/10Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

After almost a full 2 hours, the band finally called it a night but I and the rest of the crowd would have happily and enthusiastically stayed for 2 more. I haven't had that much fun and pure joy at a concert in a long, long time. Their lyrics, musicianship, heart and spirit shined bright in every song. They rocked and wailed and then went soft and sweet and sometimes all in the same song. Don't know how you would categorize them...alternative country / folk / rock / bluegrass ...doesn't matter, they are a fantastic live act. The crowd response was wonderful - singing along with almost every song. The brothers, Scott and Seth and the rest of the band seemed so appreciative of the welcome they were given. They had 2 back-to-back sold out shows in Nashville, so if you see them coming to your town, grab a ticket as fast as you can.

The Avett Brothers are the one band I MUST see every time they come through Nashville. They put on an incredible live show, and the Ryman is hands-down one of the best places to see a live band in Music City.

    Greatest band on Earth. Period.

by AvettNation6 on 10/25/10Big Sandy Superstore Arena - Huntington

Nothing compares to being on the floor for an Avett show in the South. Nothing at all. They were absolutely incredible from playing old favorite from Mignonette, Emotionalism, Country Was, Four Thieves, the Gleams, and Carolina Jubilee, to the still popular I and Love and You and even a few unrecorded songs!

    Perfect performance.

by BrettB on 10/22/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

These guys are amazing. And also amazingly humble. They were pretty vocal in how grateful they were to be there. But humility aside, they rocked the fu**in' house. Great music and a great time.
