The performance by the National Ballet Theatre of Odessa was spectacular. A live orchestra would have made it absolutely perfect, but it's understandable that they can't tour with an orchestra as well as troupe of dancers, so I don't hold that against them at all. We were seated in the box seats along the side of the theatre, which gave us an angled view of only about half of the stage. Because of this, coupled with large sound equipment on the sides of the stage, we only saw half of the performance. The Lyric is a small venue - a great venue, mind you, but small none the less, and perhaps it wasn't really the appropriate venue for this performance. All of that notwithstanding, the performance was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to the National Ballet Theatre of Odessa for bringing their talents to Birmingham!
