A fine afternoon for grandmother & granddaughter
by BabaYaga on 1/17/12The Mahaffey - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5Both granddaughter and I were well entertained. She, at nine years old, sat quietly engrossed in the activity on stage, becoming restless only during the break between acts 3 and 4.(As did I.) We talked about the skills of the dancers and the way the story was made very clear through dance all the way home. She re=told the story to her mother and brother and said she would like to see another ballet in the future. I totally agree that the dancers were highly skilled. I was pleasantly surprised to see the costumes were Grade A and apparently quite new, which is not always the case with Russian touring groups. Additionally, I very much appreciated being able to attend this type of event as a matinee.
