About

Few ballets command the stage with the power and elegance of Swan Lake, and now you can experience it the way it was intended - with a live orchestra! The sweeping movement of the corps de ballet, the emotional depth of Odette and Siegfried's love story, and the tension of the Black Swan's deception make it one of the most captivating works in the classical repertoire. Alberta Ballet's production follows the beloved Petipa/Ivanov tradition while embracing the bold vision of Benjamin Pech, a former etoile of the Paris Opera Ballet. Pech heightens the ballet's drama by reimagining Benno--Siegfried's closest friend--as the true villain, deepening the prince's turmoil and altering the story's tragic conclusion.

Tchaikovsky's sweeping score will be performed live, surrounding audiences with its full orchestral power. The combination of Pech's storytelling and Alberta Ballet's artistry makes this Swan Lake a not-to-be-missed event.

With evocative design, powerful performances, and live music, this production offers a fresh take on a timeless masterpiece.

Experience Swan Lake as it was meant to be seen and heard.

  • Seating not suitable during Covid19

The dancing was beautiful. The canned music was atrocious. The people letting us in the doors were not trained and it took 15 minutes to get in. Instead of being spaced appropriately we were packed into a few rows with great empty spaces behind us. In contrast, at the Winspear Saturday the entryway smooth and the spacing appropriate.
