About

Alone in the dark, with little more than her celluloid memories, Norma Desmond remains what she has always been — the greatest star of all.

This spring, she will reclaim the spotlight once more.

Glenn Close returns to Broadway in the tour de force performance that earned her the Tony Award for Best Actress – and a place in Broadway history – in Sunset Boulevard.

Featuring a 40-piece orchestra, the largest in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award®-winning masterwork of dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood comes to the Palace Theatre for a limited engagement following a sold out run in London’s West End.

“ONE OF THE GREAT STAGE PERFORMANCES OF THIS CENTURY! YOU HAVE TO – AND I MEAN HAVE TO – SEE IT IN PERSON!”  -  Ben Brantley, The New York Times

“WITH ONE LOOK GLENN CLOSE BRINGS DOWN THE HOUSE!   A performance gutsier and more gripping than ever.  IT LEAVES YOU THUNDERSTRUCK.  Your heart somehow sinks and beats faster all at once.” -Peter Marks, The Washington Post

“THE APPLAUSE ECHOES LONG AFTER THE CURTAIN FALLS!” – Entertainment Weekly

    Disappointing

by Drossle on 6/22/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Glenn Close was wonderful, as was the entire cast, Lloyd Webber's score, though, was repetitious and mediocre at best. I could not remember one musical moment after I left the theater; whereas almost the entire score of Phantom or Cats is still in my head. Michael Xavier was also excellent. I am a retired professional ballet dancer.

Glenn Close the only reason to go

by Pelly1 on 6/21/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

If you saw the original with Glenn Close, there is no comparison. The original was 100% better. Hated the sets (because of the limited run?) and the fact that the orchestra was on stage. Joe Gillis and Max actors were forgettable. Glenn Close is again, fabulous.

    Glenn Close is Sunset Boulevard

by Riray28PH on 6/20/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

This was my first broadway experience and I'm not even ashamed to share that I was crying half the time because I was so overwhelmed by how amazing the show is and the talent I've witnessed. It was everything I ever hoped for and then some.

    Stunning and moving Sunset Boulevard

by Kaci33 on 6/20/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Glenn Close was heart-stopping terrific as Norma Desmond. I had seen the first production of Sunset Boulevard when Betty Buckley succeeded Glenn Close. Our front row seats allowed us to see Ms. Close's eyes shimmer with tears. Michael Xavier and everyone else in the stellar cast were perfect. Had I not seen the original production, I would have been more impressed with the pared-down set but the staging remained effective. Just missed the wonderful staircase and the juxtaposition of the two New Year's Eve celebrations.

    Loved it!

by Lady17 on 6/20/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Well, Norma had me in tears in the first half! Glenn Close really was perfect for this role. I liked the movie, but this was so much better. The rest of the cast was wonderful also. Joe ( Michael Xavier) coming out of the "pool" in the second half was a delight! Max and Betty were convincing in their roles also. My only regret is that I cannot get into NYC to see it again before the 25th. The orchestra on the stage enhanced the play and the minimal set design allowed you to develop a connection to the characters. I was so impressed with Glenn's humility and appreciation while taking her many curtain calls. So happy I saw Sunset Boulevard!

    Brilliant

by broadway22 on 6/20/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Sorry I waited so long to see it. Show was absolutely breathtaking. Glenn Close and the rest of the cast gave a performance that I will remember for the rest of my life. I truly believe she gave and gives an Oscar winning performance at every performance. Thank You Glenn Close and everyone in the cast for a memory I will cherish always,

Sunset Boulevard was once in a lifetime!

by Mickey130 on 6/20/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Truly amazing. Even better than the first time I saw it several years ago. Difficult to imagine without G Close and the other very talented cast members. Not a short show but the minutes flew by. I'm so glad that I was able to get tickets. I was so into it that, when I got home, I looked up interviews on YouTube and also found Barbra Streisand's version of a few of the songs from the musical. I see a lot of shows...this is on the top ten list.

    Theatrical briliance

by Jennyenf on 6/20/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Went to New York last week and pre booked to see Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard on Saturday evening. Knew that she had won a Tony award, but wasn't prepared for the amazing performance which we had the privilege to experience. She received three standing ovations, one of which even the cast on stage, joined in. It was probably the best stage performance that I have ever seen. If you love the theatre mortgage your house and go !!

    Stellar Production and Cast

by NJTheatreFanDF on 6/19/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

The 2017 Andrew Lloyd Webber production of Sunset Boulevard is pure genius! The 41 piece orchestra is onstage throughout the show and the sound quality is phenomenal. There is one slow period near the beginning of Act I but the pace picks up quickly. By the intermission I didn't want to leave my seat. The entire cast is wonderful and the performances by Ms. Glenn Close and Mr. Michael Xavier will stay with me for a very long time, as will a couple of the songs that I cannot stop singing. The show included some very creative production tricks that really add to the historic feel of the story. I wish I had seen this show earlier in its run because I would like to see it again!

Glenn Close at her Magnificent Best!

by LeeReeBway on 6/19/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Glenn Close summoned a world where old Hollywood and new Broadway magically combined for 200 intense minutes. The ecstatic audience simply could not stop cheering and applauding this show. I will never forget Ms. Close as Norma Desmond as long as I live.

    Disappointing

by Redtopp1 on 6/19/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Had wanted to see this but was very disappointed. Seemed very disjointed and characters were not believable. I would not waste your money. See something else!
