About

Alone in the dark, with little more than her celluloid memories, Norma Desmond remains what she has always been — the greatest star of all.

This spring, she will reclaim the spotlight once more.

Glenn Close returns to Broadway in the tour de force performance that earned her the Tony Award for Best Actress – and a place in Broadway history – in Sunset Boulevard.

Featuring a 40-piece orchestra, the largest in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award®-winning masterwork of dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood comes to the Palace Theatre for a limited engagement following a sold out run in London’s West End.

“ONE OF THE GREAT STAGE PERFORMANCES OF THIS CENTURY! YOU HAVE TO – AND I MEAN HAVE TO – SEE IT IN PERSON!”  -  Ben Brantley, The New York Times

“WITH ONE LOOK GLENN CLOSE BRINGS DOWN THE HOUSE!   A performance gutsier and more gripping than ever.  IT LEAVES YOU THUNDERSTRUCK.  Your heart somehow sinks and beats faster all at once.” -Peter Marks, The Washington Post

“THE APPLAUSE ECHOES LONG AFTER THE CURTAIN FALLS!” – Entertainment Weekly

WOW! Such a Powerful Performance! Thank you, Glenn

Hurry...purchase your tickets now and make any needed travel arrangements. SUNSET BOULEVARD is a must-see!! Glenn Close is mesmerizing as Nora Desmond in this limited-run revival!! Her poignant portrayal moved my partner and I to tears repeatedly. Supported by an exceptionally gifted cast--the show is phenomenal. Michael Xavier displays both his impressive physique and his immense vocal talent. Fred Johanson is superb with a rich bass voice to die for. The immense (for Broadway) orchestra does a fantastic job. Okay, the sets are rather minimalistic--but I assure you THIS show is outstanding! We feel that we were blessed with a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have witnessed Glenn Close in this revival and cannot praise it sufficiently.

    Singing secondary

by Anonymous on 4/29/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

You will not leave the theater singing a tune. It's not that kind of musical. Sure, Glenn Close is very good. The male lead? Eh. Better in the second act but still not great. Music was disappointing. Nothing memorable. More speaking to music than singing.

    OMG!

by showsalot on 4/28/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Glenn Close owns this roll! She is amazing. Actually took my breath away! Don't expect great singing tho...but it works with the character she plays. However the younger girl has a Gorgeous voice. Best I've heard in awhile. I go to Broadway shows at least once a month, and don't talk talk about them for weeks after, like I have for SB. In fact, I went to this show twice! You must see this, before the run ends.

    Bravo!

by AnaC on 4/28/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Saw this in reviews, and once again after it opened... gets better each time. Glenn Close does an amazing performance. The entire cast and orchestra complement this musical with their talent. I didn't see it the first time Glenn performed in it, so I am honored to have witnessed her performance this time around.

by emgate on 4/27/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Seeing Glenn Close as Norma Desmond was just mesmerizing. She was a powerhouse - just amazing. Feel very lucky to have seen her on stage. Awesome performances by the rest of the cast as well. Loved Michael Xavier. The role of Max was very touchingly played by Fred Johanson and Siobhan Dillon perfect for her role.

    Glenn close is amazing!

by Thrtrlovr on 4/25/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

The show was unbelievable. Glenn close is better at 70 in the role than she was at 50 becuase she brings more of a combination of strength and vulnerability to the role of norma desmond. Go see this how! It is one of webber's best musicals. The orchestration is fantastic!

    superb

by musdent on 4/25/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

This was a truly great production. Glenn Close was great in the role of Norma, but the entire cast was first rate. Wonderful large orchestra on stage gave a sensitive reading of this marvelous score (in my opinion Webber's best). Staging was on a single multilevel set with orchestra at rear, and was very creative in suggesting different scenes. I would see this show again in a heartbeat. Sorry it has such a limited run.

    Amazing Sunset

by CeCe46 on 4/25/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Glenn Close was wonderful of course. The other cast members were right on. Very close to the 1950 movie. Weber's music was classic Weber. Overall, a most enjoyable afternoon

Maybe I am not a guy for musicals but I could only understand about a third of the sung "dialogue ". Found it annoying. Pretty theater though!

    Wonderful evening!

by Anonymous on 4/23/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

This performance was significantly different from Glenn Close's Los Angeles performance I saw in the 90's. But just as good! Having the orchestra on stage worked well, and I think ensured that we had an excellent view even from the 3rd row. My one criticism is that the audio mix was a little heavy on the orchestra, so often the dialogue/singing was overshadowed. All of the actors did an excellent job. And what a treat to be there during Broadway Cares! Excellent opportunity to see the actors as themselves , and to support a worthy cause.
