Summer: The Donna Summer Musical on Tour
She was a girl from Boston with a voice from heaven, who shot through the stars from gospel choir to dance floor diva. But what the world didn't know was how Donna Summer risked it all to break through barriers, becoming the icon of an era, and the supreme queen for every diva who followed. With a score featuring more than 20 of Summer's classic hits including "Love to Love You, Baby;" "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff," this electric experience is a moving tribute to the voice of a generation.
Excellent production on the life and times of Donna Summer. Very tastefully presented
Was like watching a high school production with better singers. Set designs was lacking. Also, no intermission was a miss. People kept getting up throughout production to go to bathroom and it was distracting watching them get up and slide down aisles back into their seats during production.
Really enjoyed this show, and reliving those disco dances as a sorority girl at Michigan State. The actress who played the main role as Donna did an excellent job with voice and dance moves. Interesting to learn about her life as well as enjoy listening to all those great hits. The dresses were dazzling too! Good support actors and actresses as well. Fun girls night out.
I saw "Summer" March 15th. The sound mixing sucked! All the actors sounded like they were talking or singing into a paper bag. Very garbled to the point you couldn't understand the words they were saying or singing. Fisher Theatre, you finally started turning the lights down before the production started. Now try to get the sound better than a high school musical. So disappointed with The Fisher this season. It was a musical, get the sound right!!
The storyline was hard to follow and the narration was uninspiring. I was surprised that the singing wasn’t great. They didn’t do justice to Donna Summer.
We had a great time, and of course the music was great. We really enjoyed ourselves.
We sat in the Loge area at The Fisher Theatre for the Donna Summers tribute. They did not have the speakers on in that area. Total waste of $122 per ticket, x4! When I told the usher the speakers were not working, he said “this is not a concert ... it’s a play.” Really? This is the second review I’ve written and I highly doubt I’ll get a response. Not sure why you even send these things out. Zero chance I’d go back.
I loved the review. Treated myself to a matinee and went single. The music was wonderful and the cast got the whole audience involved. Fantastic singing, dancing, & music. I really felt safe coming with the COVID test/vaccine documentation requirement. I commend the Fisher Theater for taking such a courageous stand.
Ok. Not great Would not see it again Music too liud
I loved the music, the dancing was amazing! Great show.
Loved every moment of this show. I left inspired and revisiting all of Donna Summers best hits.
I thought the performers were terrific. However, I was hoping for a better story line.
Summer should be called a concert and not a play. It has an awkward flow. The signing and dancing was okay. Bottom line a disappointment and waste of money.
The show was fabulous. The staff was professional, the bathroom was clean. My continual disappointment is in the sound system. The volume is fine but the clarity of hearing the words continues to be a problem. Just making the sound louder does not function in the clarity of the words both in song and spoken.
Fabulous acting and singing a must see The dancing was awesome. The 3 Donna Summers did very well.
My sister and I enjoyed the musical from start to finish! Very talented cast of performers who portrayed Donna Summer spot on.
I thought the show was absolutely great!! The three women who play Donna at various ages were fantastic and the women (or girls) playing her sisters and children were terrific too. The show does a great job telling Donna's life story and helping the audience understand both the artist and the woman.
I love the show because it was so great songs was great I have a the songs stuck in my heas
At the start of this musical I thought it would favor a cruise-type musical. However, the story, music, singing and dancing got better and better as the show progressed. We really enjoy the show. I was surprised that there was no intermission. I had forgotten some of the hits Donna Summer had so this was a nice trip down memory lane. Also, I learned a lot about all she went through in her life and career. Good show!
The musical was just magical!!!! It was overwhelmingly good - I would recommend it!! The cast did Donna Summer well - just amazing!!!
