Summer: The Donna Summer Musical on Tour
She was a girl from Boston with a voice from heaven, who shot through the stars from gospel choir to dance floor diva. But what the world didn't know was how Donna Summer risked it all to break through barriers, becoming the icon of an era, and the supreme queen for every diva who followed. With a score featuring more than 20 of Summer's classic hits including "Love to Love You, Baby;" "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff," this electric experience is a moving tribute to the voice of a generation.
What a terrific performance...GREAT music, AMAZING vocals and dancing!
Enjoyed it very much, liked the biographical story and the music woven together. Talented singers. 2 hours straight no intermission
I was not as impressed as I had hoped to be. I guess I was expecting full versions of the songs. All seemed abbreviated and the props and costumes seemed cheap. The performance was fine but it left my tank half full.
Music and performance were great. Dancing was pretty good. And the Tennessee Theater is always great.
I desperately loved Donna Summer's music and was so excited to see this come up. I instantly bought tickets for me and my sister. I did not know it was the story of her life. I did not know that we would hear only a couple of her songs all the way through. Several we heard snippets of but not the entire song. We spent the majority of the musical trying to figure out what was happening and who they were talking about. Maybe the writer/producer assumed we knew more than we did so just hit the highlights. Regardless we had 4th row seats to hear Donna's songs brought to life and the final song was the only one that was what we went to see.
The show was fantastic—the singers were awesome. Everyone was up dancing for the last song. And the venue—the Tennessee Theater in Knoxville—amazing! Such a beautiful place. The was the end of a sisters week vacation, and we all we’re thrilled.
I loved how the performance was a continuous story of Donna Summer’s life. I gave me a perspective of her life and music. Loved it.
It was awesome! We all thoroughly enjoyed the musical! I didn't want it to end!
What an enjoyable night! The singing talent ws superb as well as the dancing. It was a very professional production. The music was familiar which also made fun to sing along in my head. I was happily surprised at what a great time I had watching the high energy performance.
Excellent!! The talented actors and actresses were perfection! Great songs and beautiful singing. I did not know the show was going to progress through her life. Was surprised it wasn’t all of her hits one after another. Loved how the show was written and all pulled together. Loved every minute of it! Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT and EXCITING! Thanks for the entertainment! Dana B
This show is gorgeous. The show flows from scene to scene seamlessly. The music is beautiful. The dancing and acting are gorgeous. Donna Summer is smiling!
I would have like to have gone but I made a mistake dealing with a third party scalper.
It wasnt the worst musical I have ever seen. Far from the best. It was only 2 hours, which was good enough. I enjoyed about half of it. Upbeat songs and numbers are great. This show dies with the slow numbers though. Worth one watch, but thats it.
I learned so much about Donna Summer. I give RAVE REVIEWS for the musical, singers and actors. The play was full of her classic songs as well as some new. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!
The show was a bit disappointing. It was not what I expected..It was mediocre at best.
The music, the talented singers and dancers, and the theatrical direction was a concert. It brought back such pleasant memories, that I was moved to tears.
Fabulous Music brought back so many fun memories for me. The actors were amazing and kept the audience energized. I hadn’t known about Donna Summers personal life so that being built into the production was a bonus. Definitely worth seeing!
The Donna Summer Musical wasn't too long so not having an intermission was OK. I enjoyed hearing the old songs that I enjoyed when I was a teenager. My 20 years old granddaughter went with me and also enjoyed the musical. She's a singer and is familiar with many of Donna Summers music.
It was super annoying and distracting to have ushers walking up and down the isles being the “mask police” during the performance
The storytelling seemed very disjointed. Expected something more joyful and party-ish.
