About

She was a girl from Boston with a voice from heaven, who shot through the stars from gospel choir to dance floor diva. But what the world didn't know was how Donna Summer risked it all to break through barriers, becoming the icon of an era and the inspiration for every music diva who followed. With a score featuring more than 20 of Summer's classic hits including "Love to Love You Baby," "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff," this electric experience is a moving tribute to the voice of a generation.

    Best Show I’ve ever seen.

by Kid on 2/19/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Took me back to my days of growing up and listening to Donna on the radio blasting out the best sings with heart and meaning The cast did a phenomenal job and the singing and music 🎼 held me captivated to 1977 to 1981. Rest in Christ Donna. You sang for the Lord. Amen

    All Good

    by J. M. on 2/19/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

It was a good concert - 3 Donna's have great voices. First concert I've been to without any intermissions, but it was well communicated before hand

    Donna Summer

by Crd on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I think the show was just starting when we walked in at about 7:35. The Usher was courteous in showing us to our seats. We sat in the first row in the mezzanine center left. I think the seats should be described as partially obstructed because there was a platform that held the lights, so the lower part of the actors sometimes couldn’t be seen. The theatre was a little cool. The show was fantastic. The voices of the singers was phenomenal especially the actress who portrayed the mature Donna. I heard a couple of songs I had forgotten about. Also, the dancers were great. Loved the set. An enjoyable experience and highly recommended.

    Not Impressed

by Jack on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The performers were good leaving me underwhelmed. The production could have invested in better props and costume. The overall show seemed like a little bit better than a community theater performance or variety show. Music selection were very good and fitting to the scenes depicted.

Could have been so much better!

    by P. A. on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Very generic production. Could of and should of had more songs. Stage set was also so generic. Not memorable at all.

    Average at best!

by Mike on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Another jukebox musical. Nothing much to mention other than it’s a disappointment. Decent dancing, decent singers. Short snippets of a lot of songs. Don’t water your money

    Great singing and choreography

by Becs on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The singing was great and I like how they told the story from different points in Donna's life. At times the play got a little slow/boring. Overall, though I felt it was a good show and I learned things about Donna Summer that I didn't know.

    Smart and fun

    by R. G. on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The history behind the star came through wonderfully. So it was not just the songs, even though they were great. As for the venue, the Nederlander Theatre is very happy to take our money but once the show was over they wanted us out NOW! A no intermission show, and they want us out of the restrooms. Then they pushed us from one area to the next, and finally out the door. Thought I had just had an operation at the hospital, but the hospital would let me stay longer. Guess if the Nederlander sold after-show drinks it might be more generous.

    An Amazing Show

by Thomas on 2/18/20James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Music was great. Singing was Incredible. This show brought back so many memories growing up. Donna Summer’s story was told in a very interesting way - I learned so much about her and the legacy she left behind. If I could have one thing, it would be for the show to actually have more disco dancing. Highly recommended!

The musical was fun and priced in a range that you can enjoy some classic disco in a historic theatre.
