About

Sting is a 17-time Grammy-winning artist and a founding member of the pioneering new wave band The Police. Born in Wallsend, England, Gordon Sumner, a.k.a. Sting, became one of the best-selling artists of all-time as the bassist and frontman of The Police. The band released five studio albums and six Top 10 singles, including the Sting-penned No. 1 hit “Every Breath You Take,” before disbanding in 1986. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and their 2008 reunion tour was the third highest-grossing tour of the ’00s. Since releasing his 1985 solo debut The Dream of the Blue Turtles, Sting has been recognized with a British CBE and an Emmy, featured at the Kennedy Center Honors and inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has also received four Oscar nominations, and his 2014 Broadway musical The Last Ship, which was inspired by his childhood and featured music and lyrics by Sting, was nominated for two Tony Awards. A constant experimenter of genres including jazz, pop, classical and world music, Sting won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2019 with Shaggy for their 2018 collaborative album 44/876.

    Good show

by Nanzapilot on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Excellent concert with the exception of the backup singers and the audience. The backup singers sounded like they were wailing and had too many syllables! The audience had folks that talked through the entire concert and were using their phone flashlights to eat, etc. Audience in Hollywood was rude, self absorbed, discourteous, and ill-mannered. Never wish to go to Hollywood Bowl for another concert. Too bad because the acoustics are quite good!

STING AT HOLLYWOOD BOWL WAS PERFECTION 💯

by Tia on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Best concert next to Beyonce Renaissance Tour.! Wow! Sting was perfection! A true Rockstar! He was in excellent shape and sang all of the favorites! It was also a great surprise to the audience when his song came out and was absolutely incredible and fully embodied his fathers musical talents! We had a blast!

    Great headliner and opening act!

by A Muse on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Overall, the concert was great! I would have loved to hear more songs. Since we took a bus, I had to leave 20 minutes earlier to make sure I was on it. Turned off by the smells of pot, cigarettes, vapes, and alcohol usage by fans. It really effected my experience. Though, Sting snd his opening act were so “ on” snd positive, At the top of their game! It was great music!

    72 and still bringing it!

by Pinotfarmer on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting was amazing and sounds like his days from the Police. What a playlist - form Message in a Bottle to Fragile. No better venue the the Hollywood Bowl and he was definitely up to the task.

    great cincert/horrible night

by MikeyIII on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting, as always was great. Brings a tremendous energy to his work. I could have done without his son's band opening for him. Unfortunately the Bowl has changed it's parking policy this year (who knew) and you need a pass to park in any of the lots, So, an evening that after going at 5:45 we had to come back, take an UBER got close (insane traffic this last week), stood in line to get the ticket scanned for 40 minutes and finally got to our seats at 7:55. Not at all prepared for a sold out show, not at all prepared for parking. After trying to get an UBER is impossible so we walked home, 2 miles on Franklin at midnight passed 2 homeless camps, etc. I've been going to the Bowl for 30 years and now I just may never go again.

    Sting’s Songs are still Spectacular

by Shireenbr on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting’s performance was epic. Every song sounded as great as I remember growing up. His voice has texture and he is so charismatic! I loved seeing him perform with his son, Joe Sumner too. It was a beautiful night at the Bowl.

Sting - Still has it in him!

Love that he played many Police songs along with his own songs and new songs! Still has the energy for an entire show without stopping. He looks great!

    Sting superb, Bowl meh

by CD on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting is superb and his musicians as well. Nothing more to say there. The Bowl on arrival looks dirty and tired. The lines to get through the metal detectors slow and we’re all squashed together in the last stretch. Inside all the food smell (it was still fairly warm that day). The concert was great, the Bowl I don’t know.

    Perfection!

by MAK on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I'm a little hesitant when it comes to seeing older musicians in concert because of some really bad performances that leave you wondering why are they wasting peoples time and money? But, I bought Sting tickets with confidence he would be excellent and he sure was. I couldn't have been happier with his performance. His voice has not changed, his energy is amazing, and I loved that he played so many songs, ones that we hoped to hear. His back up singers were awesome as well! Don't hesitate to see Sting, I keep hearing his songs in my head....

    Delivered as expected

by Gnasher on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

All the songs that one expected to hear were delivered with no unnecessary prolonged jam. Sound quality was good and videos were focused on the performers, giving this concert a very professional feel. Traffic was horrendous as expected - the bus ride from the LA Zoo parking lot took 40 minutes while for some others using the same service took 1 hour. Security clearance at gate entry was efficient, given the size of the crowd. The presence of security and Bowl personnel was adequate. The bus depot for picking up passengers should be back at the previous spot to reduce the number of road crossings for passengers to get to the designated buses after the concert.

    Sting in Concert

by Poppy on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Great evening! Sting, his son and the grandkids all were on stage. It was a great moment. The graphics displayed on the screen was somewhat distracting since many time you could barely see the artist. Great seats and great venue! Two senior citizens had a wonderful time!

    Sting at Hollywood Bowl -Amazing!

by Jaagged on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Our first time to Hollywood Bowl. We are from Canada and it was on our bucket list to go to the Hollywood Bowl. Timing worked out that it was one of our favorite artists. Beautiful warm night. People were telling us the acoustics weren't great. We thought it was fantastic. We took a bus from Lakewood...what a great service so you don't have to fight traffic and reasonable price of $10 per person return. They need to make the line ups better marked with dividers because it wasn't clear. It was one wide line until you got up very close to security. Not bad line ups for seat cushions, food, drink or washrooms. It was very cool his son opened for him. He played a good mix of Police songs and his own songs. We will definitely be back!

    A Great Evening

by JK on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Sting was energetic, personable, and put on a first-rate show. He covered every era of his substantial songbook. The band did a fine job. Seeing his family was fun. The sound quality was good and the Bowl served well as a venue. The only change I would make is to not put so many graphics on the jumbotrons. We in the cheap seats like to see a bit of the action on the stage.

    Gary’s Review of STING

by Gary on 10/10/23Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

The concert was amazing. Sting played 24 songs, many of the songs were my favorites. Gordon Sumner is 72 years old and still has a great voice. One of the best concerts I have ever attended.
